Why did the cameramen of the late 60s and early 70s think filming historical concerts while having a seizure was a good thing? I wish they had a normal shot of the shows.

@@brianfresonke7899 It’s more the fault of the director and editor than the cameramen, they just do as they’re told mostly. Trying too hard to be artistic and well, some things don’t age well! Cream’s farewell gig at the Albert Hall drives me mad with its direction!

I definitely see what you mean…it gets downright annoying quickly (even as it’s cool to have SOME of those close shots) but I’m putting it more on the editing. There had to be at least four camera operators, what with the different simultaneous shots (including the far-too-few-used full band shots!) Some GrEaT music, though!! ✌🏼

It’s not the camera operators - their footage is pretty solid - it’s the editing - as was a trend at that time to try and edit the footage on the fly trying to relate it some way to the rhythm of the music - it’s truly awful !!! And makes lots of the film unwatchable unless you want to get a headache. Having said that , it’s great to have this stuff available….

Maybe the camera spotted Richie, but the director had other plans…

@@landesartor maybe Ritchie shot the director or camera man a nasty look. Yeah, strange, isn’t it? Anyway, some great soloing. I love that clean sound on the second solo.

I had that same drum kit as the guy in the first band - a 4-piece Ludwig in black diamond pearl. I miss that kit. Some crackhead broke into my storage unit and stole it. 🤬

Shortly hereafter Frank Zappa pinched Aynsley Dunbar ( made him an offer he couldn"t refuse) to go join him for the Hot Rats band...

Great band producing some good old blues from the south Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Georgia, USA! The black blues came from here. There was a different sound. Everybody in the south. United States was different than anybody else in the world. It was a different time. The Civil War was over and still a lot of hard feelings left over, and the music kinda help heal the wounds. Now we have done a 360° turn no appreciation from the blacks they are running wild in the streets. Unappreciative still full of hate is sad.

That is the WORST camera work I’ve EVER seen. After 5-10 mins I couldn’t take it anymore! Period

I think the guitar was not as prominent at the festival is the beginnings of "prog-rock" had started that time. Bands like Deep Purple use of electric organ, The Moody Blues were big on organ & Mellott on. Keith Emerson can be heard here with his progressive keyboard sounds he will use in the formation of ELP. Pink Floyd were only a year preceding Thier masterpiece (ie) The Dark Side of the Moon. Yes, Genesis, King Crimson and so many other bands were breaking big with keyboards. Maybe that's why the camera man/woman focused so much on the keyboard players in the Video!

Lots of meandaring long loose jams ultimately going nowhere and all sounding pretty similar with really bad editing on the camera work! But then nobody probably noticed at the time

I'm not sure they thought that style of film editing added anything to the music. It's almost unwatchable. Too bad, because there's some great performances.

It's great to be able to see some of this footage but I really hate that style of cinematography that was predominant in the day of constantly cutting and splicing one image to another. I'd like to be able to watch the musicians play. Also don't need the focus on the drummer when the guitarist is soloing i.e. Taste and Deep Purple etc.

Thanks for great piece of rock history. Too bad the typical cameraman back in the day was as stoned as everyone in the audience.
