Here we go with the idiots comming in. ELVIS THE MOVIE IS A MOVIE. Tom Hanks wife is friends with Patricia Presley who told them that the COlonel was one of the nicest men she ever met. Even though Tom and the producer knew this they still took "artistic liberties" in to writing a story about two polar opossites - the good kind elvis and the manipulative manager parker, Stop juding before you even try to see the truth omg

I don't think the movie was accurate. According to the facts, the Colonel took 25% of elvis' earnings and only 50% of the merch. Also, though the Colonel didn't have a passport, another reason no overseas tours were done is because of the guns and drugs elvis always had with him

My main provable gripe with Parker is that he interfered with Elvis's music, and that was against the deal they had. He did it by insisting on 1/2 of the publishing on any song Elvis sang. If they refused, Elvis didn't cut the song. He almost lost his whole comeback and all the songs like Suspicious Minds, Don't Cry Daddy, In The Ghetto, Kentucky Rain and all the rest that were done under Chips Moman at American Sound Studio in Memphis. Moman stood up to him, it no doubt hurt Chips's career. Read Alanna Nash's books. She lays it all out.

Forget his music, Parker continued to squeeze whatever he could monetarily out of this poor man when he was visibly dying....parading him around like a circus animal, allowing him to get fucked up on Quaaludes and barbiturates and pushing him onstage when he should have been in hospital or at home recovering from chronic substance abuse...he shouldn't have been touring for at least 3 years...maybe then he could've seen his daughter grow up
@marysueeasteregg

Yes. I gather Parker also interfered with Elvis's movie career, or more precisely, his deep aspiration of becoming a serious actor. Presley was put in films of negligible quality, and seemingly blocked from getting acting training.

@@rampageclover9788 exactly. There's a good chance Elvis could still be alive today if he hadn't been worked so damm hard. If he had worked less and done stuff he enjoyed and the way he wanted it, maybe he doesn't turn to drugs and alcohol. Which in turn potentially saves his marriage since he's happier and spends more time with his wife and kids. Plus he'd have made more money since parker took so much of what was rightfully his. A damn shame

@screamingpirhana Wanting 50% Publishing rights on a song sung by Elvis Presley back in the day was actually a fantastic deal, (it was also very common practice at that time for all manager to demand that) because owning 50% of the publishing rights on an Elvis Presley song was better than having 100% ownership on the same song sung by someone else. For instance, Dolly Parton turning down Colonel Parker's offer re: I Will Always Love You; was categorically a bad business move, luckily for her Lightening struck twice when Whitney Houston decided to record the song for The Bodyguiard and it going to Number one, but she had to wait 25 years for it to happen. Alanna Nash is a fairytale fiction writer. She alludes to stuff to sell a book but actually does not have any proof whatsoever if it's true or not. For instance, the whole murder in the Netherlands that she heavily insinuates Tom Parker committed and was the reason why he came to the US in the first place and the ONLY reason why Parker "would not allow" (that's bullsh*t btw) Elvis to tour abroad. The only ones she is able to con are those who want to hate on Tom Parker and will believe her words over anything else out there, even the FACTS. Ask yourself this: If Tom Parker was so afraid of being discovered and sent back to the Netherlands for a murder, Allana Nash wants you to believe, he committed, then why on earth did he serve two years in the US Army? Why on earth did he become the Manager of the most iconic Rock 'N' Roll star of the Century? You'd think he'd want to lie low, keep his nose clean, right? Also, did you know Tom Parker had already made Country and Western stars out of Eddy Arnold and Hank Snow before he managed Elvis Presley? When people say "If Tom Parker made Elvis, why didn't he make another one?" Well Tom Parker already had, twice, in the Country and Western Genre. Here's something else for you to chew on. Tom Parker wrote up a contract that included two non-singing movies for Elvis, but RCA and MGM turned it down (they knew the big money was in the all singing bubble gum movies aimed at the teenagers). Instead of turning to Elvis and saying "Sorry son, I tried my best" Parker instead took that contract somewhere else. General National Pictures picked it up but only as a one movie deal; Charro! It basically bombed. It made money but nothing like the bubble gum movies - if I were to insert MY thoughts onto someone else, like Alanna Nash often does, I would think this is why Elvis did not make any more films after 1969 - He didn't want to do any more bubble gum movies and his fans weren't accepting his non-singing roles.

