My 2 cents: cascadia is already one of my absolute favorite synths of 2023. What a sound range: From subtle and sweet up to brutal and aggressive. This demo could only cover a part of it and I guess there will follow at least another one. I really like the design, especially the layout of the different sections. The pre-wiring makes a lot of sense and every time when I thought this or that would be great or useful - there it was! For example, it has tap-tempo for the MIDI LFO! And even without using one single patch cable, the cascadia offers the functionality of a mid-sized eurorack modular system but with a much smaller footprint or cable mess.
How’re you liking it 2 months on? I’m still in the trial period. I think it’s a beautiful machine, I barely know or understand what I’m doing but it’s been fun just guessing and getting cool results! Is it a keeper for you? Love yours vids and sound packs!
@@cougarman8 That's been a loaner and although I liked it quite a lot, I've sent it back. Its sound is more on the vintage side and would be a nice addition to Cascadia.
I knew I would love Cascadia but it has surpassed my expectations. It is a joy to explore and feels endless as a stand-alone instrument but integrates so well with the rest of my euro and fixed architecture synths like the Matriarch and PolyBrute. Highly highly recommended and worth every dang cent.
awesome sounds. love the pedal integration, and the amount of distortion options in the signal path - soft clipping at the OSC stage, overdrive in the filter stage, further clipping at the main output. don't always have to use them but great to have!
that's absolutely fine, I guess. Tastes are different and if you don't like a thing why pursue yourself to end up spending money? Better stick with what you've got and make music.
@@VTOLKits no worries, no offense taken. It's just that it doesn't happen the first time I'm struggling with whether or not I should include a patch in a video and eventually it turns out that's the one who receives a lot of attention. Maybe I should readjust my RU-vid radar ;)
Between those two I'd definitely go for cascadia but that's just my taste and preferences. I find the cascadia to sound more versatile but still with a lot of character which is an important thing for me. The waveshaper in its default configuration reminded me a lot of the sound of the taiga but in combination as a whole unit - cascadia wins for me.
That’s well said, and I agree. I have both the Taiga and the Cascadia, and the Taiga’s a good synth that I plan on keeping, but the Cascadia is in a totally different league. The Taiga’s a cool synth, but the Cascadia is a truly astonishingly great synth. It honestly might even be the best mono synth to have come out since the ‘70s
@@Sicolirics Haha I know that's a bold statement, and I don't blame anyone for being skeptical about it (or even annoyed by it). I was honestly surprised to realize that I feel that way about the Cascadia, but I really do. 🙂
Well the cascadia is 3x the price of taiga...I would go for cascadia if I had the money, and besides I have a Pittsburgh sv1, I don't personally feel like a wave folder and 1 VCO more than the sv1 is enough to justify that over the sv1, which sound amazing on its own
