Nope, the Christian understanding of God is one being, eternally existing and manifested as three persons. They each possess the divine eternal nature that is God and are the one God together. They are indivisible and inseparable. They can communicate with each other, as well as carry out the exact same will as each other. This means that so long as the Father has existed, so has the only begotten Son and the Holy Spirit. The Father can send the Son and Spirit, and the Son can also send the Spirit. At an appointed time in history the Father sent the Son to carry out the plan of redeeming and reconciling mankind back to Himself. Yes the Son prayed to the Father but that’s because prayer is communication, which is what they have done since eternity past, and that wasn’t ever going to stop once the Son showed up on earth as a man. The Father did not kill the Son, men did. But for that to happen, person of the Son had to become flesh which is what the entire Old Testament points to. Yes the Son is eternal but His flesh is temporary, so He experienced death for our sake.

Jesus was pretty clear and straight forward here: LOVE GOD ALMIGHTY AND LOVE YOUR neighbors AS YOURSELF. That is simply all there is to it to win eternal life in Jesus' standards. It certainly wasn't necessary for the man who asked the question to believe in trinity in order for him to be saved. Jesus assured him Paradise if he believed otherwise. Allah Almighty in the Noble Quran challenges the Jews and Christians to prove that only their way will lead to Salvation: "And they say: "None shall enter Paradise unless he be a Jew or a Christian." Those are their (vain) desires. Say: "Produce your proof if ye are truthful." (The Noble Quran, 2:111)"
