Intense Dreams After Quitting Weed - (Vivid Nightmares)

There are some real intense dreams after quitting weed. Vivid nightmares or realistic dreams because an every night thing and yes it's annoying.
Although it's a good thing because it means you're dreaming again, which means your brain is entering REM sleep for the first time in many years.
After smoking for 8 years I never had any dreams at all but would wake up feeling so exhausted and tired. After stopping smoking weed I realized it's because my brain never got actual rest at night. Many of you are probably feeling the same way.
Weed addiction can have so many negative side effects and then weed withdrawals can feel even worse which so few people truly understand unless they were hooked on weed before.
I can't accurately create a quitting weed timeline for dreams but it seems about 6 months is the point when they finally stop happening with such intensity.
So if you're nightmares after quitting weed is very common and actually a good thing, it's part of your recovery process so don't get freaked out if you're having vivid dreams after quitting weed.
If you like the video please smash the like button and subscribe to the channel if you haven't already.
Thank you so much for taking the time to watch the video. I know marijuana withdrawal symptoms are not easy, especially wondering how long do vivid dreams last after quitting smoking but it does get better!!!

Teeth falling out, being chanced, being in end of the world scenarios, fights, etc. I would wake up emotionally stressed and it would carry through my whole day, but if you keep going without weed, those dreams become dreams of falling in love, having fun, flying,...good things.

This has been possibly one of the most influential and uplifting videos I’ve seen in my journey of quitting. Been smoking for about 10 years of my life now, I’m 28, and these dreams have been absolutely brutal. I’m about 3 weeks sober and every morning so far I wake up feeling like I just played a horror game in VR and took off the glasses after hours of playing and believing what I just experienced was real. Knowing that what I’m going through is actually helping me and improving my mental health is what’s keeping me on track. Thank you so much for this post, you are out here helping people recover and live a better life for themselves free of bad habits and dependency.

That's crazy I'm also 28 and going through all this what gets me more mad at myself is the fact that I believed everyone that said its not addicting yet I'm facing withdrawal symptoms now but either way we push through everything and things always get better proud of everyone going through these stages trying to fix their life/health. I am also 28 and currently four days out of smoking bud, I threw all my stuff away. I’ve been having the worst nightmares since, like I wake up and I’m terrified I have to convince myself for a good 15 minutes that it wasn’t real, but also as you said it feels like a horror game in VR mode it truly sucks. Maybe I could write these crazy nightmare ideas down for a horror themed book 😂. (Gotta laugh or I may cry! 😅) anyways, it’s inspiring to see others in the same boat as me. Health is wealth for real! Just went through this right now for the first time I’ve been clean from weed for seven days now I couldn’t tell real world from dreamworld right when I woke up and I think I was screaming because the last “minute” of my dream I was screaming for help. in the dream, my little sister and I found a portal to another dimension and we thought it was cool at first until we started “abusing it” and the dream got so sinister genuinely scared when I woke up looking at my phone Screen same one I’ve had for’7 months and calmed me down cuz I knew damn well after seeing that im for sure in the real world. Reminds me of Morpheus from the matrix saying to Neo have you ever had a dream that you were so sure was real, but how will you wake from that dream? Or something like that I’ll have to rewatch the 1999 matrix. One of my favorite movies since I was little kid

Im going on 17 days cold turkey from cannabis. I am having very vivid dreams and vivid nightmares. I am not aware im dreaming but can control my own personal actions within the dream. The dreams are so real , i assume im living real life. I can feel touch and pain and emotions within the dream. This really sucks with nightmares. I suddenly wake up and only then realize i was dreaming. Sometimes i wake up and go right back into the same dream when i go back to sleep.

28 year old male here. I had been a daily smoker/dabber for the past 14 years and recently noticed intense anxiety after using. Made me quit cold turkey one day and ever since I have noticed a great increase in lifes outlook and positivity. Everything is much more clear now. Never thought I would quit but it truly does help. Dreams have been a bit wonky but overall I wake up with tons of energy and feel so much better. For those who are thinking about quitting/slowing down, it is totally worth it!

hey how's it been ? you still manage not to smoke ? your comments really caught my eyes since I am 28 years old and also been smoking for 14 years , and smoking A LOT. I have a horrible memory , short and long both trash and I am realizing that I need to abandon this addiction , but I don't think that I can just drop it for good , but instead slowly and steady day by day . I mostly don't feel the huge urge to smoke when I'm alone , but all of my best friends are pot smokers , and most of them are not losers or feel like pot does any harm to them at all , so it's hard for me to explain to them what i'm going thru since they can't relate, like im the only loser in my circle that smokes pot , they all have good careers , girlfriends , some of them have kids and so on . I kinda feel like weed has taken out the pleasure in other things in my life , like meeting people , chasing girls and doing stuff. It is really hard to do a Self evaluation since I started so early with weed in life , I met nice people and changed my perspective in life because of weed, I really love the weed culture and feel that people who smoke tend to be good and chill people usually , we would have that one thing in common and would all get along because of our favorite hobby lol. Perhaps I don't wish to quit completely but to do a moderate use like I do with alcohol , I almost never drink and when I do it's only a can or two max. Anyways hope to hear from you , blessings.

