Birmingham is clearly the best team we've played all year. The quality of their skills and coaching was far above anything we've seen so far. They moved the ball so well to each other and were the only team this year to break our box defense on a consistent basis. I'm also betting it was their best game of the season as well.
Considering we ain’t played for two weeks we absolutely dominated you all game. You had 10 minutes at the start and 10 minutes at the end where we just managed the game with 10 men. You need more than 20-30% possession to go up this season.
@@EmuGamesMaster Ah…maybe. This Blues team isn’t your typical League one team and I bet it would have crushed the Blues team from last year in the Championship League. It’s hard at this point in the season to comment on the impact BC will have in the league this year and how teams like Wrexham will stack up against them and the rest of L1 over the course of the season.
I’ve watched you guys play a bit, thought today you were poor by your own standards. Idk if it’s because you weren’t up for it, or because we knocked you out of your rhythm. Was really worried about this game before kickoff, best we’ve played since we’ve built this team, though. Hope this doesn’t upset your momentum too much.
@@Scoobay I just think the Blues played to their potential today and that was different than anything Wrexham has seen so far in L1. I don’t suspect many other teams are gong to have the skill and ability to play the way Birmingham did tonight. I also think Wrexham will learn from this game and adjust moving forward. They’ll be fine and the next game between them will be even more interesting.

As a Blues fan born in North Wales, it was great to watch Wrexham for the first time and such a great atmosphere! You guys will be fine for the rest of the season. While we controlled the game after we clinched a goal back, you made it very difficult to get a shot in and youre style of play caught us out a few times. Looking forward to the reverse fixture now, it will be interesting to see how both teams develop as the season progresses!

BC are Championship level team that had a bit of bad luck lately, thats the only reason why they're even on League 1, but hey we'll take this meet up as an blessing in disguise for us Red Dragons to learn what it takes to be Championship level, because we sure as heck aint slowin' down now, and if theres anything our Wrexham boys and girls does consistently well in the past several seasons, is to LEARN from our mistakes then do BETTER moving forward ❤🤍🐲

If Blues play like that Every game, they'll romp the League 1 Title! Tom Brady's influence on blues players can not be underestimated! You can imagine every player he talks to, or the lads in a group must give them that added 5% of pure focus and belief to perform! Tom Brady is the entire book of sports Psychology & Marginal Gains! A Guy who was basically picked LAST in the NFL Draft, becomes a Legend and wins 7 Super Bowls! The Rookie no one wanted who supassed the established starting Quarter Back by the end of the year!! But fr me personally being born n bred in Birmingham and loving following the Wrexham Story, It was a win win game, and I hope they both pull each other up to the Championship and Premier League! On this Trajectory and Form, Blues could do a Wrexham and go back to back promotions straight to Premier League! They have a two Great owners now both in business and in sports leadership! And as Aston Villa fan, I'm already looking to future Prem Derbies with Birmingham! Absolutely nuts the Transformations both Villa and Birmingham going through! I'm a birmingham city fan and I was down the game tonight. Wrexham are a good team as he said you had a good 20 mins but then Chris Davis changed the system to stop the predictably of passing to your full backs then going for the long ball up to your striker. When Wrexham passed the ball across the back line they has good tempo and dragged birmingham all over the place. MIX IT UP WREXHAM STOP GOING DOWN THE LINE TEAMS WILL WORK YOU OUT GOOD MATCH THO KRO
Good that it's from Birmingham too, they're a class above all L1 teams this season in terms of skills and strategy, and so it's a great learning opportunity and not some unforeseen banana peel loss against a poorer performing team.
That press was relentless. On second watch, there are so many Wrexham players absolutely gassed after 70 mins. Guarantee a few of those players pick up niggles or extreme stiffness this week. Well done Blues, that was another level.
It was a hard match, well played by both sides; the Blues just put it together and took care of business. Well done to them! Wxm will take this and use it going forward. It's a long season!
Onwards and upwards always knew it was going to be a tough game for sure. But let's not dwell on it and take it as a massive learning curve and look where the team want to be in the near future