Someone in Elvis' entourage whom I knew told me this story about the Colonel, so I can't verify it anywhere else. But it's a good one. Apparently at the height of his popularity, Johnny Carson wanted to have Elvis on his show. Mostly because Elvis was not, at the time, doing ANY television appearances. So his people approached the Colonel, and asked him what it would cost them to have Elvis do just a walk-on, sit at the desk, chat for 2 minutes, and not even sing. Just a television "walk on". The Colonel allegedly said, "Let's say 2500.00." The powers that be readily agreed and sent a contract over to Parker immediately. The next day, they got a call from the Colonel who said, "Why is the contract for a measly 2500 bucks?" They replied, "You agreed Elvis would do just a simple walk-on for 2500.00!!."" The Colonel replied, "Yeah...that's the price for a walk-on. It'll cost ya $200,000.00 for Elvis to walk OFF."

The Aloha concert via satellite was the pinnacle of what Colonel Parker could have done for Elvis' career. After that, Elvis should have ditched that dirtbag and found another manager. For that matter, he should have ditched him even after getting out of the Army. Times change in a long career, so does an artist as they grow. Under new management, Elvis could have done more of what he creatively wanted to do, took better control of his path and got his life back. He was with the Colonel for way too long! It was a business only relationship and the Colonel took Elvis for everything he could. When he first saw Elvis, all he saw were money bags, that's it.

The moment Elvis signed the Contract he was imprisonment. Colonel Parker took 50% of profit. And he also put Elvis in enormous debt for every thing he payed for. In 1968 he put him in Las Vegas, to perform 2 show per night, 6 days a week. To perform until he died 1977. It was slavery, nothing less. RCA also took _everything_ from him. His songs, his name. Sure they enabled the World to see him sing, because after they owned all rights. Not the artist himself. Other music artists has suffered the same horrible faith.

I'm from The Netherlands and a very big Elvis fan. I am now 61. Elvis has been destroyed in my eyes by a greedy Dutchman, I can't see it any other way. Of course, like most people, we don't know all the facts and how often do managers exploit their artists. Squeeze until nothing comes out anymore. Elvis couldn't handle the dramas in his life, his mother's death, the divorce from Priscilla who is now also exploiting his death. Not surprising that Elvis sought a way out in drugs and bad food. Funnily enough, that helped to become a legend to this day and will be remembered in history as one of the greatest entertainers of all time. Thanks to the villain Colonel Parker, one of the causes of his early death. I hope my English is not to bad.

not one of causes. The cause. He put in 5 years contract 2 shows per night, 6 per week. He wasn't a manager. He controlled him. This happens right after he did the "song" to tribute Kennedy's death. Parker, saw Elvis fought back, so he executed him. And when Elvis wanted out.. he brought up that he had debts since his first performance. If that isn't murder, I dont know what is ... However. I'm also worried RCA had lots to do with things. Elvis was "Parker's" slave.

That's not entirely true. In the beginning he took 25% which I don't know exactly how that was the standard even. The 50-50 split was later, but the merchendising deal is the sneaky one, whereby Elvis didn't get anything from it and Vernon got a Tiny cut and Parker was the main benefactor. Parker sold this to Elvis as some side work he was doing, no biggie, but in fact, long term was the biggest. Alanna Nash, author of many of the most acclaimed books on Elvis, who has spent around a decade of her life researching the Elvis world, has estimated, that when everything was taken into account, all the deals between Colonel and Elvis, that Colonel was getting around 80% of the total Elvis pie when Elvis died.

