19:57 This moment is so sad. The first time Jude actually allows herself feel the grief of her friend's death-like she's been holding it in for the sake of everybody, especially Jamie. Excellent acting from Alexz. Her emotion is so raw.
They weren’t really ride or die. They were supportive at times and other times totally clueless and made things worse for Jamie and Jude. Especially Spiederman.
Jamie was projecting to an extent. Jude just happened to be there and closest to him, but he's no more to blame than she is. Neither of them knew how to deal with what happened or with their own grief. To be fair, Patsy was on a road to self-destruction from the onset, I don't think anyone could've reached her.
Patsy clearly didn’t just have a drinking problem. She mentioned her mother going off her meds and that her brother was also an addict. Clearly not only the illness of addiction ran in her family but also some serious mental illness. From her behavior, I’m guessing schizophrenia or something similar. Sadly, if she had gotten help and medication versus self medicating she could’ve had so much potential. It’s one of the best storylines on this show because it’s not just unnecessary teenage drama, it’s about something real and heartbreaking.
Really? I always took it as Patsy growing up in an abusive household thus drinking excessively and probably doing drugs. The show couldn't just add drugs to the episodes so they only added drinking as is socially acceptable and let the rest for our imagination IMO. Never thought she had schizophrenia or something like that. She's not having hallucinations or hearing voices. She's not paranoid or anything else. She's wasted as fuxk and self destructive which points to addiction instead of mental illness. To me the whole arc is just Patsy being an addict because of her rough childhood (I'm thinking addict parent that beat her and/or neglected her) and acting like one.
@@sool47 I feel ya, I guess it’s open to everyone to interpret their own way. Her mentioning her mother going off her medication is what gave me that impression but it could’ve been any mental illness for which she was medicated. That was just my guess. I have a close personal friend that developed schizophrenia later in life, as it often happens, and the behavior they wrote for her reminds me a great deal of what he went through. He self-medicated as well. I’m a former addict myself and it doesn’t always have to stem from mental illnesses, as in my case it didn’t, but sometimes it does. I dunno if the writers ever clarified but I would love to read about it if they did. I really loved Patsy’s humor on the show before she went downhill.
@@bellatrix6896 I think the writers never clarified. To me, the mom comment was more to show her childhood was not perfect and mom probably had some issues (which is why I thought neglect/abuse). But what solidifies the addiction angle for me is her brother also being an addict (her comment about him having no teeth) But yeah, I can also see some mental health issue being the problem, given that Patsy wasn't this crazy back in season 2. So that could explain her going from a little crazy but mostly cool to the mess we see in season 3.
@@sool47There are a bunch of other disorders that would definitely explain this and run in the family. Especially watching her behaviour and what she said about her mom (and the fact that I was the first one when I was in high school to recognize that my friend had it), it seems pretty manic-depressive to me. Though, schizoaffective disorder feels like it could also be apt.
Patsy wasn’t fearless. Quite the contrary - she was living in her amygdala. She was a fearful child who had suffered severe ongoing trauma and lacked a caring adult.
I think it's important to know that Patsy was in her early twenties and Jamie would have been only 17 here. He didn't have the maturity to handle her death
Jude expressed herself thru music so she couldn’t understand how that was not someone else’s escape. Jaime saw the potential and got lost in trying to save her…that’s all
