We use the thermostat almost exclusively manually. Not sure when we lost connectivity, but when I tried to use the APP it noted not connected. The thermostat has been "buggy" in this regard since we got it. At least one visit from the Bryant Dealer a couple of years ago got it going, but again, dead in the water. It seems ridiculous on its face to have to purchase a special router to use the thermostat. I'll try the dealer again, and if no luck we will only use manually. I may also check with the dealer about alternative thermostat options.

I've been dealing with Connex connectivity issues for years and gave up. Seeing your video got me interested in trying again. Long story short, I did one thing today that actually seems to have solved my problem (I'm using the older series A) I went into the advanced wireless settings on the Bryant thermostat and in IP Settings I noticed it was on STATIC IP. I switched to DHCP and unbelievably my connectivity is working. Just checked the app on my phone and it works great. Hope this helps someone else despite not being the main point of this video.

I was hoping this would work for me. Nope. :( It is on DHCP. :(

Didn't acknowledge the chronic Evolution Data Server "not connected". This occurs frequently concurrently with firmware rollouts.

We have certainly had a few OTA updates that created connectivity issues with the server over the years. Since version 4.05 release that appears to be corrected. We find a lot more issues with internet routers from providers. It seems they continuity keep making changes to protect their service…and the factory keeps trying to update software to work with it. It can be frustrating for a technician, which is why we often recommend a separate N-band router when there are continuous connectivity problems.

So should I just ignore it when it comes up? I just started having this issue right after an update on thermostat.

I never had connectivity issues until this last update about a week ago. So confusing. I have a WiFi connection so I can operate it but do I need to be connected to my evolution??

Not buying another router when a $500+ thermostat should have no issue connecting to my ATT fiber/modem router combo. It worked when it was first installed and as software updates came out, gradually got worse and worse. Now it wont' stay connected to my WiFI even though nothing has changed and it hasn't connected to bryant servers in months even though at some points it would connect to my wifi.

Almost always the router and or provider is the culprit with connectivity issues. That’s why a dedicated N router for data works. It’s not controlled by a provider. The provider usually changes, not the Ui (thermostat). Providers are constantly altering firewalls and gateway paths. The manufacturer is constantly trying to build software to keep up with it. For every provider in the country, in multiple countries. The latest software V 4.05 which we have been running for months works very well with all providers. Be sure you are running at least that. Check your software version. Menu > service > model and serial > wall control Look for 4.05. If you can’t get on to do a software update it can be done with a SD card or use your hotspot on the phone. When I see issues with a router or server, I try and link the UI to my hot spot on the phone. If it links and works, app connects…the issue is the router. Good luck.

@@TheMattYouCantWalkOn I think it is definitely a Comcast/Xfinity wifi compatibility issue. My thermostat will not connect to my Xfinity wifi either. I have not tried the @Habegger help independent router yet.

@@frankhouston3239 I had an old router lane around and hooked it up as its own separate access point not broadcasting the SSID. It immediately connected to my Wi-Fi and the Bryant servers and I've had no problems except that the app on my phone doesn't clear the cache every time you close it so the temperature and thermostat mode is always wrong

The problem is definitely something on Bryant’s end. The fact that these furnaces use a proprietary connection and other thermostats aren’t compatible with the evolution system you would think Bryant would insure the features are working as intended. Definitely pissed off this crappy $500 thermostat can’t maintain a consistent internet connection

Lol this is NOT "the answer". And yes I was tortured into trying it by Bryant/Carrier. (as absurd as the idea was) you should take this down. There is an issue with their thermostats and or "evolution data server".

We’ve had connectivity problems for years now with our Bryant Homewise T6 WEM thermostat. Most of the time unable to control system remotely due to no internet connection. Using the Comcast gateway. Do you think the TP link router you recommend in your video would solve this issue? When my wife arrived at our second home where the t-stat is located recently, the display was dark and came back on after she removed and replaced the faceplate. Does this imply the the t-stat hadn’t been controlling temperature until it came back on? Thank You!

Remote connection won’t affect thermostat operation. Blank screen is loss of power. Maybe was a loose connection in the sub-base? Or limit trip of the furnace. I have never tried a TP Link with a T6. However, the link routers are N band. Better for simple data. Most home routers are A band, and you can get internet congestion easily. Four to five devices per band on a dual band router can get you in trouble. N band router will clean up connectivity for remote ability.

Haven't had any connectivity to be thermostat since it last did a Firmware update. Anyway, had tried my AC installer and Bryant and neither one was able to give me a decent answer. I was sent this link by a friend who works at Carrier. It costs about $20 on Amazon, connected in minutes and so far is working correctly. Good luck

never daizy chain routers in a home setting. You will cause nothing but problems down the line.
