A hint I remember is to make crosswalks first. Then the lines will use that as a from/to point. You can also use this tool for straight sections. Like continuing those white inside striped sections, or to make turning lane stripes solid before the intersection.
Thanks for this. I had a basic knowledge of this mod but the rules, templates, presets, and copy/paste helped me to get advanced knowledge...now Onto my city!
one thing you didn't mention is that in the color pallet window, you can not only choose color, but transparency, to the right of that, which can help blend colors into your pavements, or allow pavement textures to show through the colors you choose, which might be nice if you have cobbled streets, for instance.
Really great tutorial, thanks Egg! I watched and paused while trying out the techniques and you explain everything in such a way that it is easy to try this out and get some cool intersections going in just a few minutes. The rules thing had me foxed for a while, but your video cleared it all up nicely, thanks!
Thank you for doing this, I have tried so many times to sort my intersections but get frustrated and leave them blank. With your explanation and seeing how you do it, I am definitely going to try again. Might need to rewatch a few thousand times to get them right but really appreciate your tutorial ❤️
Well done Egg!! Super easy to understand. Excellent relaxed pace for those wanting to learn for the first time or brush up their skills! You covered most of the menus, options, rules, etc thoroughly! The best IMT tutorial I have seen to date! Well done!
Nicely done. I've never understood why a mod maker who makes mods like this doesn't go through how to actually use the mod. A lot of people won't use a mod if it looks hard to use. Showing people how it works makes it simple and people are more likely to use the mod. Again, very well done. Why you don't have more subscribers is belong me. You're every bit as good (and better actually) than Biffa who has 500K+. Now this doesn't make Biffa bad in anyway. He's a fun watch as well. But you sir are very good.
Great tutorial Egg! As someone who never used mods like this in cities I understand what you were doing during Ilos videos now. IMT really brings some life and uniqueness to intersections. Also 25:03 I just love the anarchist cims. xD 28:03 lol, Egg. Edit: I love that outro song.
YES.. a video just for me, I am one of those dummies :D Looks nice, cant wait to see it, haven't dugged deep into the tool, so I am sure I will get some new knowledge.
I am sure you can sir@@OVERCHARGEDEGG The thing with marking tool that always has been my problem is the filler and line aspect of it. Havent been playing Cities for a while, waiting for the new DLC to start a new city up also, so my crawings are being filled with YT videos. But I really should unlock those unique buildings I am missing having unlocked I guess
Solid tutorial egg 👍 use this a lot and it appears I’ve overlooked a few things lol. Hope to see a few more of these video, find out what else I’ve been missing out on 😆
31:26 Egg, you might want to redraw that part of the round-a-bout. Your right most lane entering the round-a-bout is painted into the parking lane. Even though parking isn't allowed, the parking lane still exists. (Need to be mindful of that at every intersection) The middle lane is painted into the right lane, and the inside lane is painted into the middle lane of the round-a-bout. Your markings are all off by one lane. Looks like the same thing is done on the other side of the r-a-b as well. Obviously, the vehicles are going to ignore the paint and drive to the appropriate lane anyway, so that may lead to comments that as you said you know we're all going to leave in the comments section about cars driving across your markings. ;Þ Made me laugh, guilty as charged. I believe you've done this in other round-a-bouts as well since it was a paste in template if I'm remembering the previous videos correctly. Also, just something I like to do when I have a bus, bike, or a tram lane running through an intersection, in 'nicer' parts of town, I'll use the filler in intersection marking tool to paint that lane through the intersection. It can add to the overall decorative look by not breaking the lane at the intersection, just an idea to consider in the future should you get to a point where it feels like a good fit. Have a good rest of your day.
There's a few fixes I need to make around the city at this point! Thank you for that heads up, appreciate it! I'll definitely add the lane fixes for the networks you mentioned :)
Coincidentally, that line is in the right place for a Give Way line, so he could re-style it as a double dash line and add the lane line at the same time.
I've noticed when there was a bike line, handle it as special line for bikes and fill it with something, then was wondering why I had that intermediate point also for some other intersection, never thought that is because of parking, thank you @stant123 ! Usually I've ignored the left point of, what I know now is, parking., resulting in a bigger 1st line.
This mod, and not only this, should be part of the game, Paradox should pay the creators and include some mods into the game. Even if we get these mods free now, I think a lot of people will pay for a DLC with traffic mods that is better supported and integrated. (free will be better but we all know how it works)
And they could've made it like a part of the game (for example with Campus, they could've made a School of Transport facility or something, that unlocks these tools for ya. You know, cause you're producing educated Cims that know transport well. Ooooor in an upcoming DLC they could introduce a Town Hall System, where we could level up a Town Hall and unlock departments like a Transport Department). I'd love that. And A bit of traffic manager and customizing the bus stop bays too.)
It adds to the PC hit. The base game is kept free of PC hitting mods to low how much computer you need to run the game. Most people know the more mods you add the more PC you need to run City Skylines.
THANK YOU! This was the best video tutorial for this mod I have seen yet. I knew the most basic stuff, but I learned a few new tricks through this video. 👍
Great video, egg! You do a fantastic job of teaching while playing. Thank you so much. Your builds are very creative, informative, and I'm really surprised you only have 41k subs! Keep up the great work.
Node controller and intersection marking tool are giving me error while in-game and they are not working too. I don't have any broken assets and mods. Please help me to solve this as I want to use them.
Has anyone else notice the "Marking" selection is missing (the one to remove the crosswalks he talks about in the video at 3:33). This Video is only 10 days old and yet on my computer I don't see the Marking's selection. Any ideas of whats going on or how do I get it back?
I dont want to say that i am a noob with that tool, but also still far from beeing a pro. I also kinda liked the filler tool but holy moly start at 13:50 i lerned a game changeer that makes me wanna start a new World. Like right away, but since i still have about 20 minutes to go. It will be a hard fight to keep my exitment in controol. I have to finnish this video.
Nice introduction to the mods, for some reason my ‘’node controller” mod doesn’t know the option to hide markings am I missing something? Any help would be great!
Could be using an old version of NC? Unsure. Ronan above managed a fix with unified UI, try that too, here's a link: steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2255219025
@@OVERCHARGEDEGG awesome, thank you for the help, I will give it a go! P.s. really enjoying the ilos series right now, just found your channel recently and it’s inspired me to start a new build.
Even though I'm pretty confident with my use of Intersection Marking Tool, I did still learn something new about curb offsets. The one thing that bugs me the most is that you have a mod that I have been dying to use forever. It displays building icons (you had 30-something Sewage Backup icons displayed for the second half of the video, probably related to the one fire), and it sat in between your Traffic Manager icon and the Chirper birdie. What is that mod?