I'm not the guy above, but I'm 30 and stopped smoking 2 months ago without any problems. It was easy for me when I TRULY realized what I'm going up against if I kept on doing it. I kept on getting told he’ll be here soon but was so confused but was wondering who it was and why he was coming for me I was so scared but when I finally met the person he ran in the shop and grabbed me and that’s when I woke up it was crazy tho cause I got the idea he was only coming to help me

It's nice to have an appetite & be in control of my money 😂 My dreams are usually creepy men trying to do things to me I tested this out by not having the fan on so my peeps try the fan technique I believe when we overheat it brings the nightmares on 💯 Thanks for your video ❤

This morning I dreamt of entering a portal into another world and I met this family that accepted and loved me and I fell in love with their daughter who was extremely beautiful.. I was with them for two days I did activities and laughed with them until the second day.. I literally felt myself waking up and I tried to say goodbye to their daughter but she wasn’t around.. I tried to run to the cinema where she was at but once I walked out of the house I was sucked back into the portal then I woke up in my bed feeling extremely lonely.. it felt so real man I cried in bed and it has been bugging me all day.. haha :/ I’m 25 and it was the first time I felt loved by someone and I wish I didn’t wake up at all lol man.. these dreams are powerful

On our journey of self healing all we want or need is to be loved - but if we can find that within ourselves & true happiness in being alone (because when we quit everyone leaves us & we come into the world alone visit for a short time then leave alone) we become stronger than we have ever been without needing or wanting it from anyone else it's draining pleasing other people - the key is to be uniquely weird & owning it - the right people will accept us as we are and if not they can't sit at our tables know your self worth 🙏🏽 I've cut most of my friendship away of 20+ years because they dud not respect me or themselves. I'm sorry you feel alone & it's ok to have a cry doesnt make you any less of a person us humans are funny creatures of habit - I'm certain you'll find people who will accept & love you in the real world just the way you are - but we must love ourselves so we know when we tell someone or they tell us that we know it's true & that nobody is worth being lonely for. I quit 8 years ago after smoking for about 17 years and for about a year had the most extreme and vivid nightmares pretty much every single night. One night about 10-11 years ago while out walking around I had a panic attack that came out of nowhere, whenever I smoked after that it brought back that super intense paranoia and I couldn't enjoy it anymore. Two or three years later I quit smoking. Eventually I noticed my thoughts were a lot clearer and I felt alive again, my day wasn't being consumed about how long my supply would last and how to get more when I ran out.

Thanks, I'm on day 2 and had my first dream in years this morning. It wasn't too bad, but I know the nightmares you speak of. I recommend the Crappy Childhood Fairie and Tim Fletcher to deal with complex trauma which is what most of us are probably needing to deal with in order to quit suppressing our deeper emotions we want to bury.
@robinhendrix66
@robinhendrix66 5 месяцев назад
I hope you're still doing OK. I wish you the best. I'm so glad you mentioned the Crappy Childhood Fairy and Tim Fletcher. Anna Runkle, the Crappy Childhood Fairy, also mentioned the book by Pete Walker, Complex PTSD, from surviving to thriving, a solid handbook for self treating our childhood traumas. I've rented a little place to go and get clean in solitude, and I leave in four days. I got to this point, quitting, due to one of Anna's videos that said if you have any addictions, or criminal or tax stuff weighing you down, it's best to get them dealt with for faster recovery. SO - Alcohol gone (check), minor tax issues resolved (check), and now I'm quitting weed. To help, I'm taking my tablet so I can watch all the videos I want on quitting. I'll work through Pete Walker's book on CPTSD, and I'll consume stacks of paper and pencils for the daily writing practice. And we mustn't forget Gabor Maté, the deepest voice so far on the true nature of addiction. He says, don't ask Why the Addiction, ask Why the Pain? I was the scapegoat in our family, so I come by it honestly. Now I have the tools to pass through this with more confidence. Maybe the dreams won't be too bad with all the work I've done to prepare for this passage in my life. If I can cut off my crappy family of origin, I can cut off weed.

