Eddie began his career began as a songwriter in the late 1960s, springboarding to a recording career after composing hits such as "Kentucky Rain" for Elvis Presley in 1970 and "Pure Love" for Ronnie Milsap in 1974. Later in the 1970s, Rabbitt helped to develop the crossover-influenced sound of country music prevalent in the 1980s with such hits as "Suspicions" and "Every Which Way but Loose." His duets "Both to Each Other (Friends and Lovers)" and "You and I", with Juice Newton and Crystal Gayle respectively, later appeared on the soap operas Days of Our Lives and All My Children.
Eddie died in May of 1988 after a battle with lung cancer.

I was only 5 years old when he was on the radio. I used to sit with my radio and impatiently wait for the station to play him. My parents felt so bad for me that they dialed the station and put me on the phone. The DJ thought it was so cute that he had me wait to ask again on the air. "Can you pway 'I wove a wainy night' by Eddie Wabbitt, pwease?" He was my idol. I still love him to death. He makes me so happy just listening to him. So cool. Just the way he talked and moved. and he was the coolest guy who ever lived. I love you, Eddie Wabbitt. I miss you.

It was 1980-couple, Eddie came to the Utah state fair, it was raining like nobody's business, Eddie came to the stage and when Kentucky Rain came on, he pulled the environment into his performance, we all were soaked and miserable when the show was over, but for the time we were there, nobody cared, we got to see Eddie Rabbitt... and that was all that mattered.

Eddie was a great entertainer, that never should be forgotten. I really miss his music. I remember his Brother, living in Nashville. He really took care of his Brother. He will be rewarded for that. May God bless Eddie.

The first time I ever got the pleasure of hearing him sing was 1976 in a dive bar in Killeen, Texas , i was 15 yrs old ,my dads best friend was National Gaurd , he was on 2 week training exercise dad I drove to Killeen from FtWorth to visit. We went to this dive bar for them to have a couple of beers, I drank dr pepper. Eddie came out and sang Kentucky Rain , I was an instant fan , I had only heard Elvis sang that song , that was 47 yrs ago

Nice fiddle work, but why does his fiddle have (green) duct tape on it? I remember reading once where Rabbitt said he incorporated a lot of minor chords in his tunes due to his influence from the Irish music. You can kinda understand that after hearing the 2nd part of the performance.
@2012thehero
@2012thehero 2 года назад
It was to close the F holes in the fiddle... His name is Bill Rehrig. Believe it or not my dad taught him how to play guitar and fiddle many years ago, he was only a teenager when he would come to our house and spend hours playing. Eventually he became better than dad and left Pa. to go to Nashville, first with Tanya Tucker, then Dolly Parton, and finally with Eddie. Dad used to tape on a reel to reel whenever he came up to visit us and they played for hours (no cell phones then). He had the first Walkman I ever saw. He also gave me an old Vox bass that he had (and I still have). Ah the memories...
@bigsmoke394
@bigsmoke394 10 месяцев назад
@@2012thehero Bill Rehrig was also Eddie Rabbitt's tour manager. Sadly he passed away in 2014. That's some nice memories you got there.
@2012thehero
@2012thehero 10 месяцев назад
@bigsmoke394 yes, lots of memories of dad and Bill. After my dad passed, when he would come home to visit his family in Lehighton PA he would always stop in and say hi to mom and me. Last time I saw him he told us that Rabbitt had lung cancer, before anyone else knew. We also got to meet Dolly through him. I was around 14 then. She was getting ready to perform at the Grand Ole Opry. She was in her dressing room getting her hair fixed but still took the time to talk to me and my mom. Beautiful and a very sweet lady. She of course wouldn't remember me, but I will never forget.
