Thank you so much for all the advice ! I am starting my program this May and I have already started reaching out to potential sites on my own and have made some great connections! I actually have a lunch meeting set up this week with a private practice that I really want to work with when the time comes. Fingers crossed!’

Hello! For your resume did you add anything related to your field? Or would it be a regular resume without anything related to mental health? Thank you

Hello friend I did my regular resume. I did add all the undergraduate classes that related to psychology and counseling in my introduction as my “experience.” I did take CAP classes that down here in FL if you complete a certain amount of hours you can become a certified substance abuse counselor, add anything that shows that your a good employee or student.

Do interns get paid? How does that work? Esp when Client has Insurance ?

You will rarely find a place that will pay interns that are still in school (also my school doesn’t allow students to get paid.) In my opinion and from my experience I don’t think we should be paid, I’m there to learn and I’m pretty much paying to be there with my tuition. Some will disagree with me but each day I’m there I think about how grateful I am for the site and supervision I get.
