i think this is the best of the 3 new songs they've released so far - he has the line in there, "kinda wish i never did Saturday" - Saturday is a really poppy song from their last album that a lot of the fans didn't like - it's a really catchy song, but very poppy i think the whole theme of this song is he doesn't want to go back to what he used to be b/c he doesn't know if he can beat all these things again - the whole video is a loop, starts and ends the same exact way

Tyler has said that he writes vaguely enough so that each listener can interpret each song in their own way based on their experiences. There are only a few that he has done that are straight forward so there’s no question what it’s about.

loving this song, a lot to unpack. i saw someone comment that the line 'benefit from a shoe with no lace' could be referencing how they remove laces in mental health facilities in case people try to take their life.

I think this is the most complicated one to break down so far from Clancy. It’s got so many references & meanings that can be interpreted. The more I listen the more I see & reading every one’s comments just uncovers more. I like this one a lot though, I feel like I’ve heard it already??? Weird I know but I’ve had that before even though it’s totally new & original it has a kind of familiarity to it. I think the clique allows for so many interpretations because we know that Tyler & Josh write with that intention…. We can all get meaning from our perspective

I personally think you're definitely on to something with the religious undertones being a main theme in all of their music. When I started listening to these guys in 2012 though I made a connection that I feel pretty confident about and that every single religious connotation is also a double to his relationship with blurryface. His Alter Ego. And how if he were to lose connection with his face or blurryface that it would unmake who he is as an artist and a person. And if anybody throws shade for you seeing religious undertones in there it's because they don't have that connection and they're just jealous that you do and of course they're going to lash out at anything different from them because that's human nature. It's a know and well documented instinct in humans to lash out at anything they're afraid of. Called "the fear of the other." It literally terrifies them that you have something they don't. I'm not really religious I'm agnostic. But I respect that connection people have with faith. And I personally wish I had more of it myself. Don't let anybody fuk with you about that kind of shit though. In my opinion you're doing great

yes, that was my comment about religion. and I completely agree, I have to think about this one too because I dont quite understand it yet. I did hear him say he wished he didn't do Saturday so that makes me think he's afraid to be too mainstream but other than that. im clueless. TOP songs I don't love immediately, always grow on me though. they don't have one bad song in my opinion. I did read somewhere the backslide the word, it used in religion a lot.

If someone trashed you for seeing religious undertones in their music, that's just dumb as hell. It's because they are jealous that you have a connection to something that they don't. People are taught that faith is bad for some reason these days. And we all know people always hate and fear what is "different" and not the same as what they are. It's the whole tribal thing. It's human nature to do. Personally, I'm not very religious. I'm agnostic. But a lot of times, I wish I did have a strong connection to a higher power. Would help often to have that connection i think. Especially during hard or uncertain times. Long story short... IMO You're very much on to something when it comes to religion. As another layer of thought, when I started listening to these guys in 2012, I realized that to me, I think those religious references are also doubles for his relationship with his alter ego, Blurryface. And how if he loses his connection to his darker side he may negatively impact his creativity. May just be me, but I think he's scared of losing who he is in every aspect. His faith, his friends, his creativity, and his self doubt are all parts of what makes him the artist he is. And to lose any part of that scares him because it may unravel everything. Or that he needs all of it to be who he has become. But again, that's just me. You're smart to always keep that religious connotation in the forefront of your mind when listening, though.
