George I can't believe that you've never heard of Saipan. It is, as you say a part of the Mariana chain of islands. And if my memory serves me right, it is yet another Island of the group where the US firstly stole them from the Japanese in WW2. It has several US bases on the Island which predominantly house Bombers. Just South of Saipan is Tinian, just a smaller version of Saipan, but also home to several US military bases. It was from Tinian that the US launched the Enola Gay, which carried the atomic bombs dropped into Japan. Tinian is undergoing massive structural upgrades to house bigger & more modern Bombers. Clearly designed against a Chinese threat. Unfortunately, the presence of these Nuclear facilities has made Tinian & Saipan primary targets in the event of war. Just like Guam is, further South. I don't think the locals deserve that threat, but they can do little to stop the US now that they have a foothold.

I must have missed mention of Assange during the debate between POTUS Biden and former POTUS Trump. AFAIK Assange was not even mentioned. Assange's case is not in purview pf POTUS, but is is handled by US Justice Department.

This guy obviously is not aware that Australia is now run by the Australian Labor Party as opposed to our version of the Conservatives. The Conservatives were in power from 2013 until 2022, they did the sub deal, they couldn't have cared less about Assange. Julian's legal team and his wife Stella have been appearing all over the Aus media in the last 48 hours and have sung the praises of our current PM as well as our UK and US ambassadors. His senior barrister Jen Robinson as well as Stella Assange have reported that when the plan landed in Australia Julian took a call from our PM and Julian told him "you saved my life". So Craig Murray should get a few facts straight before shooting his mouth off. We will keep him safe here as he is one of us.
