I can say with certainty as someone actively trying to learn duck behavior and absorb it. This video showed me nearly nothing i could've remembered or needed.
This was great information, but it would be even more helpful to see clips of ducks exhibiting the behaviors you describe. I'm having trouble distinguishing between happy headbobbing, and the irritated side bobbing with my pekins. A couple keep biting the others after loud unison quacking and head bobbing. Do you have any advice?
Thank you. I have just had ducks come to my back yard. Now they have brought their children. They have 5 ducklings. They are a week old now. I've had many animals. I grew around animals but not ducks. Helpful thanks. Amanda Australia
Because you're lucky 😊. In my case, once the ducklings were old enough to go outside, they just wanted to be in the pool all the time. It was pretty much the duck version of them saying, "mom, I'm not a baby anymore. Let me grow up." Sigh...😔
I hand raised our ducks and goose. The goose let's me touch her the others run when they see me. I am the bad guy when they are sick or hurt. They will rest by me, listen, and go to bed when told. They know their names and respond when called with little noise to me. Again, though, I can't hold them or touch them. It is a bit sad, but I know they love me.
Well, I did feed some wild ducks today, twice and one of them before I did my recording, started to follow me for some reason, yet I don't know why, when I had no more food for them, so does this mean that this sort of bird was starting to gain it's trust on me?
The duck may not have been wild. Unfortunately, some people abandon their pet ducks at parks, lakes, etc. when they no longer want them. This is a problem because domesticated ducks are unable to survive on their own in the wild. Very sad 😔
I can relate... one of my ducks dug around the roots of and destroyed one of my beautiful palm trees 😔. I ended up having to set up fences around my flowers/garden areas to keep the ducks sneaky little orange feet out 😊
