Umm actually independence just means you don't associate with either of the major parties. There is a wide variety of what you can "believe" as an independent. I think it's important to note that Bernie Sanders has never once vocalized support for this kind of behavior, and in fact, when asked, he actively spoke against it. Donald Trump on the other hand has actively asked his supporters to protest Bernie Sanders rallies. Personally, I disagree with his reasons for protesting and his methodology, however, I stand by his constitutional right to nonviolent protest, and the person who hit him was in the wrong. There is virtually never a justification for violence, except in self defense, and an imposition toward violence in the face of opposition shows weakness not strength.

Protestors have the right to hold signs and speak their mind (even if we disagree with them or think it's racist/sexist). It's called free speech. Also the Donald trump rally breakdown was the result of protestors and supporters, not just one or the other.
