@@boomboxradio2414 It is expensive if you think of it as a dedicated gaming device, which it is, but it's less expensive when compared to other technology like IPad Pro, Samsung S7 tablet or S21 Ultra which i bought recently. If you have a gaming laptop, you probably already own the games that you will want to play on it which makes total cost of ownership less then Nintendo Switch and its expensive games.
What makes me want the AYA NEO more is the right analog stick placement. The Win 3 having the sticks symmetrical from each other above the buttons is a no go for me.
@@suli559 learn to read I said above the buttons. On the PlayStation controllers the buttons are higher than the sticks. Thank you for being ignorant. 🙏🏼
@@suli559 My favorite controllers are actually a PS5 Dual Sense and a legacy nvidia shield controller, I only use xbox controllers when playing dark souls, so I actually do enjoy symmetrical joysticks as much as you do. But we are talking about joysticks above buttons here, although I really love WiiU and Razer Edge Pro as a collector/gamer, still can't say that control layout is even close to being comfortable...
Seriously since What Sony done with PsVita (abandoned it) ... I don't care about them... Even if they come this time with the best handheld device of the market. And I just understand that Windows handheld devices are the future of gaming... Now I will go with Aya Neo. But I have an eye on UFO to see what they will bring if they come back ✌️
These machines are basically Xbox Handhelds cus Xbox has XPA and xCloud under its disposal, also cus PSPA isn't possible... And with full PC browser... I can read my news, watch youtube and other online activities on the go without ads. * Hyper-V & Virtual Machine is the foundation of robust and streamlined backward / forward compatibility quick resume and xCloud. * PS family runs games natively. Sony has to keep buying PS4/5/6/7&Pro cores, has to keep testing games&apps on new hardware, OS and API. $60 a game from MsStore, you gain good BC/FC support, on the go gaming with or without a viable internet connections. That's a very simple if-else choice tbh.
Psp 2 Btw,the problem is there's no companies can make a core like atom with big core like performance zen (or skylake) minimum Edited: and the 2nd problem is they cannot fit a powerful gpu into the die
I dont even want to play triple A titles, I just want to play my side scrollers on a hand held with out having to re-buy my steam library on my god damn switch.
@@jollyrancherchick He posts a review basically every singe day, there is no way he has time to test out multiple things and decide which one he likes, then go through it enough to review it and have time to switch to a different product if he happens to not like the one, and the write a whole script and record and post for a vide every day of the week. That's completely absurd.
I play a lot of driving games, and love Sand box games with vehicles. I would rather have had the NEO, but Ive ordered the win 3 purely due to the analog triggers.
Your content is amazing! You give such a deep dive into the systems, and then such a well rounded comparison that's so easily understood with your speech skills! Great job once again Taki 🥰☺
Something to add about the GXpro, M.V.A made joycon compatible rails that click into the controller slot that opens up the controller options exponentially. Imo you can get the best controller of the 3 bc of it. I use the binbok joycons and it's great. And since the usbc charging port is on the bottom you never have to remove the custom rails so it works the same as the included controller
I find it funny that the GX Pro has a Gundam themed backing when the only Gundam game PC has is that crappy 'reboot', which apparently flopped so bad they will never port the rest of the series.
Thanks for such an informative video, I have been thinking on these alot, and you have helped me put things into a better perspective. Plastics and materials used for build quality is another big thing for me so thanks again for that👍🏾
@@kanishcktewatia597 it performed the best at 8w or lower and has the better mins, average framerates are important but not as much as mins, highs don't matter....
Great comparison. You highlighted a few shortcomings of the win 3 that definitely were not given much attention in other videos from the community, so thank you for giving a more critical perspective. Still getting the win 3, but this definitely made me consider things a little more
One point about 720p screens - I would pick 800p screen over it any time of the day because some old games had limited choice of resolution and for example Rise of Nations RTS had a minimum of 768p so it didn't work on a netbook with 720p. Maybe that was fixed later on though.
