Great stuff, Carl, as always! Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I too was struck by the Linux shirt. Do you think of your channel as being open source magic?
@@thecommonmagician Fantastic! Given that you're sporting the t-shirt I assume it's going well. I'm also a Linux user, but not Ubuntu. (I'm trying to avoid falling into the memes, so I'm being cagey and avoiding naming my distro of choice.)
@@yramagicman675 Ubuntu Studio has optimized real-time kernel and Pipewire integration out of the box for AV use. I've been using Linux Ubuntu variants for about 20 years with great success. Can't find any task that I can't do as well or better than on a proprietary platform.
@@thecommonmagician 20 years is impressive! Linux 20 years ago was vastly different than it is now, especially with regard to hardware (Wi-Fi) support. Pipewire is the bees-knees, even for casual audiophile. I'm a web developer professionally, so Linux know-how is very useful. Using it personally is both a pain and a joy, depending on the day, or the problem. I appreciate the control I have over my OS, especially compared to Windows.
