Club co-chairmen Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds sit down for the first time to chat exclusively with Wrexham AFC. Filmed By: Amy Davies Interview: Ollie Williams
The sporting culture in Wales is changing, and Wrexham is the spiritual home of Welsh football. It is so important for Wales to get Wrexham back in the football league. Absolutely love what these guys are doing
Yeah i think people don't really appreciate what a difference a thing like this can do for an area, sports-wise. How many kids that would have quit football in Wales, never started in the first place, or never took it seriously, are now doing something differently? Those kinds of things add up in a game with such a high ceiling as football. It all synergizes together to where you get more motivated kids, with more of the good ones staying home, with better coaching and training, and hell by bringing more money into Wales (Especially with all the TV tourists Wales is going to get considering how big the show is getting) even better food for the kids! It might not turn every farmers kid into Messi, but it will make a difference.
The Welsh people are the salt of the earth. Wonderful people, stoic, bright, hardworking and good hearts.. to see what Thatcher did to the Kingdom of Wales genuinely is a travesty. Ultimately the Miners Guild was clearly getting too powerful for the Masonic crowd. To see the passion and dedication from Ryan and Rob to club, and to do well for humanity, is wonderful to see. Well done to all involved, and I will watch any updates on Netflix. From a fan in England.
Love watching these two no football watching ppl become not only part.of Wrexham culture and community but also see their love for football spark and grow. I hope that this journey not only helps Wrexham and Welsh football but also helps us Americans learn why football is the most loved sport and the beautiful game!
Love how they describe the emotions of joy and despair of being invested in a team. Reminds me why I got into it in the first place! Best of luck Wrexham from a Villa fan!
I'm a rugby fan (Bath, Wales and Western Force), but you people have re-invigorated my interest in football. Thank you so much for adding something else that I can be excited about and engaged with. It Caused me to spend last weekend playing Subbuteo. ~ laughs ~
And?, that's one game, move on, I've never understood why so called "supporters" will only support their club to an extent they agree with, call me old fashioned but to me when you claim to be a "supporter" then you should support your club to the HILT!!!, whether you agree with the decisions they make doesn't matter, you're not special!!!, saying "it's our club" all the time as if that actually means anything!!!.
@x#@_£&+ bro you have 2 of the biggest hollywood actors owning your football club and your getting seen by a lot more people so there is no need to complain plus to build up your football club it isn’t going to happen straight away it takes time.
@@TwinkleWinks2 don't know whats funny about stating facts, mullin for one was being chased by Blackburn and multiple league 1 teams before joining us so go try trolling somewhere else cause its always sunny In Wrexham
@@chaz2705 relax I'm not a troll. I just found it funny the way you describe those players. I'm giving my best wishes to Wrexham AFC. Hopefully with Rob and Ryan investing, this club will flourish.
@@TwinkleWinks2 from what's happened so far parkinson needs to leave before we'll flourish properly, all good having good players but need the coaching and tactics to go with them
This is beautiful to watch, The shivers I had At the torquay game, With our fans singing the national anthem. What an atmosphere it was, LOVE MY TOWN LOVE MY CLUB LOVE TO ALL MY WXM FANS
Such a shame we played shite!!!! It's seems it's all about these 2 and not the football. Parkinson has to go, we need a manager who can kick our way out of this league.
Never heard of Wrexham till about a year ago and got to say fallen in love with the club . The fans are something else . Great stadium and now you got these two gents leading ya club . I'm a Chelsea fan btw
My great uncle was a manager at this club, I like this pair too. I don’t support the team but I wish them all the success with all they do with them as owners 😊
Well done Ollie, that can’t have been an easy interview to do, not only are they your bosses and the media interest, but one of them is a really famous actor and the other is a known for harassing the extremely talented Hugh Jackman

I moved to Wrexham twenty years ago for work and I was told by a good friend and a Wrexham legend when you go to watch Wrexham at the race course it’s going to be with you for life.
I'd never heard of Rob before he took over. He pronounces Welsh things better than almost any Brit (Welsh excluded) I've ever heard. Even though it's up north; I hope for the very best
Incredible! Some things in life just grab you and you can't let them go. My first game at the racecourse was November 2015 a 1-0 loss to Braintree. I loved every second of it🤣. It grabbed hold of me and I think it's grabbed hold of Ryan and Rob. They seem genuinely interested and their words are heartfelt. Come on the TOWN!!
what a wonderful story this is. that feeling that they are experiencing about football...trying to put that in words or even understand it...its almost as if they don't want to, because it might diminish it in some way. in the (remote) case that you (Rob, Ryan) haven't read this already, this book might help you peg that feeling...as well as provide a great read: How Soccer Explains the World by Franklin Foer.
Being a football fan at every level is torture but it can also be the greatest high you can feel and you can tell that these two guys are now completely addicted to Wrexham and that will never leave them good luck with your sanity
Congratulations, to both of you, what wonderful news , A football team wow!! MY great grandson who is attending Yuba College is one hell of a Sports guy, very proud his dream is to follow what he loves in life, he's a running back ,plays Rugby, did wrestling an soccer. 19 yrs old an he wants to make something out of himself with whst he loves Sports.
Notts County fan (from the US) checking in. Yes, you'll get the moniker of "Hollywood FC" but I think you lot have a pair of owners that are passionate, responsible, and overall want what's best for the club. Hoping to see you Dragons, in League 2.
why do u support notts county lol?? That's a pretty strange choice for an american i must say. Anyway good on you for not just supporting the top clubs !!!
