There are so many people saying he's arrogant. I think you have to be really confident to keep a band going when you get so much hate. But Nickelback is a band that really interacts with their fans and if they were that arrogant they wouldn't really care about their fans that much.
People who say they don’t have good songs, don’t listen to the lyrics. They have some pretty good songs telling us a lot about society. This is probably part of the problem, because people who can only write hate comments might not be able or ready to think about the lyrics.
I'm just curious why the hell someone from nickelback is in an interview done by METAL covenant? why are the definitions of metal being ignored by all these stupid magazines and video channels. Half of the shit i've seen for the last 15 years being covered by "metal" media outlets,...is...not...even...close...to....metal. what's happened?
I don't get all the hate on Nickelback. They're a party band. Nothing more. I buy the concert tickets and the CD's (yes, I still try to by the CD whenever I can. This download generation misses out on all the hidden gems on a CD) but I sure as hell ain't gonna take world advice from them. In my opinion there's no such thing as a bad song. Just whether YOU like it or not. Cus some one somewhere right now is getting through a shitty day because of justin beiber. I shudder to think about that poor soul, but hey, that's what music is supposed to do. As far as Nickelback being interviewed on a metal show, There isn't a whole lot of good metal to be there. Just saying. And anyway, Nirvana and grunge fucked up the identity thing good and proper. They were the best and worst thing to happen to modern music. When Warrant came, a Nirvana was most definitely needed. But look at the crap that came in the wake. I don't see another Metallica or GnR or even R.E.M. on the horizon anytime soon. And the instant download has a lot to do with that. Why save up for the CD when you can just get the song you want? Yeah I'm 44 and made it just fine without the instant gratification thing. I agree. Chad has written some real, meaningful songs and some great rockers and party songs that are just fun to jam out to. What's wrong with that? I crank most of them up. And yes, CDs over streaming or downloading any day.

Calling Nickelback productive because they produce an album every two to three years is proof of how the majority's expectation of music has gone down hill in the mainstream of modern times. The Beatles released Rubber Soul, Revolver, Sgt. Pepper, and the White Album in little more than three years time, Dylan just as many. Not to compare the poster boys of mediocrity to the greatest in popular music songwriting history, but our standards could use a little help. Chad Kroeger is popular and rich, but as Paul McCartney says, "Money can't buy me love." It can't buy talent either, that's for goddamn sure.

But lesson number two in this is Nickelback is also popular because Chad not only writes number one hits for his band, he also writes songs for several other bands. Santana, Theory Of A Deadman,( which would not even be as good as they are now without Nickelback!) Look on the first people Theory Of A Deadman thanks: not Slipknot or, Aka Stone sour, its simply put, Chad Kroeger. Lmao. Nickelback also wrote songs for Timberland, and also along side Avril Lavein, and many others to name but a few. Did Slipknot ever manage that? Hell no! And I don't see stone sour holding that kind of title either. Lol. And to those who say Nickelback blows, sucks, or anything to that effect, seriously y'all can go get bent lol. To start with Nickelback's best record sales were 50 million records. Now its reached way more than that. Do your research before you ever bash Nickelback. everything he says just shows how everything is done from the viewpoint of selling records and making a popular product. not for the art or enjoyment of it. gotta hand it to him. he's managed to sell his homogenous bland product to the masses. so he succeeded in doing what he wanted. But seeing this side of music. purely as a marketable product is depressing and makes me lose hope. so many people who actually have talent and care about their music who genuinely live for it go unnoticed. the bleeding dry of the music industry is disheartening.
MendMyWings 7 I was thinking the same. it's gets me to think about most music I listen to as "did they write this from the heart and because they love it or did they just write it for a pay check"
IntrovertedLoner i tend to find that music written for the paycheck as you so brilliantly put it, is often (Not always) identifiable by it's hollow or emptiness. when music is written 'From the heart' so to speak, it shows. it's like an extra driving force behind the song that just makes it so much more authentic to the listener. i mean this could all be BS and i might be the only one who feels this way lol. But i find that the more the artists really 'feel' the music and put everything they have into it, the more people can relate to it. Not in the same way as each other, or the artist, but that authenticity just seems to lend itself to a deeper listening experience and being able to identify and relate. regardless of genre or subject matter etc it always seems that artists who really care about their craft consistently end up with a better, fuller and more authentic sound. Many don't care, but these little things make the difference between just listening to a barely catchy generic song that sounds like everything else. or a beautiful listening experience which doesn't just end in the ear canal. it affects your mind and you fully experience the song not just hear it. you feel it. Sorry for the world's most convoluted explanation of a simple concept x
We are watching your system just seen Corey's reply. it's true that Chad is just jealous of Corey and trying to latch onto the audience that he has who follow him so religiously and try and get into the spotlight for their new album. yet just another way he's thinking about selling more records. also the comments Corey made about him in the past were made like 15 years ago apparently lol. he now looks incredibly pathetic and Corey has handled it very well not giving it any more undue attention that Chad so obviously and desperately craves. i actually kinda pity him now. with everything he has he's still jealous of others and resorting to things like this. Corey put so eloquently his viewpoint and how it's obviously great to sell records but that's not the goal you set out for. it's about the music not the sales and it was nice to hear him point that out and hear that he's not in the same camp as Chad when it comes to desperately doing anything to sell records. i think i gained a little hope back from my earlier disheartening. And i think i know whose album i shall be buying and whose album i shall not lol. somehow trying so hard to just sell records makes a worse finished product. it's not the same and the person not actively trying to just knock out lots of samey, generic 'hit' songs is the one who ends up with a better album. whether it translates that way in sales...well i doubt it but i have no respect for people who have no respect for music and the craft x
