www.instagram.... www.northernkn... The Survive Knife was an old 2.7 LE Guy had laying around. Sending this old knife to me did not effect any outstanding orders. I am simply testing the knife as a tool. That’s it. Thanks for watching!
I purchased a Viet Nam Randall circa 1970 with the soldier's name that Randall stamped on it. I got a deal on it as it's a no 1 fighter with stag grips. I looked him up on the internet and called the sheriff of the county in which he lived. A deputy went to his home and gave him my name and phone #, and he called me within 15 minutes. I told him I had a knife that had his name on it and asked him to describe it to me. He did and there was no doubt it was his. He told me he took it to a gun/knife show and that someone stole it 40 years ago. Much to my suprise he sent me a money order to cover my out of pocket costs, a 2015 Case Trapper xx NOS & another knife that was made in Italy with a very nice thank you note and a patch from his unit, 1st Air Calvary. Monday I'm going to the post office to send this soldier his long lost knife. On a very interesting note we were born a month apart and both of us are left handed. I made another friend for life. Sorry to rain on your video, but I just had to let everyone know.
Nice blades. I just got a Survive EDC-4. Only took a couple weeks from my order date. Had it for a couple weeks now. Thing's awesome. I've been in talks with Guy. I can tell you that I've seen that he is working like hell to set everything right. I think you'll enjoy that little knife
Some great knives getting ready to be reviewed. LT Wright's response was okay I guess, at least they offered to warranty it. Kind of would have liked to find out what happened during heat treat to be so soft. The Hess knife looked pretty neat for such a small knife. I hope the Esee knife works out, I like Esee so I guess I have my fingers crossed. The GEC's look good. Thanks for sharing, Live Long Prosper and Collect Your Own Way!
I'm really looking forward to seeing your testing on that ESEE AGK. That's a knife I've thought about buying, but haven't pulled the trigger yet. If I remember right, ESEE had some hiccups with their S35 when they first started using it, but I think they've since sorted it out. Oh, and that leather Dart sheath is 🔥!!! Cheers, E!
Been carrying a deep cuts cutlery lil rascal magnacut 64-65 hrc. With a taylored by cortes leather pocket sheath, double x clip. I'm super happy with the setup.
bummer on the Lt stuff, they used to make great knives and I think while times are changing and HR have gotten better and harder knives are what people want they are stuck in the old days, over the last 4 years I felt like their stuff has been soft all around, sold off pretty much all of them cause of this.
Nice update 'n keeping it real. Guess the pups at work requested that you work overtime on your day's off. Take care 'n don't let wagging tails fool ya.
HOLY 💩!! YOU HAVE HAIR!?!?! WHO KNEW!?!? 🤣😂 Informative video as always. I have no idea about the “politics” you mentioned. I do like the look of that dart. And I just got my Towser K in Elmax and Kobold 2.0 in 4V. Depends on how I feel might get out and see what they can do tomorrow. Anyway, don’t work to hard. Have a good weekend, Erica.
I can't even deal with stuff below 59-60hrc anymore, sure it's easy to grind but it's absolutely not easy to sharpen when the zombie burr won't die. With most higher hardness tool steels the knives basically deburr themselves as you work up through the stones. 49-50hrc is absolutely not acceptable from anything with more carbon than 420j2.
That's rather disappointing. I like some of LT designs but they're never available in the steels I want (3v and Aeb-l) and 8 found their goal hardness to be lacking. Now hearing it's even lower than that, I think I'm done looking at them. A properly heat treated steel is awesome. Last 3 years I got my hands on some grails like Biruykov in s125 at 64hrc,, Assassin's Knives in m398 at 64 hrc, Cultrotech in Elmax at 65hrc (🛐🛐🛐, makes me want to cry at his awesome it is), DCC Pry Guy in Magnacut at 64.5 hrc. Using those knives has been a dream and the difference between them and production knives is huge. Not just in edge retention. In better geometry, fit and finish, ease of sharpening and other things. I wish I had access to a hardness tester. I got a Real Steel Avangard in m390 and it's supposed to be 62-64hrc and a MBK WPK in s90v at 63-64hrc. Would love to get them tested and see how they do.
What do you think about Ozark Trail knives? They're about the only ones in my price range, and I've only used them in utilitarian jobs, but not in bushcraft/survival situations. I'm not sure what steel the blades are made of, and I'm not versed in the vocabulary used in describing the different types of steel. Would you be willing to do a video on that, and maybe a review of Ozark Trail knives?
I find that response from LT very disappointing. They produce a lot but they are not some of the “big” - “high production” knife companies. LT Knives are not inexpensive…
I like the looks of that Streamlight Wedge. Does it have a magnet like Olight lights do? I'm looking for a good EDC light without a magnet. Magnets really mess with my pacemaker, yes I'm an old fart.
As rediculous as the whole survive knives thing is. I doubt anyone will give you any issues if you end up finding the knife does well or whatever. Im sure it will do as well as 62 hrc magnacut can do. Probably.
The issues with Survive Knives has been going on for several years. They are not fixing their issues instead, they are just kicking them down the road. Don’t preorder anything from them. Period.
I love you honest reviews. Looks like you have some great knives to test. I think you should leave Survive knives out of the conversation no matter how great their knives are. They have left thousands of prepaid customers hanging and have basically stolen their money. No free advertisement should be given them
@@ericasedcKathleen trolls on every survive video on RU-vid I would ignore her. She obviously has her mind made up and doesn’t believe in second chances.
