NO Jewish gathering would ever be complete without a nice, big bowl of chopped liver for everyone to dip their Tam Tams or veggies into. A thick, rich and creamy chicken liver pâté, this is the stuff of Jewish prophets. I've always loved the stuff and wanted to make my own. So I found this BE ALL, END ALL recipe from a woman named Mirj on food.com.
It is a time consuming recipe with the browning of the onions, but it's also VERY easy and you'll wow yourself that YOU made this and not the kosher butcher. Prepare to be worshipped by those chopped liver lovers!

Just made this today. It is the best chopped liver I have ever had. Those caramelized Spanish onions are the key. They add so much sweetness and moisture. Delicious!

I made this last week and it was amazing! I did add in 2 garlic cloves as well as unsalted organic chicken stock during the blending process as I wanted more of a pate finished product. I also stirred in fresh basil, cilantro and chives to the smoothed product before refrigerating the mixture. Delicious! I am going to make it again today and am thinking about sauteing the onions in rosemary infused olive oil and soaking the livers (once rinsed) in lemon juice, as well as recreating the recipe here with the added items noted, and blend it all just a bit longer because again, I am looking for more of a pate finish. Anyway, THANK YOU for this recipe and the step by step especially concerning the onions. Beyond delicious recipe.

If I continue trying your super recipes I will get more fluffier than I already am. Lol. ...one more great and oh, so simple recipe. Love livers!!! Definitely a try.

Just found this video. It is ALMOST perfect chopped liver. A little bit of schmaltz would be the crowning glory, dare I say...the secret ingredient.

Mazel Tov Jeffrey, You've done it again. I've made this for the past 2 Jewish Gatherings I've gone to and we were just invited to Erev Rosh Hashana dinner aT friends and when I asked what I could bring, the hostess said "that delicious chopped liver!" Just found this. The British Jewish recipe uses ox and calf liver rather than chicken liver - and nowhere near as many onions! Trouble is you can't get ox liver anymore, and calf liver is so hard to find and expensive. My best recipe was my grandfather's, but I've mislaid it. Oh, and we spread it on bagels or rye bread. We also love chopped herrings. In fact, our evening meal on Christmas Day is bagels, chopped herring, smoked salmon, pickles, crisps and salad.

Hi! I love your channel I just discovered it today. I make chop liver goyisha Way because I’m half Jewish. I sauté bacon in a cast-iron skillet until it’s crispy. Take the bacon out. Sauté the onions in the bacon grease. Push the onions off to the side and add the chicken liver and sauté. Sometimes I take a potato masher and mash and sometimes I blended it. I add gray Poupon mustard, a spoonful of sweet relish and some mayonnaise and ground pepper. We like to have diced up red onions and capers and gray Poupon mustard to top it with ,if we’re not dipping ,ialmost like a Smoked salmon and toast points.It is to die for. Happy cooking.

If only I knew how easy this is to make I could have been eating chopped liver for the past year. I live in an area where they call a "deli" but is only a sandwich shop. I called one and asked if they made chopped liver, they responded, "liver"? "No, we make nothing with liver". I just need to get over the whole raw liver thing. I so preferred to just go to a real Jewish deli and pickup a couple pounds of chopped liver, put it between two slices of soft white bread for such a treat.

First off, I don't know where you live, but that AIN'T a real deli if they don't make liver! ;) This liver is actually not raw when you eat it - you broil it and then blend it. Just don't look at it long before you throw it in the oven to cook. You'll love this!
