I'm not sure why the algo insists that I watch this old video, but I finally clicked! Our Phoenix local boy when he was younger. Nice. Everyone around here likes him - he's VERY likable. Devoid of rockstar ego. Intelligent. Well-spoken. He used to do local radio spots and shows all the time.
Alice looks like my first wife in this interview. Same hair and face shape. Haven't talked to her since 2004. I think she's in prison in Spain somewhere for arson.
It is amazing when Alice came back in 1986 how a few of his views changed. He now tours much more than 3 weeks at a time (even in 2020) and tours overseas all the time. He still is tremendous live and still putting out great albums.
This looks like about 1981 or 1982 at the time of his drug addiction. His thoughts really wander here like his interview on the Tom Snyder Show in 1982. I feel he never did look good with his hair up, but he always strived for the weirdness, and still put on good shows at that time. Looks like he had a problem with his teeth, from all the booze and drugs. From various videos and interviews you can see this. He was probably embarrassed and went through a lot of strife and pain. Now in the present, he has a gorgeous smile. This was a real treat, this interview, and thanks for posting it.
Special Forces is one of my all time favorite albums ever. I still have my original LP and still play it often. I have the CD too but that vinyl sound can not be beat.
Same here, wonderful album as are all of these so-called 'blackout' albums they're intelligent hard rock with a funny bone unlike the airhead metal era that would follow.
Alice has always had a great sense of humour and always has been a decent down to earth guy - which is refreshing as there are a lot of arrogant shithead rockgods out there
I was at that concert at the Sunrise in Florida in 1981. It was my first concert of many and it was the best. We missed the opening band called the Spiders due to my friends car overheating on Alligator Ally...but we arrived just as the show opened with Who Do You Think We Are. Alice mixed old songs like Working Up a Sweat and Raped and Freezin (he did a mexican hat dance at the end) with his newer stuff like Pain and You Look in Rags where he danced with a rag doll. Awesome show!!
Wow, never seen this one before! Thanks for posting. Special Forces continues to be in my monthly playlist, and I always listen from start to finish. It's a sprint, just like he says here!
I feel like Alice really does remember a lot from this era, but this is just a part of his life he wants to forget. If that's the case I still respect his wishes to not talk about it
@@pauld6400 It was a dark time for him physically and mentally. Not to mention his wife almost left him and Warner Bros dropped him... It was just rough
@@stevencooper3202 really 20 years? When did his career really start because I am quite sure this is from ‘81? He is probably much younger than he looks here as well because obviously the drugs/alcohol had a strong hold on him here. I am pretty sure he was not big in the 60’s but I could be wrong and am too lazy to Wikipedia it.
very cool. As mentioned by others some changes in views over just a couple of years. Obviously he was on and off allot of drugs in this era. (teeth looking different here for sure!)
I guess he won't remember this interview, seeing as he didn't recall recording Special Forces. I do like those three albums he has no memory of - Flush, Zipper, and Forces.
Somewhere between May and August 1981 based on the fact that calico was born in May 1981 and he mentions her being a baby and the fact that special forces was about to come out soon and it came out in September.
