Explaining the function, showing the steps, and showing where on the drawing everything was took place helped me to understand what you were talking about. It made it easier to follow along.
This video was helpful, since i am still reading the urinary tract chapter. It really makes a difference when you see an explanation from the Professor, instead of just reading yourself. Thank you.
I like how you create the mechanical pathways for all the body systems that we talk about. These videos are helpful for me to become familiar with the different structures present in a body system.
the pre-drawn kidney really helped me see and understand the locations that were being talked about in the kidney, and it was easy to follow along with the pathway of urine
This video helped me understand the pathway of urine through the nephron and out the ureter. Your pictures have definitely gotten better and more complex throughout the semester!
The diagram really helped simplify it. I liked how you went step by step with the breakdown of the structure. The breakdown of the ducts was good information too
I really struggle with retaining information after reading it. These videos are so helpful because they go through each structure individually and keep me engaged! I loved the visuals in this video!
I like how to only wrote down the main structures of the kidney, elaborated on the concept, and also referred back to the diagram to help us visual what you are explaining.
I'm not familiar with much internal anatomy so this video really helped give an insight about what goes on with the kidney. I liked how everything was laid out and I could understand better with the visuals.
I find it extremely helpful when you discuss the anatomy of certain systems by including flow charts. For instance, in this video of the renal anatomy you mapped out the flow of filtrate once it had entered the collecting duct and described the steps it takes until it finally hits the Renal pelvis which is where it then leaves through the ureters to the bladder.
I feel like the book was confusing for the urinary system so I'm glad you made a basic video explaining the anatomy of the kidney. The little flow chart you made from the collecting duct to the renal pelvis was also helpful.
I appreciate the different colors you use on your drawing of the kidney, it helped me learn the there is a difference between the minor and major calyxes. MEDA Tara Atigh Summer 2020
I liked how you illustrated a simple diagram of the kidney. Sometimes I get overwhelmed when I look at diagrams with too many labels. Also, I liked how you explained the function of each structure within the kidney.
The visual made it much more easy to understand. It is interesting how the pathways are for all of the systems. It was good that you showed the kidney structure but also explained mainly functions of it. Mallory Gladden (Bio327 Student)
Good explanations, they helped me to understand the functions. I also liked how you included and explained the pathway. Although it would be more helpful if you could label the diagram.
before watching this video I did not realize where the nephron was located in the kidney. and the flow chart of how the urine is moving through the kidney was very helpful to see how it enters and exits the kidney.
The lesson with the diagram are great. Its easy to follow your lecture as you color coat and point to/describe each part of the renal anatomy here. Without the diagram it would be hard to know which structure you are referring to, thanks!
I remember most of this information from anatomy, but it is good to have a refresher course. I always thought the kidneys were so interesting because they are largely responsible for filtering of waste from the body.
It’s interesting to see how one of the major organs of your body has so many intricate inner workings. Once again showing how amazing the human body is and how one small thing that goes wrong can mess up a bunch of other things.
I liked how you gave a brief introduction before getting into explaining the visual since it gave the video context & made it easier to follow along and understand.
I liked that the entire kidney was drawn out, I know many of us were struggling with topic, so I don't think a super simplified diagram would have been as helpful
I enjoy the illustrations that are included in the videos, and that there isn't a ton of different things going on. I am able to focus more on what you are saying, instead of the screen constantly changing. Also that you write notes (that are color coded) and that they stay there. It's helpful that the videos are also around 5 minutes so I can watch more than once if necessary....it's usually necessary.
I wish I would have viewed this video while studying the chapter, it would have helped me understand it better at the time. This was an amazing review for my final.
I like how you not only went through the pathway of urine but also the anatomy of where parts of the kidney are located. The drawing colors weren't the best, it was a little difficult to see the different structures that you were pointing out, but other than that it's a great video.
I think that if labels were done on the kidney diagram or you demonstrated where a bit more vividly then it would have helped to understand it a bit more visually rather than only by words.
I think it would have been more beneficial to label the key players onto the kidney diagram in addition to your descriptions. The descriptions were good and straightforward but would have been better if supplanted with additional labeling and maybe one or more figures.
It would be helpful to have a second drawing of just the collecting duct through the renal pelvis in very different colors. The current drawing has just green and yellow which makes it difficult to see the different parts.

MEDA115 Spring 2021: Kidneys are a very sensitive subject for me, i sadly lost a kidney, i never was told specifics about what happened to my kidney, when i asked for explanations the doctors would just say "it stopped working properly" Doctors mentioned the fact that i used to do a lot of liquid diets, protein shakes replacing meals, that factored in the "passing" of my kidney, now i am very aware of my diet and try to stick to low protein.
i think it would be better if you could possibly draw and color all the structures you said. It will be a better visual representation and will show us how its all connected.
This was helpful. It would be nice if you labeled each part on your drawing (renal pyramid, minor calyx, major calyx, renal cortex, etc), but helpful video nonetheless.
Could you please tell me what would be described as the innermost layer of the kidney, if renal pelvis is not an option/ could major calyx be an acceptable answer? Thank you .