Aloha from Hawaii was a good point to quit the Vegas gigs.. Ah man... Elvis could have been SO much bigger and badder... He was the best! The jumpsuits were cool but.. When he got older, (and move around less) I think they got awkward.. A nice classy suit and more focus on pure singing would improve the outlook! 80s.. 90s.. Most of them died without him even being aware of it. His brother had to tell him his Mother died a few years prior always wondering what happened to him. If that was my brother i kicked the living shit out of him. And all to chase a American dream leading a fake life constantly worrying he had to go back or that the U.S. goverment would find out who he truly was. Which they did. But in the end all that manipulating for stature,money and power was payed back in full in karma currency. The man had everything,except the things that he should have really cared about. I'm not saying the man was all Evil but after all his work this is how people remember him for the most part. Both in America and The Netherlands. Because trust me Elvis while never having performed overseas still made it worldwide. And what problems he had with Drugs and Carreerstress were still his own responsibility. OR...would he have been just another mid-level, southern, country singer touring fairs and small venues like Hank Snow, Ernest Tubb, and the rest? Remember! .....those first songs from Elvis were country-western songs, and that kind of music was not very popular in 1955. So there's a lot to consider insofar as Elvis/The Colonel is concerned.

The original investigation was bungled. What he did display is called "consciousnesses of guilt." He made sure he was a citizen of NO country. After he joined the service in peacetime - 1929, he wouldn't apply for anything requiring a document of any kind. But in joining, he renounced any previous citizenship. He didn’t let Hollywood chew up Elvis and spit him out like they did everyone else. He made sure Elvis got money over an extended period of time for each movie he did. He made people pay to see Elvis which kept him special and an attraction while everyone else was so overexposed. No one there knew how to handle Elvis’s problems, not just Colonel. He also wanted the sycophants gone from Elvis’s side and that didn’t help his public perception either because they spoke ill of him. He was right though. A major theme in the recent movie, “Elvis,” is, “Colonel Parker bad man.” For those who do not who Parker was, he was Elvis’ manager from a little after Elvis’ discovery to until his death. A known claim is that Parker took great advantage of Elvis, being more concerned for his own welfare, in the form of money, than Elvis’ welfare in the form of same and, more importantly, in the form of mental and physical health. In contrast to what the movie portrays, Sonny West, Elvis' friend and personal body guard, a member of the “Memphis Mafia,” had nice things to say about Parker. During a presentation that he gave (Up Close & Personal with Sonny West) after the passing of both Elvis and Parker, he said, "But Colonel, to make a bad decision with all that he had to make ... I'm going to tell you something. I'll tell you this and I mean it from the bottom of my heart. Colonel Parker ... If I could go to my grave and make half of the right decisions that he made regarding Elvis, I would be very happy that I had really, really accomplished more than I ever thought I could … and along with that, I would take all the bad decisions that he's made and I'd take all of them and I'd still be way outbalanced. But, he, he was, uh, his ... his … Elvis was his best interest … and there's been things that have come out against him ... they weren’t intentionally done … like Colonel Parker being the bad guy … you, know … because he wasn’t. He cared about Elvis and he did the best he could and I think he did a hell of a job. I worked with him a lot on tour so I was with him constantly on tour out there and I saw what he did for Elvis.” In the same presentation, in reply to a question about Elvis, West said, “I would say … probably what really sticks out in my mind … if you kind of took everything together about Elvis, with his humility and his warmth and his compassion and his concern and take all of this … and, you can probably wrap it up in one word … is, humanity. His humanity was something like, you just don’t, you know, it’s such a big word but he covered that word very well. It really brings him to it, you know … yeah … humanity.” In a June 22, 1977 interview, before Elvis’ passing, Elvis’ father, Vernon Presley, said, "Colonel Parker is an honest man. And I think that's where the big organization and the big togetherness comes. You know? Once you find out, you don't have to worry about a guy being your manager, what he will do for you ... he handled it ... you do the show ... everything worked smooth.” In West's case, harboring favorable opinions towards Parker might be attributed to Parker producing the money-making opportunities that he did. In the same vein, Elvis, the "bread and butter" of the operations, combined with Parker’s business prowess, enabled a quality of life that West would not have been able to enjoy otherwise. Therefore, his loyalty was to both. As for Vernon Presley’s opinion, at least at the time of the interview, some say that he was snowed by Parker. Like West, Mr. Presley also enjoyed the fruits of Parker's labor - as conniving and manipulative as Parker has said to have been. The bottom line is Parker was able to produce the venues that equated into dollars. Although his antics might have been questioned during the process and much later, the concern at the time that it was happening wasn’t strong enough to change the equation by replacing Parker. As long as the money kept rolling in, the relationship that had been established wasn’t questioned, business as usual as it evolved was the accepted norm.