@@r619zapata7 In my opinion, t's best to quit completely and eliminate everything related to smoking from your environment, if not you'll easily fall back into the habit. Smoking is a quick fix, rush of dopamine and makes boredom go away. We need boredom to push ourselves and need dopamine in check, if not we don't want to do anything challenging other than what gives us our quick fix. It's not that it'll destroy your life, it's that you won't ever really accomplish the things you want to truly do, and then you'll realize you wasted your life away at old age to smoking, instead of being present in the moment and doing what actually makes you happy.

I walked up to people begging for an ambulance but everyone was ridiculing me. As I walked "Scotland the brave" was playing through the pipes and tubes they had added. I'm a nutcase and I love these intense dreams because to me, I have a personal interpretation of nightmares being thrilling and fun and something to learn from, especially when I wake up for the day and being able to look back to that night when I woke up in a sweat with a racing heart checking to make sure there's not some demon down the hallway. I get a laugh out of it later. - That's how I got over my fear of nightmares as a kid. Though, I've definitely noticed my dreams after quiting have been really intense, I knew that would be the case going in so I've been keeping a dream journal. Bring it On! I honestly don't want it to end and would love the intensity to increase, if every dream could feel like that 2 day long feeling dream I had, that'd be great, a real adventure and I learnt a lot. Don't be afraid to let your dreams adapt you to becoming a better person, it's worth it. I've got a whole other paragraph I've written for this saved detailing some important dream instances but they're not at all safe for youtube.

Great video! It's been 2 weeks since I quit smoking (smoked for nearly 10 years on a daily basis). My experience is quite positive though. I too always woke up as if I just layed to bed, without remembering any of the dreams I had (if any). I usually slept for 6/7 hours for a full rest and woke up pretty fresh even though I smoked before going to bed. Now my dreams are VERY lucid, and for me it's AWESOME. I used to have many lucid dreams as a teenager but that went away later on. Now I sleep less and I do wake up a few times occasionally but I feel even more rested. My advice is to have a positive view on the things you're experiencing, involve curiosity and self awareness. You are on the right track now and your brain is getting used to it.

It’s amazing I kind of knew this and had to stop smoking because I work in a mountain station where weed have been impossible to find in France ... but it’s amazing I was watching walking dead yesterday and gosh I can’t describe for long my dream but it was real creepy but I actually don’t give a shit because when you wake up I actually find it cool ! Because I’ve not been dreaming for like 2 years until now !

Two weeks now. Vivid dreaming every night. Last couple of dreams I’ve been aware I’ve been dreaming but I’ve been unable to wake up. A couple of times I’ve woke up from the dream but I’ve still been sleeping (dream within the dream). It was horrific.

Ouch. That sounds rough. Waking up from a dream, within a dream, is not something I've experienced but it sounds dreadful. My worst night was, gosh I don't even want to write it, just imagine having pieces of yourself cut off. I'm literally still traumatized from that dream when I first quit smoking a year ago. It gets better though. Wait till your 8th week, they'll stop being so intense.

@@BetterYouNow I’ve smoked weed for 21 years bro. I’m turning 35 next week and I don’t want to be a slave to it anymore. The longest I’ve ever lasted in the past has been three weeks. I ended up smoking again because my dreams were exhausting and I started to feel sorry for myself and lost all my initial motivation to get off it. The first few dreams were cool and interesting, but the longer it goes on the harder it is to deal with. Not only are the dreams exhausting me, but I wake up and I can’t stop thinking about it. As I said, in the last couple of dreams I’ve been aware that I’ve been dreaming and I’ve been telling myself to wake up in the dream - but last night I just couldn’t wake up even though I knew I wasn’t awake. I started to think that maybe I was dead given the fact I couldn’t wake up. I checked my heartbeat and my heart wasn’t beating. I finally “woke up” and called my friend to tell him that I had a dream that I couldn’t wake up from. Five minutes later I realised that I was still dreaming and I can’t even begin to explain how horrifying it was. I fell asleep earlier today when I came home from work and something similar happened. When I woke up the first thing I did was search on RU-vid for advice and found your video. That dream of yours sounds terrifying bro. I was thinking it might be a good idea to try and analyse your dreams to work out the symbolism behind them - maybe if you get a clearer idea of what your body is trying to tell you and fully process it then the idea of falling asleep it might not feel so daunting. Appreciate your video anyway mate. Hope you continue on your journey and manage to replace your addiction with a major positive in your life 👍🏼 sending love from Scotland ✊🏻

@@bassmasta93 I ended up smoking again for a while bro. I took a month off at the start of the year and told myself I would only smoke at weekends. This didn’t last long. Recently I started to cut down how much I smoked, and over a month ago I quit for good. I’ve been feeling better each day but I’m still having unwanted dreams. This time I’m just going to go with it. I hope that they go away in time but I’m not going to smoke weed again.

