The Alien doesn't look like Giger's original. The front section of the dome is the wrong shape and the neck is way off. The original Alien looked almost demonic towards the end of Alien,, this one looks more like the aliens from Alien Ressurection.
It's very hard to tell from one image as it almost looks like in this image that the alien is twisting its head slightly but I hear you though. I see more similarities than differences but who know for sure. It could also be damage that has disfigured the creature but again, this is just speculation. I still have no idea really what they have in store for us anyways, just trying to analyse as best I can :)
One thing that bugs me (heh) is the tendons on the side of the alien's jaw don't match the Big Chap's. The BC had lots of small tangled tendons, not two big transparent ones.
The teeth are somewhat smaller and slanted in this new version. Big chap had metal looking insicives also but these had a pretty much human shape. The teeth were more visible than the gums. Maybe it is the damage but it feels different. The inner jaw looks more like the one of the queen in Aliens and not as biomechanical as BC. We’ll see.
Three things. 1. Xenomorphs CAN survive in the vacuum of space. They do not "breathe" the way humans do at all. 2. The slobber is usually a mixture of water and KY Jelly. 3. I have not seen any official statement confirming the Alien seen in the images is the Big Chap. Personally, I don't understand why this is a thing, as it does NOT resemble the original Chap.
You can see their breath in Aliens in the cold environment, other than that I don't know how else they would breathe. You're right, no official statement but there is so much talk on big chap returning from multiple unofficial leaks and inside people that I find it hard to ignore at this stage. Well see what happens but if you say a xeno can survive space then that is more fuel for the fire i guess hehe. Is this comic lore?
I completely agree. I stated it multiple times. Head dome is definitely not resembling the one on big chap and if you pay attention you'll notice it has different "lips". I've seen first alien i dont know....20 or so times and i clearly cant see why people think its him. Damage can be from something else entirely. Im not saying big chap wont be in romulus, maybe he will but i also dont think they'll reveal him in first trailer or image...

@@ghostofwar5430 Of course you may be right but I also said in essence this will be some form of big chap, whether it be reverse engineering or a reviving of the same creature. It is possible it has nothing to do with him, I wouldn't know for sure but it would be interesting to see how they gained specimens to research on the station if not. It's possible they travelled to LV 426 and recovered their own eggs before the events of Aliens.
I bet you alvares is more keen in making ridley x cameron happy over actually being true to the biomechanical theme. He changed his stance from seeing ridley's retcons as "not useful' for the franchise, to keeping it in this film. Most definitely Ridley stepping in telling him not to mess with his... Mess.

Carlo Rambaldi did Alien head effects with first Alien film. He set the standard. The way I remember the saliva with Alien was to preserve the victim as well as paralyze for easy transport. The Aliens sinister side of keeping it pray alive because the increased blood flow out of fear is better quality for consumption before they were totally cocoon ed for the Alien facehugger.Basically preping US. What, "tracking device on a grappling gun"? No tracking device in a grappling was ever suggested in Alien - and why would anyone even put a tracking device on a grappling gun?... I cant help think of all the similar videos that came out in advance of Prometheus, and not one of those speculations ended up having anything to do with it.
It's just a popular theory as to how Weyland might have tracked the xeno in space, otherwise it doesn't make sense how they might have discovered it. It may also be that big chap has nothing to do with Romulus but we shall see. It's all speculation at the moment.
I feel like Alien 3 should've focused on the Weyland-Yutani corporation. There was an opportunity there to wrap the movie series as a trilogy. Alien 1 - dealing with one alien Aliens - dealing with a herde of aliens Alien 3 alternate - dealing with the source of the problem - the Company. THEY were the big trouble-makers in the first two movies. THEY wanted the Xenomorph. THEY screwed things up. So Ripley dealing with them should've been the big finale. Their own hubris could've been their downfall.
I know what you mean. Alien 3 ended with some of what you wanted and then Alien 4 showed us the results of company research but not in a good way in my opinion. I did like Alien 3 but more of a understanding of how the company developed such an interest in the specimen etc would have been better than the quick appearance they made at the end of the film with the far too short revelation of Weyland being the original form of Bishop.
Yeah, so much is unknown right now and we are surrounded by leaks haha. There are many entry points back into this franchise via some smart logical timeline plot points but even if they just go with big chap, as long as the film is well crafted then I'll be ok as there will always be more entries right?
Well for starters great video. Everytime a Alien movie comes out I'm that 8 year old boy all over again, I'm a fan of Mr Scott and Alvarez. Ive seen the trailer and I kepted thinking about alien isolation .

