In this film, made during the production of Shoah (1985), Claude Lanzmann interviews a farmer who in 1942-1943 worked in a field that was adjacent to Treblinka. Though this film was not included in the final version of Shoah, the outtake, along with many others, is available on the USHMM website: (collections.ushmm.org/search/.... An aerial photo of Treblinka taken in 1944 depicts the appearance of the field as described by the farmer; the top of the image points southwest. The film begins with Lanzmann, Barbara Janicka - who translates Polish to French, and the farmer from a nearby village, standing together approximately 200 meters west of Treblinka.
The interview takes place between 1978 and 1981.
Notes: with the exception of added subtitles, the film has not been edited. There is no sound from 6:35 until 9:00. The film ends at 23:14.