Bluenose here, but a big fan of Welcome to Wrexham and wish you lot all the best. I was very nervous about this fixture beforehand, and when you scored 2 minutes in the dread was real. We played well, and we needed to. But you've got a strong squad and brilliant coaches, so I won't be surprised if you dust yourselves off and get right back to what you were doing. The game at The Racecourse is gonna be a doozy. Here's hoping it's Blues and Wrexham in the Championship next year! KRO.
I'm a Brummie native and a Blues fan. Sat there last night and got talking with the people next to us. l It turned out that all four of us were from the West Midlands, three Blues fans and a neutral, and all four now live in the Wrexham area. What's the chances of that?
Goalkeeping error cost us big time and I felt we needed a couple of half time subs. Mullin should’ve come on after the break and I think we needed Scarr on. It was always going to be the toughest game of the season and we’ve got 3 tough away games out of the way already. Bolton, Peterborough and Birmingham… 4 points from those 3 away games is very good. The attack m this season is to consolidate and start to push on. It’s important to remember that and not get carried away with the promotion hype. We’re not ready for the championship yet. We have a ground to improve and training facilities to build as well as improving the team. I’m don’t think it’ll do us any harm to come down to earth right now. We’re doing amazing, this is a very tough tough league this season and we’ve had a great start. There will be bumps in the road, Birmingham have been spending premiership money and they treated last night as a cup final from the build up to post match. When you consider we were a non league club just 18 months ago and you look at how they celebrated that win it’s clear just how far we’ve come as a club and team. It reminded me of how Sheffield Utd celebrated when they beat us in the FA cup replay. You’d swear they’d beaten Real Madrid 😂 There are bigger. Clubs in this league with established grounds and crowds over double the size of ours. Yet, they worry about being turned over by Wrexham. It’s important we don’t get carried away by all the hype right now and remember how far we’ve come. If we can solidify our league 1 place this season and acclimatise to the big step up in quality and intensity we can steadily move forward. We expected to spend more than one season in league 2. We’d have to find at least 20-30 million to push up to Championship level. I think we’d have to be careful at that point because if it went wrong the whole project could unravel. We don’t have Birmingham City money or a completed stadium yet. We do have a great club with great players and coaches though. Even Bolton directors expressed concerns at having to find a further 20m if they’d gone up last season and they already have amazing facilities in place and big crowds. Remember where we’ve come from. There’s a whole world of difference between Wrexham and some of these clubs. We’re going in the right direction and not every game will be like that one. We will have to vary our playing style though. You can’t allow teams with the quality some of these have to dominate possession every game. The players will burn out and teams will suss it out eventually. We played a side that will be pushing for promotion to the premiership next season though. It’s important not to get to carried away about individual games and results regardless of whether we win or lose. It’s one loss in 6 games at a higher level after playing several of the better teams away from home. Averaged out over a season that’s 7-8 losses… Derby county lost 10 games and finished second last season.
Think its a bit harsh to say how Birmingham fans were treating this like a cup final, the whole reason for it all was the idea that wrexham having 2 seasons on the bounce and glory throughout could they stop a team that has been established and spent money. It was more a sign of reflect on not everything is gonna be smooth sailing. Thats the same for Birmingham there was anxiety in the crowd in the first 20 minutes, it wasnt comfortable but then after the first goal to equalise it was sort of we knew how it was going to go. I think you’ll still do well, just i wouldnt get bundled up into the idea of its a cup final. There is hype yes, there is atmosphere but if you think that we acted like this was a cup final then i really don’t know what to show you.

Anyone watching that game and anyone there, including Beckham who said he hadn’t experienced an atmosphere like that, would say that it was treated like a cup final. There was fire 🔥 ffs 😂 It won’t do us any harm to get a beating; it’ll keep them grounded. Stockport hammered us 5-0 at their place last season and similarly we couldn’t get a foothold in the game… we beat them 2-1 at home at the end of the season. Birmingham looked seriously strong on Monday. There’s no doubt they’ll win the league if they play like that most games. They shouldn’t really be in L1 though should they. I think the owners have played down the extent of the disaster getting relegated was when they took over a club that was second in the championship. It’s a great experience for Wrexham fans to visit big clubs with big stadiums and atmospheres . Many would never have witnessed anything like it and I did fear a few years back that newer generations of Wrexham fans never would which would’ve been a shame. Wrexham are doing much better than I expected, especially with the tough games we’ve had so far. It’s going to be long old rickety roller coaster season though.

Birmingham should of won the game with the experience they have got, and the money spent on players, 15 million for 1 player that's more than our whole squad. But we're still top of the league ❤
Not surprised the defense is weak with Oconner and Oconnell. Guess Parky saw it also that's why he picked up 2 defenders over the summer. Time to use them and get rid of those bench splinters.
Yes, clearly a learning experience. However, allowing them to play like that may be costly as this win was clearly important to them and may have begun Birmingham's rise.
It was an event for the boards to get eyes on the game. It gave the fans an opportunity to go back and forth, it was all pretty friendly but the defeat has got you lot on sour grapes. You played Birmingham city at a sold out St Andrew’s, this was your biggest game of the season. Delusions won’t help you.
Let’s be honest,Birmingham are in the position we have been in the past few seasons.They have been able to spend a lot more ££ on players than other teams. No need to ponder on this result as everyone in the league is playing for 2nd/3rd spot,Birmingham will go on to win the league. Something I have noticed in the last few games,and have not really seen any mention of it.Tom O’Connor has been way below the standard we know he has shown previously.His passing has been absolutely 💩,resulting in opposing teams creating chances.Also,his serious lack of pace has been evident when he has given the ball away and had to chase back an opposing player. Elliot Lee,WOW,what is going on with him.He is a shadow of the player we have seen the past few years.Seeing him gasping for air after 30 minutes,then again 3 minutes into the 2nd half,not in 1 game,but most games,makes you wonder is it his fitness or did we see him at his level in L2. Arthur was certainly at fault for their 1st goal,and he knew it,but it was good to see the fans not get on his back for it.We know how good he is,the only concern I have is his failure to come off his line and take the pressure off by catching some of the balls that come into the 6 yard box. I think we will see a positive response against Crawley on Saturday,and Marriott deserves to keep his place.After the goal he was feeding off scraps.Palmer should be dropped 💯

Think we let ourselves down tonight, dropped way too deep and with very little outlet. Camping on our own box for most of the match is not going to bring much joy. Birmingham excellent side , but shame we did not give it a real good go, we never got close to them and they had total control over the midfield with us. Bounce back needed and 3 points saturday and we on the front foot again and this result will soon be forgot.
Tbh i think you would have been hammered if you attacked us more. We controlled the game very well and we pulled you all over the pitch. You’re not gonna sustain top spot with 20-30% possession in games. I still think you will finish top 6 though. KRO

The defence basically camped on our 18 yard box all game, was never going to bring us joy. No outlet up top, and serious lack of pace was evident tonight. Well and truly beaten by a decent team.

He talks as if Wrexham played a good game, but they had 30% of the play and half as many attempts on goal. Seriously - if you want to perform well at this level you have to get possession, and you have to get to the opposition box - very simple principles. Birmingham use to play a low possession game - it didn't work. Good luck to you for the rest of the season - you have been an interesting time to watch over the last few seasons.
