I love how you document things around your city. Things are constantly changing, it is fun to remember how they once were. I wish I would have documented some places in my city.
Adam the small town vlogs were absolutely perfect, I feel like when you do these vlogs it’s just perfect and the vibes are so cool. Keep up the great work adam
RIP Mystery Funhouse… wow, all those places on I-4 That were the refuge for doing a Disney trip on a tight budget. The 80s vibe is strong with this one. Adam keep up the great work! Love these mini documentaries.
My company had a training facility in Altamonte Springs, and I spent a lot of time on International Drive, and have many fond memories of good times there. That area really had an international vibe , with restaurants serving great food from all around the world. It has changed so much that I find it scarcely recognizable now.
Can't stop progress..It will be interesting to look back on these videos 10 years from now and see what has survived, evolved, or been erased from existence!
Hi adam! The building at 23:45 used to be a golf store named "Edwin Watts Golf" I used to go there all the time to buy golf equipment when I was playing college golf. Good people used to work there as well. They changed my golf club grips for free because they wanted to help me out. So sad to see it shut down permanently, good memories.
@thedailywoo It was so very wonderful to chat with you, Adam, at Dapper Days Saturday. I keep thinking how grateful I am for how kind you were to me and my daughter. Thank you for sharing our channel too. You are truly a great person! - Heather
I Drive used to be the happening place in the 80's and 90's. I was in Florida last year and drove through I Drive and boy has is gone downhill fast in the last 20 years. When Disney wants their competition gone, they deliver.
Hey Adam. I've smashed through so many of your videos lately - you bring me so much comfort with these videos, it's hard to explain. I love the west coast editions, so cool. Random side-note; Celebration Downtown Diner is where I found my favourite breakfast ever. I would weigh a ton if I lived near you!
I’m having a flashback to the 90s with our baseball player host from the 80s lol. Great stuff, Adam do you remember Mercado’s Arcade? I think that was the name… Those one of kind and ahead of their time Universal Studios billboards, up and down International Drive… Amazing.
@@TheDailyWoo oh yes… I’m not sure if I asked you about that place in the past lol.. My best friend moved to Orlando after the 4th grade.. His father got an offer he couldn’t refuse to manage a hotel on I Drive.. So I got a bit of a local education as well.
Adam love the video. Just wanted to say that you’re looking thinner for sure. Off to good start. Keep it up . I went to the doctor this morning and had some blood work done and the results are very positive. I’m out of the bad range for Diabetes and A1C is in normal range. Started out at 270 and now weigh 155. You can do it. Keep up the good work.
I really enjoy your videos visiting all the less traveled and small communities, loved the visit to Iowa and Illinois and Wisconsin to The House on the Rock,I have been there
Another fun, local adventure. I’m from a small town in Alabama and although o love seeing how it’s grown & progressing each time I go back & visit but miss some of the old places that’s been torn down.
Thank you for these videos. Even though I grew up in Miami, Homestead we took many trips to Disney. My parents always tried to budget for us kids to have a vacation and sacrificed much for us in the 70’s. Memory lane is a fine road you share. Thank you
Morning Adam 🌞 i like these back roads u do what has happened in the video 📸 the gift shop in pink and yellow lol that's Florida for ya. The building are bright colors lol. Thanks for sharing this. Stay awesome 😎
Great video I really enjoyed watching from Northern Ireland! Our last trip was January 2024. It’s been 5 years from our trip before that and IDrive has really changed, it seems very run down, which is sad. Magical midway has been there from as long as I can remember, it’s sad to see it all closed. I felt like I didn’t recognise IDrive this recent visit.
I've never really commented on your videos but thanks for bringing back so much nostalgia as I've often visited my family out in Orlando. It's been a bit tough to travel for awhile but hopefully someday I'll return again. By the way hope you kept those slacks from the Dapper Day video as they're pretty stylish. I also have a plaid pair in Linen/Cotton that I actually wear on a normal basis when it's hot which out here is the majority of the year but anyways looking forward to seeing what event you'll attend next.
@@TheDailyWoo Thanks Adam. Hope you come back out to AZ sometime. There are some destinations I haven't even done yet out here so it's nice to see others perspectives.
O'Shucks was my home away from home when I lived in Orlando. Fun please, great bartenders. Karaoke 7 nights a week, pool, video games. Nice mix of locals and tourists.
I’ve noticed establishments/amusement establishments tend to struggle on international Drive north of Sand Lake Road? But south of Sandlake Road starting with Ripleys believe it or not Or icon Park etc. tends to thrive.
I remember the water slide at the go cart track. When I was a kid, I’d go there all the time. That and the ice skating rink and bowling alley. Had my Bachelor Party at the Bowling Alley!
My family had a timeshare at Orange Lake Country Club and this area was absolutely magical to my sister and I. It's sad how times have changed but I am so happy I got to enjoy it all as a kid.
