Hi Pailin. Here in Malaysia we called it as kerabu maggi. kerabu means salad and maggi means instant noodles/ ramen. but the recipe is totally inspired from thailand. And the trick to have a good salad is we need to use the ramen from thailand, otherwise it will not taste really good.
Omgosh Pailin!!! I'm from Philadelphia, Pa. There are quite a few Asians from different countries where I used to live. I'm African American, but when we moved to Philly, I was taught to crush the Ramen noodles just as you said! We did it almost everyday b4 school opened and it tasted sooo good! 💞 I loved that and jumping over the flexible rope and seeing who could go the highest!
I am so gonna try this at home. So funny because as a kid I liked smashing the dry noodles and eat it like chips and I like breaking my dry noodles in fours in the bag too before boiling it. Lol. Love your show and cooking.
Bought some Ma Ma today because of this episode. Didn't go to that shop for noodles but once I saw they had these I got all excited. They only had about three flavours though
i love chefs who eats their food after 😊 it brings me a good satisfaction hahhaa I mean I have watched it prepared so it would be a cliff hanger if was not eaten...
Awesome job!! Just subscribed you are well spoken you explain it simple and down to the point you dont ramble or bla bla bla .. keep up the great recipes!!! And thanks...
I used to eat it every day from a vendor close to my condo in Bangkok. It’s a super yummy quick meal you grab on your way home. :) thanks for the recipe!
Question...if I want to make this for an afternoon work potluck I'm guessing I should not add the dressing but wait until it's time to set it out. And also is it OK to keep the cooked noodles (everything, really) in the fridge? Will it taste ok cold or should most things be kept at room temp?
Mama salad is one of my comfort foods...cheap and cheery and so easy to add twists to. I love the way you present.... You make everything look delicious and fun to make. X
Uses this recipe but used vermicelli rice noodles instead as no mama. Tasted absolutely incredible this dressing is delicious this is my go to dressing from now on!
Would love to see more recipes involving instant noodles! My husband uses Sapporo Ichiban noodles but makes it Thai style by adding chili vinegar, pork, leftover duck, beef ball, cilantro, etc.
Your smile, your enthusiasm, your energy, your presentation, your food, they all work in sync! New subscriber! I enjoyed this video I hope to watch more! 😊
I love MAMA Tom Yum have a Thai Grocery only 3 miles away ...the noodles are awesome dry as a snack only that brand they are seasoned . .I currently have 10-15 packs in house .. I'm trying this
Famous noodles in Thailand, I always buy a few packets everytime I am going. Street vendors usually use the same noodles for spicy Porc or duck Noodles Soup, really refreshing after a party night(for hangover). I used to say chinese and indian foods are the most famous food in the world, after visiting Thailand several times, I have to say Thai food is much more tastier, healthier(even spicy) and delicious than both chinese and indian foods.
Instant noodles turned into a thai salad why not i love it so next time i go back to thailand i should try it and i think even the lucky me pancit canton here in the philippines i can make
I love the Mama Green Curry noodles. What are your thoughts on a modification using one pack only of two of the seasoning, and going from there? I don't recall the flavour of the oil though....
Even that I can't eat sea food looks awesome! I miss you baking Pailin lol As the custard cake. I subscribed on your channel after seeing that cake !! 😋
I eat it sometimes too I get it from my grocery store in the international Isle here in United States. The store is called Wegmans. They normally carry that brand.
I LOVE the Tom Yum flavor!! I discovered it first at the international section of my local Walmart. I wonder if the Thai noodles or international noodles are higher in quality than the Top Ramen here in the US? Because the Top Ramen and Maruchan doesn't break down in your stomach because of all the preservatives.
I buy tons of Mama! Actually I get a lot of ramen from a lot of places... Thailand, China, Indonesia, Vietnam, Korea, etc... but Mama has the most flavors and tend to be some of the cheapest. :D
wow mama noodles is Thai😱 I didn't know 😝 we have it in Bangladesh too . its my favorite😊😊..my mom just brought it today..we got a small glass bowl with it for free😝😝
I was born in Ukraine and actually we had same type of instant noodles there! When you said you ate them "raw" with seasoning from the bag I was like .... OMG !!! I did the same !!! Hahaha these noodles are absolute trash but how tasty they are !!
Heller Kitty hahahahah you're so dumb my poor xD if you were able to read you would notice I called food from MY country trash xD whatever go to school xD
As a Thai person it's really a trashy food lol. It's very delicious but offers little to no nutrition but since it's so satisfying to eat I tend to turn the blind eye. It's like a guilty pleasure or something.
Hi, i am allergic to fish. Do you have any alternatives to fish sauce? I have managed to find an alternative to oyster sauce from Lee Kum Kee but i don't know what to use instead of fish sauce. Thanks
One of my co-workers is from Thailand, and she is my friend as well. She took to me to a Thai Restaurant here in Japan, and it was amazing. I love your video tutorial, and someday I will surprise her to cook something for her. I have tried the green curry from your country, and it was delicious. She cooked it for me. Please cook more and share with us...by the way, I think all Thailand women are pretty. She is and you too.
Chinese we call these type of noodles fan mien mien and me too when I was a kid I used to eat it like this! So crunchy so yummy ahah. Thank you as always
Hi Pai, Lovely video as always. I have two questions to ask you: 1. When we see you measure something out of a bowl (e.g. fish sauce), do you pour the rest back into the bottle? 2. When are we going to see a SQUID recipe on HTK? I was very surprised to find that there are none! Thanks!
So, the fish sauce, I always measure into a bowl and never out of one...so I never have any to pour back into the bottle. Squid! I don't really like squid...but I do like a good deep fried calamari so maybe that's something to make :)