Here is a link, at the bottom, to all the concert halls in Europe, their capacities and the dates they were built. You can sort by dates. There were plenty of indoor halls with 10,000 + capacity in the 70s. Another American act, as an example was becoming famous in the early 70s: Alice Cooper. A radical American band like that in their early 20s toured Europe quite a bit in the early 70s but why not Elvis, the King of Rock and Roll? Author Alana Nash could not verify the murder thing in her research. Colonel Parker could easily have been naturalized and become a citizen. He had connections. Parker's 2nd wife said he had a passport but did he ever leave the US? Maybe he didn't want to? In the book, "Elvis 57 The Final Fifties Tours" author Alan Hanson states that Colonel Parker was at the infamous Vancouver Canada show where there was a riot of sorts. Was it easy to get into Canada in the 50s? I visited Canada with my parents when I was a teen in the 70s. We were US citizens and we needed to show a birth certificate or a passport then. Elvis expressed numerous times that he wanted to play around the world. That is one reason he bought all the planes. The Lisa Marie was capable of flying overseas. I read that Elvis was even planning a European tour before he died with or without the Colonel but he died before this could happen. The only counter I've ever heard as to why the Colonel always tried to block a world tour according to Sonny West, Elvis' bodyguard for 16 years, whom Elvis fired in 1976, was all the guns and drugs Elvis always had. Parker was afraid of going to a place where they didn't know the laws and didn't know the language and getting arrested for the drugs, i.e. an international incident. 1957, pre-Army days, Elvis toured 3 cities in Canada: Toronto, Ottawa and Vancouver. No drugs. After Elvis got turned onto uppers in the Army, even buying a whole jar full at the PX in Germany and giving it to his new secretary to bring over to the states, there were no more out of country trips for Elvis. The Colonel had spies in the Memphis Mafia so the Colonel knew Elvis was doing these drugs. Then in 1963, Elvis did not even go to Mexico for filming the movie Fun in Acapulco. Some filming was done in Mexico for the movie sans Elvis. Reasons for why Elvis didn't go to Mexico have been discussed but was the real reason to prevent Elvis from getting into trouble at a border crossing? The Colonel even blocked Elvis when he wanted to vacation in Europe. The Colonel would not have needed to go to Europe if Elvis just went on a vacation. But Parker convinced Elvis the European fans would be upset if Elvis would vacation in Europe but had never toured there. Some say one reason Elvis wanted the narc badge from Nixon was so he could go anywhere and not be hassled about all the drugs. He was always careful to get a prescription and gave big financial gifts to doctors all the time as well as bringing them to Vegas to party. Whatever the case, Elvis toured around and around and around the US for 8 years like a fish in a bowl until his death. It breaks the heart. According to Sonny West, Parker knew the drugs were a potential problem if he went international so in that sense Elvis wasn't easy to manage. So is Parker covering for Elvis here saying Elvis didn't want to play outdoors? As a consolation, Parker arranged the Aloha satellite show to simulate going around the world. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_indoor_arenas_in_Europe