Roboland was sport dominator when I would travel to orlando as a kid. Used to love going in there. Loved going to it when it was the Whirlydome for work events.
I commented on this site before. Myself and my dad played miniature golf at that location. We were staying at that motel you showed right next door to it. This was going way back in 2009 I believe? I remember the Volcano going off. It’s sad to see it gone. I have great memories there. P.S. I can’t believe that Perkin’s is still there, me and my dad went there as well. And of course that huge McDonalds up a couple of blocks. Thank you Adam, this has brought back great memories.
I worked at the convention center from 2007 to 2017. I seen progress on l Drive south of Sand Lake through the years! The city limits of Orlando starts at Sand Lake to Mallenia Street!😮
I'm from the uk and haven't been to Orlando since 2008. we stayed at the rosen Inn International right next to the Dennys. It's interesting to see how much has changed since I was last there. Fun spot america was still open then with the gokarting etc and that black and white building what's now arcade monsters was a ponderosa, we used to walk there from our hotel in a morning for breakfast. interesting to see how much work at 1 side of idrive has been done at the point orlando end, and yet still alot to do at the other end
I first came over from England to Disney in 93 staying on I Drive coming back every two years it certainly seems to have changed a lot, I still remember the old mercado shopping centre
The sling shot had been in operation up until what seems to be April 2024. I live nearby and would see it lit and in operation. Also by the looks of it, they have replaced the “Welcome to Orlando” sign as of recent. A couple of month ago a had taken a picture of it with letters that were barely visible due to all the stickers covering it! Thanks for the video! I enjoyed learning about International’s past! I will add to my original comment to say that the sling shot is no longer up as of April 29th.
Love this classic Adam the Woo type video! So fun tagging along with Adam as tour guide. Looks like the ‘stache might be “sticking”-like a new trademark for our beloved RU-vidr?! Both sad yet interesting seeing all these vacated places which were probably teeming with life and vibrant activity years ago! Such a crazy world we live in today with all the retail/commercial blight. Amazon…Covid…Internet…Artificial intelligence…all take their toll! Where’s the “humanity”?! I hope we still have it somewhere somehow…I hope Adam keeps in touch with us here for a long time to come…or forever…I know I’ll be watching and enjoying!
1:17 7-Eleven also has really good coffee cups 🥤 as well as coffee, those cups insulated by a second layer & don't use a sleeve....they require way less paper than regular sleeved paper coffee cups...& stays pipping hot way longer too
I’ve only ever been to Florida on a Disney world holiday back in 2001 (UK resident) and I swear we only ate at the Denny’s, Perkins & IHOP on I drive the whole two weeks 😂 so this bought back fond memories 😂
Those cool looking buildings seem to get replace with modern less whimsical looking buildings :-/ I guess it's too expensive to do those neat store front faces? Cool video. 🎉
Something called Cool Zoo Wildlife Center was supposed to take over part of that building with the Lighthouse but I'm not sure if that's still happening or not because originally they planned to open back in September or October. That was formally a gift shop as you mentioned but also one of those tourist information/discount ticket places and shut down during Covid. Shame to see Magical Midway close down which has been there for many, many years. I hope they really reopen in the Summer. North end of IDrive has been making some progress but still has more work to do. 22:00 You're correct, they repainted that building about a year or 2 ago.
Sad about George's Music. It was always kind of cool to have a local kind of music store right there. Coming up I4 and turning into Universal's exit, the bac of that store was always kind iconic. The guitar necks on the backside of the building.
Cool videos Adam. I wish I had your memories of the opened business. I was down a few weeks ago and did a video on Hogans Beach shop. I was very confused by the 2 names asking my self which one is it. Hogans Beach Shop or Hogans Wrestling shop?
The building that Orland Circus School is in at 18:48 was once Sci-Fi World. The building to your right at 18:59 was once Shooting Sports of Orlando. Yes, a tourist attraction gun range right off I-Drive.
As an Orlando fan in the UK, I love these videos. Although I’m sad that they’re removing things that make I Drive so cool, like the sports player statue and the cool shops going slowly. Hope they don’t move the alien!!!!
As a Mother of 4 kids ages 17 - 38 I would totally wear that shirt. Especially when i am with them. If there is a Dad version I would totally get it for my Dad. 😂😂
Thats one place i avoid here in florida or traveling, is souvenir shops .they all see to carry the same dust collector trinkets, the only differences prices very. Sad all these fun attractions have closed. I have beem and played at that gator golf.
i walked from the convention center all the way up to the outlet mall back in october and vlogged it , wish id done it on a scooter its a killer of a walk .
I was thinking you had a Red Bull or Monster Energy drink today! Lol! Guess it was just that caffenated beverage. But man! This was high energy and so funny!! 😂😅
4:36 KEST GAK is basically a NYC thing, especially with the Best Buy logo ,even the Best Buy Geek Sqad trucks in my area got official sized Kest Gak stickers ontop of the official Best Buy tag logos ......the workers just leave them on their trucks too 😂
