Who's bright idea was it to play an U20s Rugby World Cup in the middle of the Southern Hemisphere's Winter?!! Fair dues to the players involved but by the time we get to the business end of the competition, the pitches are going to be virtually unplayable...

Well rugby is a winter sport after all. Granted, these pitches are F'd after very heavy rain over the last month. They should have hosted it around Joburg - dry season up there with clear skies, cool temps and hard pitches for running rugby.

Ireland have some big, abbrassive & physical forwards. The locks and backrow are massive and they can play the ball really well. Gleeson looks like a future star at number 8. Quinn equally at 7 but naturally also a number 8 and McNabney who can play 6 & 8. Mangan who came off the bench can also play at lock or number 6. Some seriously good number 8s for Ireland in the future Caelan Doris, Jack Conan, Gavin Coombes, Cian Prendergast, Max Deegan, Brian Gleeson. Stacked! All over 6'4 too.

Check this same Ireland teams performances in the under 20 6 nations a few months a go they played some beautiful rugby (the 10 Prendergast wjo you also slammed on another video was player of the tournament) and as regards your comment on another video about the quality of that tournament. Look at the results yesterday and the results in the senior game latey. @@zimzimma5688 Not true. I just enjoy winding you sensitive little leprechaun's up. I do the same with the arrogant, yet insecure Saffa's. The truth is, I have much respect for irish rugby, and the systems implemented years ago, are paying fruit. To win an historic series against the All Blacks in NZ, and follow it up with Grand Slam glory speaks to the success of these systems. Ireland play with great heart, poise, and cohesion, and will be a handful for anyone at the World Cup. I even support the Irish sevens teams with Jordan Conroy and Aimee Leigh Murphy Crowe being my faves. Try scoring supremos. And after the 1st round of this 2023 U20 World Championships, I said on comments, that the most impressive teams to me, were Australia, France, Georgia, and Ireland. I rate this irish team. Aussie were on top until their tight-head prop went off. The the Ireland scrum became dominant. While Aussie had scrum dominance they used the ball positively, setting up lovely back movements. Once Ireland got dominance they used that dominance very negatively, looking for penalties from scrums and subsequent line-out mauls. Picks-and-gos were their modus operandi. Dull and negative. Australia were playing positive rugby until they lost their THP; Ireland played antediluvian negative rugby. If that's the future of rugby, God help us! Three Ireland tries from line out mauls.

Ireland identified a weakness and exploited it to win the game with a bonus point. During the u20 6 nations, Ireland scored the highest number of tries ever in the competition. During that tournament Ireland played a really expansive high speed multi phase attack because the weather and pitches (4g) were far better and allowed that type of game. Perhaps the question u should be asking is why didn't Oz have the ability to front up in the contact area and change their tactics accordingly
