Sure wish i would've seen this video before i got my latest retie.. yeah retightening and styling on the same day is torture on the scalp and a complete recipe for disaster! My scalp is so angry with me😢
Yes! You know your scalp's tolerance more than anyone. Start doing your reties yourself. It consumes more time but saves a ton of $! Let me know if you have any other questions. 🤍
Why should you not switch between interlocking and retwisting? I was watching another video of someone saying that it could be a good idea if you want your locs to still be slim without risking them thinning
I think interlocking, in general, already gives your locs a slimmer appearance. The great thing about interlocking is you can go longer in between maintenance which lowers the probability of your locs thinning. Retwisting, to keep the “appearance” you’d have to do more often (once a month) but will give your loc an entire different look than interlocking. I wouldn’t recommend mixing the two because they create two entirely different looks and the frequency at which you do them is also entirely different. When I was new on my loc journey I tried retwisting once after months and months of interlocking and my hair was significantly thinner from that day forward. I’d love to watch the video you’re referring too !! Thanks for sharing this!
Hi @Nubia Here, Could you please explain about how to not create gaps? Im strongly considering diy interlocking my hair. What im understanding it as is: if you start at "3 oclock" on todays interlocking, then 5 weeks from now, start at "6 oclock"? Is that correct?
So boom. You don’t have to start at different places each week. What I do every interlocking session is start from 12 o clock, then 3 o clock, the 6 o clock, then 9 o clock (if need be). The four point rotation helps to avoid gaps. Don’t just put it through the same loop or only two different loops. Try to do it in the shape of a cross. I hope this helps 🤍
