Just finished my degree and already swamped with work (an amazing problem to have!!) this was helpful, also leaned on my profs for advice about what to charge! People undervalue us so much because they think we just decorate, sometimes the clients have this misconception too lol
Yay, I hope you stay busy! That's a really good problem to have 😁😁 yeah we have to fight for our pay unfortunately. But there are people who are willing to pay the price 💯 just need to find them 😁
The quality of the materials is extremely important to is important to communicate with your were a company that I knew was very proficient at finding the best material for the optimal pric
Thanks so much for the video. I am new to your channel and this is the first video I watched. Imagine my surprise when I saw you have a whole series. Your video was very helpful and helped a lot. I did my first proposal a year ago and used some of your tips without knowing that it was right. The project feel through but it was a good learning lesson. Thanks so much!
Yayy! How fab that you've discovered the channel 👐 hope you'll enjoy the other videos as well. And yes you will learn a lot by just doing it and every time you'll get a bit better 👌
Great video - I’m just getting started with interior designing. I have a potential client that only wants certain things installed; like mirrors and blinds. I don’t feel like this designing. Any advice?
Hi Nicole, thanks for the comment! 🥰 When you're just starting out any job is an opportunity. It might not be one that you'll put in your portfolio or shout about in your socials but you'll learn certain lessons and skills that will make you a better designer/business person in general 🙂 Sounds like an easy job to me so why not 👌 Good luck! Hope it works out well!!
You only talk about Interior Designers (who have a degree), but would you also suggest this price breakdown for an Interior Decorator who has no degree?
In short, I have no degree as an Interior Designer, but I've had so many of my friends urge me to become an Interior Decorator because of the decorating work I've done in my own home and some friends homes, so I decided to open an Interior Decorator business (without a degree) and I have NO idea how much to charge for my work :(
I'd say the basics still apply. How much do you have to make to get by? That's your starting point and with every job/project make sure you raise that bar as you get more confident and experienced 👌 We all make it up as we go along and eventually get paid the money we are happy to charge. But it takes time so keep that in mind. Good luck with your business!! 😊
That's brilliant! The good thing is that you've already got that designer mindset so I'm sure you'll pick things up really quickly 🙌💯 good luck with everything!
Our house was built in the 70's and I want to gut it out and redesign the kitchen, living room and dining room. Should I hire an interior designer or architect to come up with designs to transform the space?
Hiya! From my point of view I would first consult an interior designer as I truly believe architects do not look at our homes the way that interior designers do. All respect to them as they now their shizz but designers really value the everyday relationship between your lifestyle and the visual aspect and functionality of the space 👌 Once an interior designer has created the designs they might outsource an architect themselves to give you all the technical design material needed for the reno or they might be able to introduce you to an architect who can then look at the plans. Either way I'd suggest to start with a designer 🙂 good luck!! 🙌
Haha, omg yes, that shelf was really overloaded but as we were moving out I just could not be bothered to do anything about it 😁 Glad you're enjoying the content! Let me know if there are any videos you'd like to see 👍