It does have me thinking why we are waiting so long to be honest. How the cinematography will look on a 40m budget, I dunno. Hopefully it will be ok as there are no A list actors absorbing the purse and the film is restricted to the space station. Alien was actually a low budget production so we will see.

Feels odd that they didn't follow the naming convention for Synthetics in the Alien franchise. Ash, Bishop, Call, and David. Should have had a name beginning with 'E', also would have been nice to have a second Female looking Synthetic.
My theory is that this is the big chap from alien,survived, did its thing in Romulus, survived again and molted into the queen from Alien while in hibernation

The alien can survive in hibernation in space. If you refer to the "Rage War" séries. They Rage exiles release aliens into space, in order to get them on-board the various space stations. A very impressive series. It should be a movie. Check it out if you haven't.

Alien Goo-Saliva is created using "KY-Lube' in the original Alien films. but now I;m pretty certain that they would have switched to using "J-Lube" by now. It's a powder that when mixed with water becomes a one chain molecule that prevents the internal body from absorbing the water content through the bodies inner lining to keep it really slippery so it stays viscous much longer. Its used in Veterinary work for birthing animals! "The J-Lube" is more malleable in that U can adjust the viscosity of the fluid depending on how much powder to water mix U create...just imagine the smell in the 1st Alien film when they used actual animal guts in the air guns pointed at the actors who had no idea that the jets were turned up to a high pressure and had no idea how disgusting it was going to be when they were sprayed in the face with real stinking animal guts! Poor Veronica Cartwright, "Lambert" who for the record was listed in the "Weyland-Yutani" Employee Files as a 'Trans Gendered Woman.'' had no idea she was going to be absolutely hosed down in real blood and guts. thank God special FX can fake all that without using naturally bio-hazardous materials. I remember learning that in The Thing they used a compound used to make twinkies for the spewing of fluid from the creature because it has great consistency and was safe to use, well...

We don't know. It clearly has damage to it in the photo, which doesn't mean it is big chap but why does it have so much scarring etc. It's just my theory that is all but of course it go in completely another direction.
And also Ridley's on the spot improvisation for filming scenes a certain way when the schedule went out the window. He definitely elevated the script with some great filming techniques.

From what I've heard, the face huggers only "switch" to CGI for jumping movies as they run and leap at their target's face. Alvarez revealed more about the practical effects being around the Face huggers, rather than reveal anything about the Aliens themselves. Possibly because, in Aliens, the Face huggers were all practical effects and making of Documentaries have shown how they achieved it with numerous models in sequence for running at Ripley/Newt etc. Logically, if he didnt want to give anything away, that would be the easiest thing to talk about. Historical practical effect vs current practical effect.
Very true. I'm pleased to hear the the larger xenos are also robotics and men in suits however. Probably better we don't see that yet for spoiler reasons but nice to know.
why are most in the direction that the alien is the same one from the original film ? other than that i am cautious because the 1st film was brilliant, it captured hopelessness as well as total inexperience on how to deal with a rabid rat let alone a dam scary 7ft frellin alien monster.
Hehe, yes well we could be wrong about the big chap but it boils down to leaks and rumours combined with the battles scars present on the creature etc but the only other explanation is that the company sent a private team to LV-426 to collect specimens perhaps. Maybe I should do a video on that just to provide some balance 😎
The problem with franchises is that fans love the original movie(s) for different reasons. And if we don't get that particular thing again, we get disappointed and start hating online.

@davebear9825 Yes, we can... This films plot leaked long ago. It's the xeno from the first film... they literally showed him being pulled into the ship in the trailer which matches leaks from 6 months ago.