2 weeks clean after 6 years of smoking every day.. copious amts of wax I had no idea I wasn’t receiving rem sleep let alone screwing with my future health. The REALLY vivid dreams started about 5 days ago and I haven’t been able to escape them, every night is an intense experience and I wake up 2-3 times a night from nightmares where all my friends hate me and I’ve lost them all or my friends child dies in front of my eyes terrible stuff. Reading the comments I have faith that through changes in diet and exercising, meditation and time I will eventually be able to get a full nights rest and dream positively. Has anyone considered trying to gain lucidity while these vivid dreams occur? I’m going to start trying, best of luck to anyone out there suffering through similar dreams as mine.

Hello thanks for this video you helped to understand what’s going on with me, and also that I’m not alone with the nightmare issues in relation to stopping smoking weed. I have been a smoker for 22 years and 20 of them where all day everyday. Like you said what a waste of time and potential. It’s like putting your life in neutral when you should be in drive. This is day 7 for me the most important as I have made it this far a few times and relapsed, but have not given up and kept trying. I think i will make it this time cause I want to better myself now even more. It has become something to conquer getting past this day and win. But these dreams are vivid and nightmareish and they suck totally to know this is a process of healing gives me confidence to keep moving forward. Thanks again for this video it is comforting knowing that I’m not the only one going through this. May God bless you for your humbleness and honesty as it is not an easy thing to put yourself out there on social media.

@BetterYouNow
@BetterYouNow 3 года назад
Am happy you were inspired to get clean. Do it for yourself though and not for your ex because when the break-up wears off it's easy to fall back into bad habits. I was always at my best after a break up, when I was in the worst pain. It's like a wake up call to do what's right, but after the pain leaves don't get lazy and fall back into the trap! Trust me I've been there and done that a few times. You're doing this for you now my brotha! I had a terrible dream last night myself. They're not as intense but even now a year later my dreams can sometimes be too much. Check out Wim Hof Joe Rogan, just watch a few 8 minutes clips, his breathing exercise is life changing and heavily studied by scientist, it's been proven scientifically effective. I use it when my emotions feel bad, it's a complete reset and you so peaceful and calm afterwards. Am here for you Carlos, stay strong!

Oh man this is so true. I’ve been smoking weed daily for straight 5 years. During that time I had jus few dreams and woke up the next day not feeling rest, even after sleeping 8 hours. I realized my health condition was deteriorate and even a deep breath would make my heart to feel uncomfortable, that was the breaking point for me, I was afraid to die. Stopped quitting 6 days ago, and since day 2, I’ve had these horribly dreams where I hurt people (or see how they are being hurt) and that is awful, I don’t remember having dreams so often while I was an active weed smoker ... I now wake up everyday feeling rest, I like that, but I don’t like my dreams. However, I know this is a transition and I hope my body cleans itself soon. Thanks for your video, was very informative.

I have been having bad/crazy dreams every single night since quitting weed. I just woke up straight up traumatized because i dreamt a very small baby was run over by a truck right in front of me and no one was taking her to the hospital. I'm so stressed out right now from that dream that i could cry. I like dreaming but they're all so scary & intense.

Damn bro, I feel like if I made a video about my current situation, it would have been EXACTLY this video. Trippin out man I just basically watched myself... tall to my self... "Sober October" has been the best thing that's happened to me. I'll never abuse cannabis again and I'm only a week in. Thankfully I was deep into health and wellness my entire life, and it kept me from becoming absolutely crushed by my habitual behavior. Letting this daily crutch go was the best thing that's ever happened to me. Currently trying to analyze what the cessation of dreams are telling me because they are coming in patterns of "types of dreams". First few days were super violent dreams. From me doing the harm, witnessing harm being done to others. Last night I had dreams that werent violent in nature, but extreme interpersonal conflict and one that took a sexual twist. Idk this shits crazy. I feel as though since I havent gone into rem sleep for so long, that all of the experiences I've had and things I've watched like violent movies, all the way back to when I used to watch porn.. all of that is no finally being able to be processed and dumped from the system. Stay strong brother. I recommend if they continue longer than 6 months, seek cognitive therapy to hash out what you arent able to on your own. It will take a lot of integration to become fully self aware and to heal from the damage done. ✌🏻🙏🏻
