His most famous assist was the one in the Euro 88 final to Marco van Basten who scored with an amazing volley. Mühren was 37 old then. A very underrated but great Dutch player.
Fell in love with Ipswich when they beat Arsenal in the FA cup final in 1978, at 12 years old. The next years were simply incredible. Town did not win the league, but they won the hearts of ❤every football fan that loves seeing, efficient, entertaining, fantastic football, the way it should be played. Arnold Muhren was amazing, together with John Wark and Frank Thijssen in midfield.
His older brother Gerrie was the great left midfielder of Ajax who won the European cup three times in a row. Watch Gerrie Muhren at Bernabeu against Real Madrid...Arnold Muhren and Frans Thijssen were unlucky that they had so much competitors in Holland such as Wilem van Hanegem, Johan Neeskens, Wim Jansen, Arie Haan, Willie van der Kuijlen, Gerrie Muhren. Nice for him that when he was 37 he became champion of Europe with the Dutch national squad.
A FANTASTIC PLAYER AND WONDERFUL MAN AS WAS HIS DUTCH COMPATRIOT FRANS THYSSEN. WHAT AN ERA THAT WAS . HOPEFULLY OUR CURRENT MANAGER WILL BRING BACK THE GLORY TIMES.
Legend! What a left foot - with him in the team a free kick outside the area was as good as a penalty. Goodness knows what he'd be worth if he was playing today!
Arnold dispmayed a lot of the futch qualities at the time the dutch were excellent. Always brilliant & effective soccer carried out with simple passes & accurate positioning.
NICK MULLER maybe you could onto something there I’ve always said if sir Bobby had have turned down the England job Ipswich would have won the league in 83 as that would have been the next goal. Get out of Europe early no cup runs and a straight finish to become champions of England for the first time in 21 years
@@mrraoulandtheking11 I think the players would have stayed too but you cant blame Bobby for leaving for the England job it was one of the biggest jobs in the world of football then and he said 10 years in it I think no England manager since him has been good he choose the right players had a mixed bag of players and it worked wherever he went in football
Although against AZ in the finals Ipwich was lucky. AZ was superior that season but three days before the match against Ipswich they became Dutch champion. They partied for two days, were drunk for two days and incapable of playing footbal against a fit Ipswich. The return was won bij AZ 4-2 but that was not enough. AZ was very unprofessional.
