sharpen up your pencils - class is in session at the Insyder's Airgun Academy. Professor Tyler is always combing through the comment section for questions and RU-vid user Coinhound had several good questions about scopes. Keep those questions coming. You never know when we will make a video answer!

Wow that was the best explanation of how this sighting in stuff works for a novice like myself I had it all backwards. Now I have a better understanding on how my gun performs, thanks PA

I am a beginner air Gunner, I'm just learning my scope it is a inexpensive scope came with my air gun this video was really informative thank you so much for that information I will pass what I learned here to my friends who also have my PCP air gun as well we are experiencing practice levels had different ranges so far so good great I'm using a low caliber weight and pellets it is a very lightweight, but the distances is are 15 yards to 25 yards good shooting good

Clearly a great video the only thing I would add is that it is important to get that horizontal and vertical lines exact before you zero , you do this by using a level and a plumb bob after you mount the scope, not sure if Tyler mentioned this step , it will make a difference when making the long shot.

Good video Tyler.... let me just say, as a hunter, I demand good scope fit, regardless of the pros and cons of height. That being said, most of my guns force me to use high rings... Airforce Texan and Condor, Evanix Rex, and Kral puncher breaker.... and I sight in for whatever purpose that particular gun serves. For instance, the scope on the Kral sits pretty high... it's basically a small game and pest gun, so I sight in at 30 yds, and 50 yds is the first hash mark down... interestingly, if I turn the scope down to 4 x, the first hash mark also works at 40-50 feet...

In fact the zero range isn't that short at all its just pushing it furthur back, for the 4" scope height the flat plateau extends from say 20.6yds all the way to 29yds which pretty close to the 2" scope height.

More great info here thanks again. I see this is from 2017, that's when content creators all started looking at different cameras and loosing the connection with the viewers directly while trying to pretend to look like the evening news. I hated this period and am glad to see it going away. Thing is when the evening news did this the newscaster followed the camera that was filming him/her maintaining direct eye contact with the engaged viewer, by not following the camera that's doing the filming "what's going on in this video and many others from different channels", you are basically telling the viewer " im tired of looking at you, moving on to somebody else now" a tad bit rude even if done unintentionally. By always looking at the camera doing the filming keeps the viewer feeling like this video instruction/review was made just for them inspiring a great feeling within. Like I said im glad that this trend is going away, I never was one for trends and always liked to stand apart from the copy cat crowds. Thanks again for sharing this great info for all of us. Take care out there....Mike

Great video with good information. Just one more question though. How does parallax adjustment work? What's the downsides of using a scope without parallax adjustment?
@charlesaldridge5584
@charlesaldridge5584 7 лет назад
The parallax adjuster brings the reticle onto the same focal plane as the intended target. Without having the ability to adjust the parallax distance, objects (targets) will appear slightly or greatly out of focus.

Excellent explainations and graghics. Will definitly ear mark this for future reference. One additional question that I have, if I may, is does the scope height have any impact on the effects of canting the gun off level side to side? I know canting is bad but can some of it's effects be mitigated by using higher or lower mounts or side mounts, for that matter?
@tylerpatner6591
@tylerpatner6591 7 лет назад
Good question. In my experience, the effects of canting a rifle will be more pronounced on a higher mounted scope. That is why I use a bubble level on many of my scopes/rifles to help mitigate this as much as possible. Especially when shooting longer ranges where you're more likely to see the effects manifest themselves. A higher mounted scope also makes a gun a bit harder to center (in terms of cant) while holding.
@jamesdenny4734
@jamesdenny4734 7 лет назад
Hello, another question.... why did you sight in on the highest magnification... is that the magnification you always use on this gun ? Enjoyed the video, thanks
@tylerpatner6591
@tylerpatner6591 7 лет назад
Great question. I always sight in my rifles using the highest magnification the scope has to offer. Reason being, the highest magnification is your most precise setting. And when you sight it in on the highest setting, you can decrease the magnification without having to worry about your set zero point moving as a result of the mag change. I have seen some lower end scopes zero shift when changing magnification, and this is typically a result of a defective scope in my experience. Hopefully that answers your question.

Love that Walther, but the price is a killer, come on Crossman there are a lot of us backyard shooters that would be all over a sub 12 ft lbs gun with over 500 shots per fill at a working man's price ( under $300)

Thank you for this great video. I've zeroed my Hawke 4-12x40 scope on Benjamin Marauder 22 at 50 m (54 yards). How can I get a trajectory graph for that in Chairgun app? Or on some other software that I can use on my phone for instant calculation? Also, I am thinking of investing in ATN X-sight II for FX Dreamline that I will be buying the day it's out. Will that work fine on a PCP rifle? And is there a good review of that scope anywhere that I can find?
@markhooper-bc7kh
@markhooper-bc7kh Год назад
just curious, I have to use reading glasses to see the scope reticle, but it is not safe to walk in the woods or much of anywhere with them on. so do you know if the focus adjustment on the eyepiece is adjustable for say 2.5 equivalent reading glasses to see the rectical and the target or does the focus just work for the target and not the rectical.. thanks

Hello, i don’t understand why the impact is low at 10 yards when zeroed at 25?
@senatorjosephmccarthy2720
@senatorjosephmccarthy2720 4 года назад
Calisse2crisse, because the pellet reaches its axis of trajectory somewhere beyond 10 yards, so at 10 yards the pellet is still rising.
