When the camera dollies back through the bar room doors at the end of the sketch, it nearly brings a tear to my eyes as I remember watching The Jackie Gleason Show on Saturday nights living on our family farm.
The clip comes from The Jackie Gleason Show's American Scene Magazine variety show in the early 1960s. Maybe 1964 or 65, just after Gleason made the move to Miami Beach. Frank Fontaine was a legend for doing Crazy Guggenheim. Gleason loved doing this sketch because he could just react to Fontaine. And Gleason could do that. How sweet it is.
