Beano Lifts there are some nice old lifts in Glasgow as well as some new ones to be seen, I know of a couple of 1920s era and 1930s era lifts, some still in operation and one that is listed and was kept but hasn't budged in 30 years or so, the old fashioned ones with the concertina hand-slide doors and mesh sides you can see through. I assume the ones still in use have new motors and control gear but am thinking the one that is out of use will have its old relays and Mercury arc rectifier up in the roof space. I think with a bit of asking about it should be possible to get into the motor room even though the lift is dead, for a 5 minute look around.
