I bought some 5 ton wheels and tires to go on the truck. What do you think? Torque Multiplier I used: amzn.to/3KxVrI5

Another update on my farm truck tow rig. The upgrade gave me 10+ MPH top speed and should give me better gas mileage on the highway.

That looks great! I’m looking to get into one of the 4700 crew cabs myself. Would you mind sharing how much those wheels and tires cost? @SeidelRanch
@SeidelRanch 2 года назад
I got these wheels and tires off craigslist for about $1000. They were used and came off a 5 ton truck. New ones will cost you a lot more. So far they have held up well but I have not put a lot of miles on it. I don't know about the retread. I will probably just look for some military surplus instead of doing retreads, but I am hoping they do not wear out too fast. If they wear out really quick I will probably go with a longer life tire next.

I don't know the exact machine they were on, I just was told they are for a 5 ton military truck. The truck use to get stuck in wet grass in my pasture. Now, it does not even spin a tire. i'm looking to do this on mine too. 99 crewcab dt466e/allison 545, same bed length. if anyone else is out there like me and they have the 19.5" wheels swap them out asap. they're hard to find on the used market (at least near me) if you ever need a spare. 22.5 and 24.5 are everywhere though if you've got those and haven't gotten around to the swap yet. so where did your rpms end up at 60/65 mph? did your mileage improve and if it did what do you estimate the savings were? are you getting a better ride from the larger super singles or is it still a violent slamming machine like mine is? i have air ride seats and can still find potholes that will launch me into the roof.
@SeidelRanch
@SeidelRanch 7 месяцев назад
Nice, you have a dt466e. If this 444 dies I am going to put one of those in it. I have not gotten to drive it much but the RPMs dropped nicely with the new tires. I could not even hit 70mph before them. Now I can probably hit 80 if I tired. The tires though are 55 mph max speed rated, so I keep it around that. The ride is better but still not great. These springs are going to rattle my eyes out. I want to put bags on it but it may be better to just fine a different truck already setup the way I want. I have heard people like the 24.5s.