It is very surprising that the LT Wright was that soft! The only word to describe a knife like that is crap. There is no reason for it even if there main concern is toughness above all else anything below 56 or 57 is just total crap! In the 40's is where springs are treated not knife steel.
Hey can you tell me why not to do a pre-order for survive knives? I bought a gso2.7 on secondary for way to much but I love it so much and was very close to pre-ordering a gso3 until I seen this video.if you can briefly explain,Thanks!❤
@@johnb.7297 There’s been an ongoing issue with Survive fulfilling preorders for a while now, and it’s complicated so I’ll keep it simple. I purchased a few knives from Survive. They made knives available for preorder, and the knives have taken much longer to finish than originally anticipated due to some issues with the knife steel. Guy (the owner of Survive) is investigating the issue because the company that makes the steel has not taken responsibility for the faulty product. Guy states that he is unwilling to release knives for sale that are less than perfect, so all of those knives on preorder have had to wait while Guy gets to the bottom of the steel issue. It’s taking a very long time, probably because that’s the nature of things. In the meantime, he is dealing with another steel manufacturer to give comparable options from a producer which has earned his trust. I lean toward believing Guy, and I am impatiently waiting for my knives because based on all my research he does make some of the best knives possible at about half the cost of other USA made blades of comparable value.
survive knives is known for taking preorders and taking peoples money then not actually delivering the knives on time (or sometimes not delivering them AT ALL). it’s a pretty well known thing with them.
I could sharpen a butter knife with better hardness and edge retention than that knife, oh wait, I have, haha. Might as well spend money on butter knives ;)
Great vid as always from Erica, that being said I know SK pretty well. He wont hesitate to send free knives to youtubers but cant fill regular orders. Keep up the great vides Erica.
It was one of two old LE knives he had laying around. I don’t know what else to say. I don’t want to get into politics here. I just want to see how the knife as a tool performs. ❤
Your vids rock and keep up the great work. Its just that alot of people have see YT people get free knives from him and then wonder where theres are years later. Not your fault and again keep up doing what your doin@@ericasedc
yep yep. survive is welllll known in the community for that bullshit. not giving people what they paid for and i was hearing this from people over a year ago.
That's too bad that you weren't able to open up a dialogue with LT Wright about their pooh soft steel issues. True, they're a larger production knife company, but "Fill out a warranty paper" isn't exactly encouraging, considering that you're an influencer with a decent sized platform, which maybe they should've been aware of?? Well, at least you tried! That Failsafe Goods sheath for the Dart looks amazing! It's rather serendipitous that your knife design will be housed in a sheath made in NH! That Mini Caper is so adorable and SOOOO going to Nickie now, isn't it?? You wanna hear something hilarious? By far, the most negative review of the Wedge that I saw on youtube was done by none other than soft hands lil city boi Marine X himself! It was titled "Streamlight Wedge LT...Overpriced Downgrade" (!!!). And this McDonald's EDC used car salesman tard has the audacity to criticize your thumbnails?? GIRLLLL, PLEASE!!! 🤣. You weren't applying compound to just strops today tho, were you, Slater?...which leads me to...Vintage Tan AG hoodie for the win! That looks incredible on you!! And you might be the Beanie Queen, but it's also nice to see your hair every once in a while too! It looks VERY Italian and hot AF 🔥😻 Ain't no bloody wabbits gonna stop this 12k (!!!) Slater Train!!! Awesome video, Erica!!! ❤❤
I suspect that survive knives produces a product that is too high quality for their price point, as a result it’s likely his process has little room for scrap in it’s profit margins which means he needs to perfect the process before he can make money on knives which is likely the source of the delays with materials that may cause a higher scrap rate with his process normally the solution is to price the scrap in, which you can’t do with pre-orders.
Never thought you'd lower your integrity to shill for Survive! They are con artist and thieves. No way to frame it different... You promoting them only serves to get ypur viewers scammed. Not cool! You have a ton of knowledge so you cant play dumb here. Jon Heavy Set Tactical is out, Guy is done... I get to cross another "youtuber" off my watch list. Sold out to for some views and to capitalize on the drama. Got people ripped off in the process.
Oh I’m not promoting Survive. Never have, never will! I can’t. Sorry you misunderstood the video, didn’t watch the following videos, and assumed based off of your own neglect. Have a nice day!
Also I specifically said do not buy from Survive. No one bought a single thing from me saying I was going to see how this performed. If you had the volume on during the video- you would have caught that! 🥰
@@ericasedc I'm sorry you don't understand how reviews work. You got used just like all the other RU-vidrs. Guy sent out free knives so you could help him get one last con...and poof he's gone with all the viewers money. I was just reviewing...I was just follow orders... You tried to make excuses for Guy and praised the fit and finish. Guy capitalized of idiots who would see that, the price, and get "too emgood to pass up" feelings. You tried to capitalize on some drama views and I hope it backfired.
@@JustinDeLeon-sj1xr Joke’s on you- A bunch of knives are in the works from actual makers to HELP the situation. As I planned and executed. Because I do not support Guy- as I said. And NEVER reviewed his product. You’re a disgrace. And zero help to the community. We will be moving on to find solutions without you.
