Drivelapse video that follows Interstate 80 Business through Sacramento starting from Hwy 65 in Roseville and heading westerly through Sacramento meeting US-50 and Interstate 5 on its way westerly to Davis.
Interesting fact is that the current I-80 bypass route was originally signed as I-880 before the reroute. Most of Business Loop 80 was built in the 1950's originally known as the Elvas Freeway, hence the reason why the freeway is very narrow in spots with the absence of shoulders in places, low bridge clearances, and tight curves including the infamous Marconi Curve. After the reroute, I-880 was redesignated for most of CA-17 from I-280 in San Jose to the MacArthur Maze in Oakland in 1984.
So glad too see a video on Sacramento! Really interesting how Sacramento signs a freeway as a business route, not very common in the US. Great video as always!
We only have 5 freeways and most of em are major (I-80, I-5, US 50, CA 99, and CA 160). Sac is suppose to get a new freeway that connects I-5 in Elk Grove to US 50 in El Dorado Hills in the near future. I smell the city expanding or potentially new smaller cities in the making.
It's nice to see a video from Sacramento, California's capital. The city has grown a lot throught these recent years. It's actually quite surprising to see that I-80 Bus. is actually a full freeway, knowing that most business routes in the United-States are simply local routes throught some towns & cities (Mostly throught western & central U.S.). I also never knew that I-80 Bus. throught Sacramento was I-80's former alignment trought Sacramento, before it was decided to realign the route throught the north. Also have you seen the total eclipse that I talked about last friday? It's definitely something really exiting, knowing that the next one will happen while we'll aready be dead! Btw it's currently passing throught my aera as I'm typing this!
If I'm correct, back in early spring of 2022 in NoCal, you drove through Sacramento via westbound I-80 and BL-80 that day. After that, the next day, you continued westbound I-80 to the San Francisco Bay Area and entered US 101 and ended that video after passing SFO.