@@Noel11897 Been a Pies fan for about 20 years now. Admittedly, came to happen through the FIFA game. I enjoy the "Career mode", and taking a team from the bottom leagues and building them up to the top. Did that with Wrexham as at one point I believe as well lol. But since Notts were always in League 1 or 2 in the last decade, until the past couple years where they went down to the National League, and they have the history of being the oldest professional club/even having a tie/relation to Juventus, was always my obvious choice lol.
@@AkersJohn it seems a lot of people connect to clubs through career mode. Which is a good thing as most people just go for the top clubs. Such a random choice but i respect it lol. I hope they can get back into the EFL and grow from there.
@@808ross8 I discovered Preston North End trying to take them up in Football Manager. I think most people begin playing FM by taking over elite clubs like Man United or Liverpool. But after they master the game, the new challenge is taking lower league clubs up.
I was playing "devil may cry" and was orb farming. Decided to put Disney plus on. And found this Wrexham AFC on it. Decided to just put it on as background sound.... But.......then I started listening for 10mins and couldn't focus on my DMC gameplay. Ended up just watching the 2 episodes on Disney plus. It was mostly the struggle the local people is having.....I do hope this to guys show great motivation to the players. Bring the confidence into their life and town. Best thing is the world is slowly noticing this.
Not a wrexham fan, but I wish your club well for the future. Perhaps these Hollywood Actors can show the typical club owners how to actually be custodians for these important community assets.
Subscribed but noticed the vids are a bit slow after matches. And as a curious viewer, hope for more content to draw in viewers who don’t know about the club and it’s history and culture. Also would love vids on individual players as visual to the text written about them in the club website. And vids with club chants. Basically pull us in because we love a rocky story 😝
Someone needs to tell them , that when the score is 1-0 . Its spoken one nil lol.. I dont support Wrexham but bet it's a really welcome breath of fresh air and a exiting time. Good luck Wrexham fc and all your supporters
it's gonna be an awesome journey based on friendship and trust, that's the Wrexham way (apart from the one's that were throwing stuff at the Torquay fans 😬)
It’s so strange hearing them talk about football. They’re clearly very new to the culture but I’m sure they’ll get the pundit lingo down in no time. I hope there won’t be any gatekeeping from British football fans. I’m a huge fan of both Rob and Ryan and they deserve to be welcomed with open arms. I wish them and Wrexham the best of luck and I can’t wait for the new season of Its Always Sunny
I don’t think it’ll take long for the fans to turn on them because Ryan doesn’t seem to take it seriously and the Ted Lasso terminology will piss them off lol
@@fatbroccoli8 Ryan takes it seriously when it comes to business but his witty humour will be very popular when it comes to the team but I think what they don't want to do is change the club to much from its community roots
I'm from Wrexham, and these 2 nipples haven't got a Scooby what they're doing, it's the dream I didn't know I had? Bollox, not trying to give you a hard time btw, just telling it how we see it
@@artemistheninjahorse5741 what did you expect from them? Someone who neither worked nor lived in anything related to football is not gonna turn into experts after they bought a club.
Hi , as a Leeds fan I understand the Roller coaster Football is ! , at times my weekend is an absolute joy to behold no better feeling after we've won ! , after we lose I cant even talk to anyone till at least Monday , even then it can drag on till midweek !, its in your blood , ingrained in our life you live and die football , it can make or break you !!, more often break for me , thing is I love football , only thing more precious to me are my kids !
Hi. This is good for Wrexham to have these superstars at Wrexham. I think Wrexham FC should join a Celtic Club Cup on top of domestic and European football. I think a Celtic Club Cup with all Scottish Premier sides, plus the big Welsh sides Cardiff City, Wrexham, Swansea City, and Newport County. Plus selected sides from the Welsh Premier, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, Brittany, Cornwall and the Isle of Man. Imagine games like Glasgow Celtic v Wrexham, Aberdeen v Swansea City, Cardiff City v Glasgow Rangers, Nantes v Newport County, Truro City v the Isle of Man, Rennes v Shamrock Rovers, and Linfield v Dundee United. I think Wrexham will do well under these new owners. Wrexham are a sleeping giant of Welsh football.
It’s funny hearing these two talk about football. Bless them for their enthusiasm and Americaness/Canadianality. Having said that, if they really wanted to experience the magic of grass roots footy in its purest essence they should’ve bought an English lower league team. I don’t have anything against Wales or welsh folk at all. I think they’re lovely and it truly IS God’s country. It’s just that Rugby is the top sport in Wales ….Fact.
First of all Wrexham play their football in the English league so they have invested in a club that could potentially get to the premiership, it’s not a fact that rugby is the top sport in Wales, it might be regarded as our national sport but there are actually more registered footballers in Wales than rugby players with 90,000 against 80,000. There are just as many football fans in Wales as there are rugby fans. As a Welshman I love both sports.
@@mrjw6701 Rugby is the top sport in Wales…get over it dude. If Rob and Ryan want to get to the prem, power to them. If they want to experience REAL grass roots football with out all the diving, cheating, prima-donna players, prawn sandwich corporate fans etc, then they should have bought an English lower league team. Best football and best football fans in the world.
@@JuhoNelimarkka and???...still the brits created the name and used it so there's that....stop blaming us for using it and I rather use football for our game...sorry but not really...lol
Ryan Reynolds is one of the biggest movie stars in the world, and is not afraid to use his star power to pull in the sponsorships. They're going to fill their soon to be 15,000 seat stadium which will easily give them the revenue to get into League One. After that, it's gets a lot tougher, but a well run club their size should be able to make it to the Championship with a little good fortune.