But its not 100% to say the Xenomorph in the trailers is the Big Chap.... but yes the leaks claim this... but there have been numerous leaks with other details. I think I would have bought into Alien 3 more if the egg either fell from the dropship landing gear bay where the Queen stowed away and subsequently hatched. Or, a facehugger hitched a ride with the Queen and clambered out post Aliens. Bishop was placed into chryosleep by Ripley having been ripped in two, so I don’t believe he would be responsible. So, in the absence of any other explanation, it’s a really bad plot hole!
Oh yeah, hopefully it was obvious i was making light of it but it is of course an interesting conversation topic. I always wondered as a kid how the queen got on boars as I used to watch that pickup on VHS over and over and I could never see it. I love when films create that kind of mystery, otherwise it's boring.
Director says he's going back to basics of the original focusing on big chap. Story will be same nothing you haven't seen before meaning bunch of people running around screaming with big chap chasing them. Hopefully they can come up with some fresh new ways to fight alien. We've seen pulse rifles, grenades, flamethrowers, jettison into space, crush with land rover and crane so they need to come up with something new.
I didn't know whether to mention it. The only part of the image I doctored was removing a tiny logo at the bottom of the chest. I therefore have to assume that it is maybe turning its head to look down at the victim perhaps? It doesn't look right at all though, I agree.

I think its gonna be great. For me Covenant was a total fiasco. I have a lot of hope for Fede. Filling a gape in between Alien 1 and 2 is hard. If he took the job means hes doing it right. Lets see what happens
Yeah it's shocking how bad mainstream cinema is. Problem is that the majority will just consume and the people that push back are labelled many things for speaking simple truths. I've learnt what to steer clear off these days, which is why I am interested to see how Romulus will fair. It kinda illudes me as to whether it will fall into that trap or not.
The Alien movies already had a black character as the main antagonist/supporting actor. Isn't that woke enough? Ripley was a woman but not one of color so they must do better this time.
The remote face hugger is cool but I don’t want to see any more behind the scenes footage, suits, robotics or similar until AFTER the film is released. I don’t want to watch movie with the puppetry in mind, it will take me out of the film . It’s the ultimate spoiler imho

This movie will be nothing but cheesy fan service and tired cliches' we've all seen 100 times before. It'll be basically zoomers in space do Friday the 13th with xenomorphs. They'll make up more bs 'canon' to go with the already load of convoluted tripe the alien franchise has become and they'll go for style over substance with their dime store Ripley V 4.0. Cause you got to have the obligatory female protagonist. Its an alien movie ffs. Yep. Lets drag a nearly 50 year old classic through the sewer one more time. CAuse eVErybODY LuVS ALienS. And that alien looks nothing like Gigers design. Though the thought of having the xenomorph from the original film recovered is going from the sublime to the ridiculous and then on to the straight up retarded. It'd be like finding a needle in a haystack and that alien was incinerated in the Narcissus engines. Its funny watching them flog this rotting corpse and try to capture lightning in a bottle like they did back in '79.
I understand the passionate resentment you have for what modern audiences love to consume these days. I agree with most of what you say and it's hard to argue. All I can do is give it the benefit of the doubt and if it leaves that familiar sour taste then I'll express my disdain for it as best I can. I just assumed btw in my head that the engineers discovered that tech and reverse engineered it for themselves. At least this way I could keep the ancient giant biomechanical creatures alive in my thoughts...