Elvis’ manager, Col. Tom Parker, said in a press conference shortly after his death: “Elvis didn’t die. The body did. We’re keeping up the good spirits. We’re keeping Elvis alive. I talked to him this morning and he told me to 'carry on.’” (Elvis did not die and he wanted out. - Col. Tom Parker. 1977) After hearing so many stories about the death of Elvis Presley, I have decided to tell the world the real story on the facts concerning that day in August, 1977. Yes, that day, the 16th of August. Is it a coincidence that a person born on that January 8, first month, eighth day, would perish on the 8th month and the 16th day? Probably if two (2) people were born on that day it makes more sense. You see, numerology always played an important part of my life and still does today. So many people have written or spoke about my death as a hoax. It was not a hoax! I decided to reinvent myself in the form of my brother (Jesse Garon) and yes, Elvis Presley did die that day. But after much searching for the right people, I found several people from different states who I consider my most loyal and trustworthy friends. To some people this book will be just another scandalous piece of fiction, but when you are done I think you will think otherwise. I always felt my brother deserved to live and what better way to let him live his life than to end mine. I was lonely, depressed, in bad health and my numerology chart said that this was the time for it to come to end. Anyone who studies numerology will understand, those who don't may want to look into it. All of the facts (and there are many) even the experts will say they are more than coincidences. I no longer give away Cadillacs or expensive pieces of jewelry because I am nothing more than a man who had a very famous brother. I am not a great literate (I never wrote my own songs), but I am not illiterate either. The perfect day August 16, 1977, 1 + 9 + 7 + 7 = 24, my age backwards (42), the facts go on and on. But my true reasons for the book are for my fans. My death was not a hoax! To my fans, please forgive me, my brother deserved to live, he was with me constantly (spiritually). My life would not be the same had he lived at birth. This was my way of giving him life, and corny as it sounds. The Colonel took this secret to his grave. He was a loyal friend. But I will no longer stand by and have people like Gail Brewer tell you stories that are pure fiction. This book written by a true friend will help you realize why I did what I did. - The Truth About Elvis Aron Presley In His Own Words. (2001). My fascination with the idea of a hoax about death was when Jim Morrison died July 3rd, 1971. Although I saw no correlation (he died at age 27) I was astounded that as famous as he was the body was just closed up and shipped out. Now I don't know all the facts concerning his death. I thought it awfully strange that no autopsy was performed (or so I thought) and just forgotten about. There were a lot of rumors about his death. I noticed he was born on the 8th day. Born in 1944 = 1-8 and died in 1971 = 1-8. Remember my comeback in 1968? 1+9+6+8 = 24. Obviously, I was no longer 24, so I reversed the age to 42. The next time that number had any relevance was 1977 (1+9+7+7 = 24 when I would be 42. Numerology can and does play an important part of my life and we knew that would have to be the date. Most people if they know what to look for will find significance in the forms of numbers in all of my movies! Example: gravestone in " Loving You" (year) 1878 = ? (1+8+7+8 = 24). You have to look at the movies. My hero James Dean died at the age of 24, but I was on top of the world then and wanted to live. - The Truth About Elvis Aron Presley In His Own Words. (2001). I will start about 1974 when the thought first came to me about faking my death. I have always been fascinated with the occult and other spiritual things. When I first saw a wax dummy of myself made by a Mr. Cooper I was fascinated with it. For some time I had thought if it was possible? Could I pull this thing off? I had asked Mr Cooper if he could make another wax dummy for me. He said he could. I in turn said I wanted him to do it and keep it strictly confidential. When I had mentioned it to a very few close friends (Joe Esposito, Larry Geller) they did not think I was serious. I was tired of being Elvis Presley, my health was deteriorating. I just couldn't keep up. My finances were floundering because of my daddy's poor business ventures. I was at my wit's end. As the years progressed I had my ups and downs which are pretty well documented in other books. I also had two detectives from Colorado who I trusted immensely. Originally the date was 1976 according to my numerology charts