OK, so I just made your rice recipe. I followed your instruction right down to the 90 second rinse. Apparently my taste in rice is like yours because it was the best rice I've made in the IP so far, really excellent, not mushy at all. Since this cooked rice is only moderately moist it would be perfect with a sauce, as you suggested. Took the IP Ultra 6 min to heat up to pressure, 3 min to cook, and 10 min release for a total of 19 min. I really like 3 parts jasmine mixed with 1 part brown rice and cook it basically like you'd cook jasmine. For that i think I'd need to cook a little longer or add slightly more water or both. Hmmmm.

This is my new favorite kitchen tool! Day 1 I was going to pressure cook a meat ru-vid.comUgkxG-7WiT7ocumjytOpHDFt632PL0pxXRAg and potato stew, decided I wouldn't eat it that night so I went with a slow cook so I could go to bed and put it away in the morning. I love that versatility! The sauté feature works great and adds tons of extra flavor to dishes, and I can easily sizzle meats in the bottom then deglaze for some restaurant worthy flavors.Big bonus - you can cook a whole frozen chicken in about 2 hours. Amazing! I've seen a couple videos, haven't tried it yet, but I will soon!

I have to say, I had a pressure cooker, a rice cooker and the Instant Pot. The pressure cooker I got I thought was wonderful, but quickly learned it was not the best for making rice. I had it a few years before I decided to try a rice cooker. The rice cooker wasn't really any better as far as the end results, but was a bit easier to use for rice than the pressure cooker. But the some of the rice still came out burned. But I have finally had the best results with my Instant Pot! So much so that I gave the rice cooker away, and I can't remember the last time I used the other pressure cooker. I've kept it because of its size and in case I ever wanted to cook more than one thing at a time. But it's really just taking up space; so, perhaps I should consider donating that as well. The Instant Pot really has been the only thing I've needed.

Tried in my mini 3qt. 2 cups rice, 2 cups chicken stock. 3 min pressure, 10 min Nat release. Rice was underdone. Kind of hard in the middle. Maybe it wasn't underdone, but to me it seemed that way. Rinsed rice and everything. I was using my non stick pot and the mini so maybe that had something to do with it. Should I just add another minute or two to the pressure time? Maybe since it's only 3 qt it came to pressure alot faster than the 6 would have so it essentially cut down to total cooking time. Any ideas are welcome

Six sisters website says that the time is the same no matter how much rice you have. Because there is more water and rice in it it will take longer to come to pressure.

You don't need to. It would be the same. After all, pressure is pressure.

Suggested cook times for simple rice are insanely different, your time is the lowest suggested time. I've seen up to 12 minutes suggested and usually 8 to 10. Everyone says it's perfect

I have yet to see any RU-vid teaching videos use the buttons on either side of the digital window. If you make rice, why not use the rice option in the upper right side ? Also, no salt and no butter at all ? Must be bland. Counting on covering it with something else I guess. Thanks in advance. I’m waiting for my 3 quart Instant Pot 3 quart mini to arrive tomorrow. Rice is going to be one of the first things I’ll make. I’m getting it pretty much to make rice and heat up leftovers from the freezer, etc. My primary 9 in 1 is an 8 quart Ninja Foodi but Ninja apparently doesn’t make them this small. I’ve also ordered a non-stick pot for the 3 quart. My Ninja Foodi has me spoiled to that.