I'm just a guy who saw ALIEN during its first week of release back in '79. It quickly became my favourite film and I became an avid collector of all things ALIEN. First world problems sure but it saddens me to see how they destroyed the classic that was/is ALIEN. It had so much potential. Sure Aliens is a fun ride but it ruined certain aspects of ALIEN. And the rest as far as I'm concerned is non existent garbage from ALIEN3 onward. A special crew would have been brought in,so the story ends right there ? The rest is just horror and fantasy ? Sad it saw the light of day ? They should also have stucked to the orginal title ? There are just so many flaws ? No one can belive it ? Therefore it gets worse and worser as the viewer looks ? It is like the crew stops thinking and just becomes victims ? Just like robots ? @@ADB696 Although I was born in 84, I also took to heart as a kid and forever onwards the same passion and importance of the qualities the first film gave us. They had all this time in between the original and the prequels to think up something special for the fossil found in that derelict and the origin of the xeno but did not. I can understand how much more it has affected you seeing something you love go down the toilet having been present for the first Alien film in 79. I can't imagine the experience of seeing it back in a time when we were not so accustomed to such horrors haha. I have to say I'm not convinced that this is going to work. I'm very sceptical. Why do people think this the original alien , I don't get it. It doesn't make any sense that first it survived the thrusters and second that it was found in the vastness of space. If it turns out to be the case then I'm going to be disappointed. And I also don't think it looks like the original so if it is and they think it's clever to reimagine it then I'll be disappointed a third time or is it a fourth time!
Why? The Alien 1 did not die, it was sent hurdling into space. So that makes the idea plausible and it will have revenge on it's mind. They could even have it talk about how angry it is. Explain it's motivation like Pamela Voorhees.

It’s easy to make a film that’s in between and prequels and sequels, when we all just wanted Neil bloomkamp aliens that’s it, a bunch of kids running around space screaming is not what we won’t
I think after Bloomkamp's last film got absolutely panned by critics and audiences, he must be angry he never got to make his Alien film. I also believe he would have given us a great addition to the franchise and would have better cemented him as a great film maker. He got far too much hate after District 9 imo as Alysium and Chappie I found to be great films.
well that's what the original was trapped in space with big chap but we got that in Covenant too with alien on spaceship... and even alien 4 we got alien on ship and alien 3 alien in prison colony... so they all have the same beats... there's so much lore that a TV show can better explore big chap and the alien mythology

I really think it needs a multi season TV show as they've only made 6 alien movies in 40 years which is too long for too few episodes. I'm excluding the alien vs predator movies but I can see how in the TV show they can give the engineers backstory to Prometheus and then do crossover with predators even. But it can easily run 3 to 6 seasons or more.
Just acceot this film will be shite, like every Alien film except the first two. It will be the same old plot, same old lead female lone survivor in a t-shirt (because you cant have a man as the main character), numerous plot holes and open ended ending just in case its a success. Which it wont be. Nobody cares anymore.
⚠⚠⚠⚠⚠I intuit that this film is a continuation of the pompous and pretentious lack of creativity begun with Prometheus, embarrassingly dragged forward in Covenant, and essentially is based on looking to the brilliant, genius success of Alien Isolation and just methodically ripping it off or otherwise cannibalizing it in the interests of 'success' in the mechanical manner exploitive producers/financiers think.
They may well be doing this and exploiting currently consumerism once again but part of me is hopeful and I aim to remain that way 😎. If it turns out how you say then boy am I gonna make a rant in August...

I appreciated the effort of Prometheus even though the characters were awful but I thought it had a great open potential (lol). You want to pretend that Ridley's booze soaked paws won't be all over this movie then that's fine. Go with that and blow that money. I'll wait for the reviews, as usual.
I was dismayed when I first heard that this film was populated by a group of young adults. I immediately thought it will follow the formula of countless horror films where moronic adolescents get sawn, drilled, chomped, stabbed, slashed et cetera, et cetera. That in itself has put me off. It simply highlights how amazing it was that all the aspects of 'Alien' came together to make an absolute bloody masterpiece! The acting, the casting, the script, the direction, the effects, the pacing. It's mind boggling how the same man years later when on to make that monumental pile of steaming poo, 'Prometheus'. Oh well, here's hoping for a miracle - I'm quite prepared to eat humble pie (Mmmm, tasty) if it turns out to be ok.🪐
Well spoken. I do believe that Ridley is a fantastic visionary film maker but he is only as good as the script given to him and the Alien script was incredible. You might also think that he'd be smart enough to not ignore the cringe moments from his newer installments and be allowed to make some changes. At least Cameron writes his own stuff.