but I chickened out. A pact was made on the grounds of Graceland one night, hands placed over hands that this secret would never be spoken of outside this room. I picked four (4) of us initially and to this day all have kept the secret. I also know when this book reaches the bookstores people (my loyal friends) will be heartbroken. They took care of me and convinced others that I was no longer alive. In reality Elvis Presley died that day and my twin brother "Jesse" came to life, living in hiding but as a normal human being. I skip around because I am writing stream of consciousness. My own Daddy bless his soul never knew the truth. Little Lisa was told months later and explained to her she would not see me much. The Colonel took this secret to his grave. Many people believe me to still be alive but I was told in the beginning there would be no contact in order for this to work. I go thru a lot of ups and downs since 1977 and have lived in many states but I insisted I needed to be in a warm climate. My personal thoughts are that my fans will understand. That is very important to me. I just could not face myself any more after seeing myself in the mirror and that is where Larry Geller came in. He asked if he could write a book, and I gave him my blessing. "If I Can Dream" is the title and I like his book. He had filled my head with spiritual thoughts and made me believe we could pull this off. If I had stayed longer I think I would have been booed off the stage. That is why I chose the date 8-16-77. Do you know how many famous people passed away on that date? The great Robert Johnson died on 8-16 and he was born in 1935! Babe Ruth, and Bela Lugosi and many others. I must say I was very nervous that day 8-16. But it had to be done before I went on the road where I would not have been able to pull it off. Did you know there are secret compartments in Graceland that very few people know about! A few like Vester would joke about my being alive but no one took him serious. Many of my friends would ask if I were still alive and they have their doubts but as it was I might have died broke and just a shell of myself. I was given an injection that looked like I was dead but the people closest to me knew better. Believe me I had my doubts that this could be pulled off. But it did and I became Jesse, just a poor white southern boy who didn't sing a lick of anything. I feel bad my Daddy wasn't allowed to know but it just couldn't be done. I better go now and collect my thoughts to tell you the rest next time. - The Truth About Elvis Aron Presley In His Own Words. (2001). Elvis Presley changed and talks about his past, but he has his fans in his mind....As you listen to Pastor Bob Joyce (Elvis) in this video when you go to 10:15 he hints about his life before! Interesting isn't it? Here are the words that he says (go to 10:15 in the video): "There is something about this man, that is so appealing to me. That I am not going to concern ... I'm not going to concern myself with what I was and what I had before. Because Jesus makes a difference in my life. There is something about Jesus that causes me not to even be so concerned about my life that I had before. Or my problems or whatever it is that I had in life. Suddenly things have changed, my mind has changed, my affections, my ah ... interests has changed. I'm not interested in how many fish I can catch today. I'm interested to see what Jesus is going to do next. Can you imagine walking with Jesus everywhere you went. Listen what I am telling you this morning is reality." Pastor bob joice is a joke. It would be VERY EASY to recognize Elvis EVEN if he had plastic surgery. The eyes would be EASILY recognized. That so called pastor has completely different eyes. The people that can’t tell the difference have disconnected part in their brain where recognition works. Or are crazy.

Bob Joyce has been Bob Joyce (43 years) longer than he was Elvis (42 years). He had been able to stay well-hidden until 2011 when he sang American Trilogy in Denton, Arkansas. Did Bob sing the song on purpose, or did he slip up? Over the past 43 years, how many people do you think have asked Bob if he is Elvis? Do you believe that if someone went up and ask him if he was Elvis, that he would admit it? Do you think that someone could show up at his house and get Bob Joyce to acknowledge that he is Elvis? Of course not! If he were to admit it, his life as he has known for the past 43 years would be over. Every camera crew in the world would be in Benton, Arkansas, within hours. Elvis was the most famous person on earth! Why would he want to give up his current life to go back to the old life? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lti8_Qv0Hws.html
