FYI - I too purchased the same 3 palettes. I was able to easily cut the silicone palette in the middle section with a new blade utility knife to house 2 half pans on each side, leaving the middle section in tact. The silicone while a little thick, cut like butta'. Since there are 2 duplicates among the 3 sets (Cerulean Blue & Cobalt Teal) I was able to put all 3 palettes (sans the 2 duplicates) into one palette! Perfect for traveling! Thanks again Lindsay for alerting us to the deals! Have a great week!
I did the same, but I just used little sticky dots to adhere them to the silicone. It's not a perfect hold, but they stay put okay. The two empty palettes will be filled with other Qor colors. 😊
I bought QOR for the first time when I decided to get serious about watercolor because of the excellent experience I had with the Golden Acrylics. I have not been disappointed. I live for the whoosh with a new tube/pan of paint.
Qor was my first "big boy" purchase in watercolor land. I bought the 24 color, 5ml tubes. I absolutely LOVE them -- the colors are so vibrant, mix well, and, as always with Qor, flow like a dream! I highly recommend anyone looking to try something new to try this brand.
I have the 3 mini palettes, took out the insert from one and can easily fit 24 half pans with magnets in the bottom. For more mixing space I separated the lid of one of the palettes and sandwich it onto the bottom of my full palette with a rubber band. When I’m ready to paint, a small binder clip holds the extra lid to the lid of my travel palette. Double the mixing space!
I love vibrant colors. I live in Alaska and don't get enough of them up here year round. I've painted with acrylics in more serious and playful ways because of their ease of brightness, but lately I'm up for the watercolor challenge and am looking forward to these paints for all their pizazz. I've been researching a lot lately and am loving your channel. This is the second time I'm watching this same video and I love your color mix chart out of all the ones I've seen since watching your video the first time, weeks ago. That thicker color ratio on top to lighter left is genius. Those colors you've made are my jam and I'm definitely purchasing this set, which has been sitting in my Amazon cart for a bit! Thank You so much!!
Yep, I just broke my resolution to only buy supplies that I exhausted! I found all 4 of these palettes for $43.55 so how am I supposed to pass on that price? I know, but I am hopeful that you are enjoying your day.
Love this pallet. It is very easy to work with and the six extra pans to fill make it an excellent travel pallet. Im so glad I got it.🎉 Thanks Lindsay💜
Thanks so much for this review! To me, the magic of Qor is even more notable when you use them in combination with other brands. The “woosh” factor is crazy, and the Aquazol allows these paints to push into other brands with traditional binder. My fave travel palette is Qor and Daniel Smith pans, and the effects are incredible and organic looking for natural subjects.
I tried the tubes and pans with other watercolor and the movement is amazing. I'm not sure if the different binders create the reaction, but it's fun to try. I love the paints.
Qor in tubes was my very first watercolor set I purchased years ago. I own many watercolor sets today, and they are by far my most favorite. The best out there
Thanks! I enjoyed this review and I learned that 5ml tubes have the same amount of paint after drying as an extruded half pan. Never would have guessed but your explanation made sense!
Qor is excellent for travel palettes! The flow is great when you’re using a water brush on the go and they never become sticky or runny. Arches seems to be too “thirsty” for a water brush. The Charvin 48 half set really impressed me, the colors are so bright, even pastels, without any opacity or drying shift that I don’t think I’ve ever seen any other paint like them. They might be worth a look if you can find them! Especially the brighter colors that might appear opaque in the pan- they’re gorgeous!
I ordered the reflective set to use with card making this year and was sent this one and now even though I have some of these colors in tubes, I am trying to decide if I want to keep this one too and just reorder the original set. I love these little palettes!
I found a couple of these on ebay for a steal a couple of months ago and jumped on them, and I love them. The tin is the perfect portable size, and it fits lot of half pans if you take out the silicone (I want to say 22?).
The two you’ve reviewed so far from this Qor set have both been wonderful. Love the paintings you did. The rose you were just playing so pretty ahh I should play later today.
Hullo Lindsay, I am always interested in watching your reviews! I did go looking for these palettes and found a great deal off of e-Bay! I honestly did not “need” any more paints! Yet I have given in to that “want monster” much to often this last year or so. I am glad that you are going through so many different products and I do believe that your opinions help many to avoid spurious purchases, so thanks for continuing to create your amazing videos. I hope you are looking forward to your trip and I wish to encourage you to set time aside for you and your beau and have yourself some fun! Thank you again.
love the other palette granulating set you show dont have them; in my country the half pans from schmincke and winsor do sell similar in price to 5 ml tube. I prefer tube paint but dont travel that much. If you travel the palette a lot use pans. Less risk of paint ouzingout of pans then with tube paint.
If you have more than one of these little palettes and choose to combine them, not only can you take one of the lids and sandwich onto the bottom of the full palette for more mixing space, these tins are also the exact size of neocolor 2 crayons, and hold about 10 of them for on the go art!
I love my QOR paints that I have and I really like the pallet too. This is such a pretty set. It would be nice to see a painting tutorial showing how you desaturated the colors like in your beach painting, not sure if you recorded that one.
Golden does do their own lightfast testing. They put their own rating if there is no ASTM, or if really different than ASTM. I got the urban sketch kit based on your last review, it’s a really fun little palette. I already have most of these colors in the intense set, so fun.
Thanks for the detailed review! I’m super curious to see if the pans and tubes are any different. So I’m looking forward to that comparison! ♥️ I’ve combined the urban sketch and the granulator set into 1 palette. I removed the duplicate cobalt teal and also the cobalt blue, since I like ultramarine blue better. But now I have 2 empty pans. I’m not sure what colors I should fill the pans with. Any suggestions? The tin currently has Ultramarine pink, Ultramarine Violet, Ultramarine blue, Cerulean blue, cobalt teal, cobalt green, benzimidazolone yellow, quinacridone red, van dyke brown and Payne’s gray.
The green reminds me of the white nights ocean green like color their new update palette had if you know wich one I mean. LOVE the orangs though. Wich is suprising caus I normally hate orange :P
If you have the Qor High Chroma set or colors, which I do, (I also have their Earth set..very good,) you will have 3 of these colors already: Dioxizine purple; Quin magenta & Trans Pyrole orange. So for me, I'm gonna get the additional 3 colors to add to my collection. I have wanted to expand my Qor collection and I love the Qor line and want to use it more. Thanks, Lindsay! p.s. maybe u mention this already?...it seems that Qor only sells individual colors in tubes and not in half or full pans....they reserve those for their sets....so I'll be buying the tubes for the 3 colors I need. p.s.s. I looked and see no single half or full pan colors. Do you know a source?
