He should be expected to know. about protocol and had social advisors that would say it was impolite to have Beyonce sing Etta James signature sing when she was still able. The Wiz with Michael and Diana was extraordinary. It outshined the Wizard of Oz. The soundtrack alone with Ashford and Simpson, and Quincy was Oscar worthy for best musical soundtrack. The production and creative genius in The Wiz was "all of that" and more.
