Interesting. I was diagnosed with Hypothyroid a year ago. Had half my thyroid removed due to cancer. Got all my thyroid levels in the "normal" ranges. My antibodies have come down quite a bit due to diet changes. My T levels have gone up a little bit from the low end. However, I still struggle with energy and severe brain fog. I am literally forgetting my coworkers names that I have worked with for years. Dr. is putting me on TRT and is hopeful this will finally get me back to feeling normal again.

This is quickly becoming my favourite channel. It's just so interesting seeing how much is interlaced when it comes to TRT.

Personally TRT fixed most of the problems I had, but not all. Adding progesterone fixed sleep and mental clarity. Eventually figured out might have thyroid trouble, body temperature was a bit low. Started taking NDT and it fixed hypertension, high cholesterol and inconsistent energy levels. Now wondering if everything was caused by hypothyroid from the beginning. Considering coming off TRT to see if I could go without

Excellent podcast! Three comments: There are T3 receptors in the Leydig cells, so low thyroid hormones can lead to low testosterone. As Dave said, start checking thyroid hormones first before you touch testosterone. Second, unlike with testosterone, small amounts of exogenous thyroid hormones do not trigger the negative feedback loop (wouldn't we wish this with testosterone?!). Larger amounts do, though. Third, there is a link between hypothyroidism and low DHEA. Improving one can improve the other. You need to find out which was off (often, both).

I would recommend you check out Dr. David Brownstein on thyroid and how iodine can help thyroid and why we need it.

Reverse T3 is often never talked about or even mentioned in a typical clinical setting but one should discuss it with their endocrinologist then have it tested as it indicates what the T4 hormones are converting into; active T3 or Reverse T3. But be prepared to shell out more as it is a costly procedure done by private labs; as what I've been informed by my own endo.

It's always good to have conversations about important health markers like Reverse T3 with your healthcare provider.

If the HPTA shuts down from sensing high estrogen then would it not be sensible to use a AI to crush estrogen to the bottom of reference range to preserve best chance for fertility???? Further more is it possible to prevent or partially prevent shut down by keeping estrogen low???

I’m sure this will resolve once they sort out the hormones levels both steroidal and peptide hormones which are your baseline sex hormones and thyroid being the peptide hormon.