Not just that but if you get games that are in a 1024x768 you should be able to frame that in there properly with no scaling. Huge plus for some older games that cant 16x9 well
i see the neo as a pure gaming device for games that have full controller support. the keyboard on the win 3 can help in certain situations if you have to tab out of the game or have addition keys etc..
“It never did” They can’t market a niche product like the UFO On one side you’ll have people like us nitpicking the device and on the other you’ll have dumb-dumbs upset they can’t run Cyberpunk at 60fps
@hwhehe hehehe I've purchased 7 Alienware products over the last 20 or so years, never had any issue with them except for maybe the 4-500$ brand pricing.
I'm surprised you didn't go a bit more into the ergonomics and design of the 3 products. I had no idea the GX was around, but it looks like a much better Win product in every way, keeping with the clamshell design and opting to have the controllers be detachable side features, instead of going for the faux-Switch route. Clamshells are just so beneficial for mobile products, and it's really obvious GPD and AYA were more capitalizing on the Switch making the tablet shape popular than anything, especially since the Win 2 and MAX both made such great usage of the clamshell shape. As somebody that avidly uses the Win 2, I'd sooner recommend a small gaming laptop over taking chances with yet another tablet shape. They're more likely to get screen scratch, they're not any more mobile-ready than clamshell products, and the real estate provided by the clamshell design means actually having a keyboard, which is a huge detriment for the Win 3, and doesn't even exist on the Neo.
The best thing about the AYA is that moving up to AMD zen3 5xxx should be trivial as its pin compatible and the performance per watt is almost 25% IPC better. Here's hoping for a rev 1.1
I love the Win 3's ability to actually use eGPUs to expend the device's capabilities. But the Aya Neo looks more comfortable to hold, potentially because I'm used to the original Switch. Hope both will be available in Europe later this year, I'd love having either one.
@Name It's not in that video but the Win 3 is based on the latest Intel chipsets and the bottom type C port is fully equipped and allows for the use of thunderbolt eGPU cases.
Once again another FANTASTIC video and arguably your best. I appreciate the time and attention you put into preparing and releasing this video. Although it appears the Win 3 is the better performer, you solidified my opinion on the screen size @06:38 but I guess that's what reading glasses are made for.
Basically, Neo for me, good price for a big screen, GPD Win 3 for the performance freaks out there with good eyesight OR the next Win Max model. The other one is just too expensive at 1400.
...bad eyesight. Myopic people look at things more closely, someone with perfect vision might struggle to focus so closely, and if successful won't have perfect vision for long.
This video was incredible keep up the good work I followed you since the beginning and just keep being the best you are ultimately the best and have the best insight into things people don't even think of but they need to know and appreciate the fact that you do it thank you
I was going to buy the Aya Neo for it's better controller layout and bigger screen but I did a lot of thinking and it's safe to assume that the GPD win 3 is the much better option for the long run since it's the most powerful out of the 3 even though it's screen isn't impressive.
@@TheOwwen not at all. Why are gaming phones not that great? And why do I need a separate device for hifi, loseless sound? I'm waiting for them all to become one.
@@mattmab25 Gaming phones aren't that great? Gaming phones already have an incredible computing power. If anything, the problem lies in the developer side. Why would they develop good games as they'd have to do with consoles and PC, when they can just release lame F2P gatchas, right? But that's not a problem with the device itself -smartphone-, those companies are just too greedy. However, games like Genshin Impact prove it's possible to release highly detailed open world stuff. Smartphones, consoles and PC are already the same thing, as you're asking for. And they come in different sizes and power.
@@TheOwwen I mean if we're talking linux + top end gaming phone sure but they never get the cool handheld experience that these devices get even with the added switch style controllers because of their size. And like I said, even gaming phones don't meet my sound requirements like a proper DAP does.
