Internet Explorer is a memorable web browser. When it first came out in 1995, it was like any other web browser like Opera and Netscape Navigator in the sense that it was software that you had to buy. Though Internet Explorer also came bundled with Microsoft Plus. Because you had to pay for the other web browsers, Microsoft decided to bundle Internet Explorer with Windows 98 and later versions of Windows so that users could have a free web browser after buying their Windows copy or a new computer preinstalled with Windows. This was how Internet Explorer dominated the web browser market share, though it was controversial to the point where Microsoft got sued into the case United States v. Microsoft Corp. But regardless, Internet Explorer was the industry standard and the most used web browser. In the mid 2000s, Microsoft would only release their next IE version after 5 years after IE 6 and by this point, IE 6 became vulnerable to viruses and other malware, and Mozilla Firefox started to compete with IE. In late 2008, Google Chrome joined the browser wars and in the 2010s, Internet Explorer became the web browser used only to download other web browsers (well, for the most part), and soon, Google Chrome started to dominate the browser market share. Internet Explorer was discontinued in 2015 in favor of Microsoft Edge, but was supported until recently.
This got me to learn how to use the Internet as a kid and play online games during the windows xp days, good old times. It would be better than edge, chrome and firefox but rip, it was a pleasure knowing it. Without it, how would I explore the internet and enjoy the experience ?

You should add IE9. Yeah it didn't featured with any Windows but it was a massive update back in day. It changed the whole GUI of IE series, starts the HTML5 era on Web technologies and it still has aero design, not metro style that featured with IE10, it looks more compilatable with Windows 7.
This is a funny/sad heartbreaker for me as this was the only web browser I knew of in elementary school around 2007 and 2008. When RU-vid was in its prime and glory days. Always watching MLG Halo 2 & 3 montages on this slow garbage brings back the best of memories. But let me tell you, using Windows XP as that was the only thing my household had when I was an only child, combine this OS and XP together meant some of the most infuriating years of using IE. Constant crashing, a lot of reboots, but damn did I have good moments too.

Internet Explorer 7 was the first version I've used when I used a computer for the first time at age 4. My parents had Windows Vista and the school computers had windows xp.
uhhh, that bad browser in these days was the best I personally love it with its interface and the icon when i was using 7 it was so awesome, i was loving it more than google

Internet Explorer 1-5 was mainly monochrome, Internet Explorer 7 brought tabbed browsing, Internet explorer 9 featured a redesign, and internet explorer 11 was the final version.
my mom and me used internet explorer as kids, AND WE WERE OBSESSED WITH IT! this amazing browser has so many memories and special updates and moments. I loved its updates throughout the years! It was so fun and cool to use and it was my everything because i was obsessed with the internet as a kid lol. When i found out it was ending, ngl i was actually crying a little because i did not want it to end but now that microsoft edge is out, this is what were with rn. i hope internet explorer returns and will continue to be in use forever. I remember back then, when IE was super laggy and keeps crashing. My childhood of opening the IE and then the "IE is not responding" text appears such good old times.

The first few versions have a certain cosiness about them. 7 and 8 definitely go for the glass look. You can see how the design language of the operating system generally influences the browser also.
RIP IE,people didn't needed to hate it, even tho they only used it for downloading Chrome and other browsers, it will still be in my memories.... In memorial, Internet explorer...
I never understood why Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer weren't merged. I sensed that they were heading in that direction around 2000, but then they moved away from that - and then Chrome and Firefox took all of IE's market share.
my fav version 6, though people thought it just only useful for download Chrome. But when Chrome doesn't exist, ie is the best web browser. Thanks for your appearance to let us to the Internet, hello and goodbye 👋

When I read that windows 11 no longer has IE I wondered if i can get IE on Win11 without any other browsers or modifiied Windows, I got iE working in Win11!! I have an Video about it but it's in german.. BUT I GOT IE IN WINDOWS 11!!!!! I thougt it was removed, and i searched it in the search menu but it didn't show up.. But i got it working at least?? 🙂(nice vid btw.)
Because Edge was their flagship browser since Windows 10 launched. Why would they use Windows 10 as the basis for Internet Exploerer support when Windows 10 never really promoted IE to begin with?
Even though Internet explorer was slow and many people switched to Google Chrome /Firefox this browser shall not be forgotten bc i used it as a kid to play coolmathgames in the computer lab.
That would be nice. Modern Edge is now just Chrome with a Microsoft skin, but older Edge was somewhat more unique, though I can understand why they gave up and switched.
