I had discovered country about gay guys a few years back with Ty Herndon and Branden Stansell. Then I discovered Cameron about 6 months ago and I really love his music. He’s also easy on the eyes.
I found Cameron's music when I was looking for a male version of "Cowboy Take Me Away" His version is distinct from The Chick's version and really enjoyable if you can slow down and take the time to feel it. I would love to hear his version of "Hopelessly Devoted to You" Grease was the second or third album I owned so I grew up with Olivia's version and commented on a recent cover by a great female vocalist that no one's version compares to Olivia as Sandy singing that song. However with Cameron it is the contrast of a gay male perspective and a country approach that make it worth doing the cover. It is funny how Olivia's country song, Please Mr. Please stays with me, I don't really like the lyric, it has never been relevant to me, but without hearing it for decades I still remember most of it because she is a great singer. She has an earnestness in her story telling which Cameron has too, also they both have a nice touch of dry rasp in their voices but Cameron really needs to work on his falsetto or learn to yodel to come anywhere near matching the smooth tones Olivia has in the high notes. It was really a good interview.