I didn't see a comment about the plastics when I skimmed through so here's my two cents: PC (polycarb/polycarbonate) is extremely strong to the point where it's common to be used in things like protective shields and safety glasses. ABS is a mid-low tier polymer that's often used in cheaper products when it's solely on its own and is not as tough as polycarbonate. This is probably the most common polymer used on the market today for random consumer products because it's pretty strong when molded for correctly and very affordable. It's often used on its own (just ABS; no mix) for things like Nerf blasters, vacuum cleaners, alarm clocks, and so on. I've come to associate ABS with cheaper products, usually there's better material options for really anything but they're more expensive. GF10 refers to 10% glass fiber reinforced. Adding glass fiber to polymer is a similar idea to why rebar is added to concrete (not exactly, but the details aren't important for the analogy) and is a premium addition. It's most often seen added to Nylon in the case of things like power tools and even firearm handles. There's a significant investment into deciding to add glass fiber reinforcement due to not only increased material cost but also tooling cost. The molds will experience a lot more wear. The flimsiness of the PC+GF10 in the GPD device is likely due to one of or a combination of the following problems: 1. Material Thickness (too thin) 2. Case Design (lacking reinforcements) 3. Quality Control / Finish (rough pieces feel bad in hand and don't fit together well) *Note: This is coming from a failing mechanical engineering student going what's off the top of his head at 4am. I am not an expert.
GPD really screwed the pooch this generation with their new design, if they had just upgraded the Max then it would of been an easy purchase. Because of that and drivers the Aya Neo is a better buy IMO.
Owned the One-GX for a wile now and must point out that the controllers are separate Bluetooth and in-game lags happen a lot via 2 separate bluetooths connecting to each other and then connecting to the base laptop (lag/un=pairing).
Thank you so much for the video, well for me it seems the Neo is the best option, my eyesight isn't the best so the bigger screen would be preferable. Plus I like how it manages things automatically better then the other two. And it's quieter at higher power. I like he Win 3 it looks really cool but it's build quality should be a match at least for the other two for its price, and that screen text is too small I think. I had a Switch Lite and loved its small design but had to trade it for the OG Switch because I found the screen too small. So I know if I get that Win 3 I'll just hate the small screen and text. But a great video that's helped me decide which to get.
Never thought about a higer resolution screen will make the system work harder and give less battery life. Now i understand why the switch is 720p and lower in handheld. So in retrospec nintendo created a very unique hybrid known as the switch, still i would love to see a 1080-1440p@ base 60fps in handheld and dock mode 1440p to upscaled dlss 4k
Not only that but adding more RAM increases power consumption and reduces battery life. 16GB of system RAM would eat more power than 8GB for instance, not twice as much power but still greater than 8GB. Nintendo used 4GB of onboard RAM and that is another smart decision to make the battery last longer.
Still in between the Win3 and the Neo. The Neo is cheaper, but it's a bit too big for what I'd like for a handhleld with the Switch already being at my max. It's dedication to gaming keeps it from having second edge of general productivity. And to top things off is it's storage and lack of SD card slot. As for the Win3, it's a good size and I don't mind the screen since I'm used to smaller screens on handhelds. But it is more expensive by $100 - $200 depending on which model I get not counting the dock. And speaking of the dock, the built in keyboard sucks ass, but I don't see myself using it out side of productivity. And if I do use it for productivity I probably have it docked. As someone else alrady said; these devices are good. But damn, their short comings really are short comings.
You have an easy fix there. If you want to be productive on the go, just buy a small external monitor (something like an 8.9 inch) and a wireless keyboard and mouse and connect those to the Win 3's dock. You'll only need 2 cables, 1 hdmi from the dock and a usb cable to power the monitor from a power bank. Or you can go for an external monitor with a built in battery to remove the power bank from the equation. My setup is, I play with my Win 2 in handheld mode when I want to play with a controller, and connect it to my Nexdock when I want to play with a keyboard + mouse.
When talking about Windows OS and x86 CPU(GPU) devices, we only can imagine those big ass desktop and wide screen laptop, back on a decade ago! But now, there are downscale to such small machine that you can hold it on your palm 👍
a few gaming benchmarks would be very nice in 15 watts and max watts. and maybe a couple of retro systems (compare where what maybe works better) otherwise a very good video Greetings from Germany
Sound as measured on a decibel meter isn't linear, it's logarithmic. So, there's a big difference between 20dBs and 30dBs. I'll add a chart, but it's a good start. A watch ticking (20dB) is twice as loud leaves falling (10dB). 30dB is 4 times as loud (think birds flying by) than our falling leaves and 40 dB (think of a quiet conversation), is 8 times as loud as leaves rustling. Loud conversation is 16 times (50dB) than our leaves. (10dB). So, at these thresholds, a few dB seems "close" but it's actually magnified. Hence why the 1st and 3rd, may be close in decibels, but audibly there's a big difference. www.explainthatstuff.com/soundlevelmeters.html With that being said... something's up with his editing or hid decibel meter.. (or if he's just using it's recorded feed on his audio/video editing app) because, they're clearly not the same.
change the thermal paste on the one gx pro and youll see that the fans are able to keep up just fine. After I changed the paste on mine from the crap china paste to thermal grizzly, my temps dropped quite a lot
honestly that neo looks quite a treat for handheld gamers. battery live was quite a bummer, bet this will be less of a issue in the next 4 to 5 years if we talk about devices with the same perfomance. for now the nintendo switch for me is sort of fine except the fact it lacks the games and does not share my pc games makes it in long term use quite expensive to keep yourself entertain.
Hey awesome comparisons man! But how did you manage to the get the 1.5hrs fully charge on win 3. Is the battery totally drained upon testing or not? Thanks man
@@TakiUdon At $1,000 this would have been a no-brainer, but by the time I configured it One GX1 Pro on Geekbuying for purchase it was $1,560 with state tax and I wasn't sure whether I would get hit with the 25% tariff Trump imposed on some Chinese technology products on top of that. Way too expensive for what it is. I could get an Aya Neo and a GPD Win 3 for around the same price. I'll stick with my GPD Win Max for now and wait to see whether they come out with an updated model somewhere down the line, which I understand is rumored to be in the works. Short of the newest games, the Max still does great for most titles. The One GX1 Pro is more powerful than the GPD Win Max, but not so much that I would pay $1,560 to upgrade. Having said that, I have wondered whether it's worth it to sell my GPD Win Max on eBay (looks like I could get around $700-$800 for it) and use that money to offset the cost of buying a One GX1 Pro. I already pre-ordered a Win 3 and am waiting to see whether the Aya Neo is a better purchase. And just to give everyone a good laugh, I got an email today from Smach Z saying my top of the line $1,000 pre-order from 2016 isn't dead yet and they are still planning on producing the unit with some upgrades. I know, I am an eternal optimist.
You can get a laptop for the price of these, i feel like it sort of defeats the purpose of why handhelds are awesome. Not only do they play games portably but they are affordable. Just my opinion though
awesome review, Taki, clear and no BS. there is no way in hell i'm gonna even consider GX Pro, it's just too much for me plus i don't it very appealing overall. GPD WIN3, on the other hand, was looking very tempting (considering i have a WIN2) but somehow after watching this i started leaning towards AYA... not sure i'm ready to invest 700 clams into smth like this now (don't have a super need for it at the moment) but if had to make a decision now, i'd consider AYA more than the other 2. thanx again and be safe.
This must have been before the Steam Deck dropped. I own the ridiculously expensive One GX Pro, the Steam Deck, the GPD Pocket and the Nintendo switch. I am 52 so my close up vision isnt good without reading glasses... I generally get most of my use when they are docked. The GPD pocket I use strictly for watching movies using an HDMI cord as I work offshore and normally have a TV to connect to. For gaming, I hate to say it but the Switch with a pro controller is the best, most hassle free experience. The steam deck feels the best in my hand. The GX pro is the most versatile ( not the best gaming however ) but it certainly is built like a tank and has the cool factor. I was going to sell a few of these off... until I got the rokid air AR glasses. They make watching movies and gaming a real blast on these little devices.
