In this video/podcast, I had the privilege of interviewing Mike Gendron whom God saved out of Roman Catholicism. Mike discusses the importance of the Protestant Reformation and what it accomplished. He also discusses some of the heresies of Roman Catholicism and names names of those in the evangelical world giving Roman Catholicism theological cover.

Let’s not forget that the thief on the cross beside Jesus was saved because he confessed that he was a sinner and he ask Christ to forgive him. No baptism, no works, only grace. Evidence came from his mouth and God knows his heart. Jesus said “Truly i say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.” Jesus was not wrong.

My beloved wife of 30 years is a member of Roman Catholic Church (RCC) I was out of obedience with the Lord for decades, and I used to go with her at times, but several years ago I repented and came back to Christ. I cannot go back into the RCC for mass now that I know they symbolically crucify Jesus again in the eucharist(the abra cadabra latin they say), and raise the piece of wafer. I was born and raised in a family with a Catholic Mother. I could never find God in The Catholic Church. I looked for years too. On top of that, my Catholic Mother was an evil abusive and neglectful parent. There was no love in her heart for me. I left the church at the age of 18. My mother informed me that I was going to hell for leaving the Catholic Church. I knew in my heart of hearts that once Jesus was in my heart and life, I had what I needed, the truth.

Great discussion! I've read a book by James G. McCarthy called "The Gospel According to Rome" published in 1995. Purchased through The Berean Call (Dave Hunt & T. A. McMahon, who was raised in the Roman Catholicism). Roman Catholicism kept me away from hearing and listening to the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. Our family was Jewish and Roman Catholics would call us "Christ killers" for many years. I was witnessed to by a born again Gentile (she was a member of a Presbyterian Church). She had studied all about Judaism and why the Jews reject Christ. She said RCs were not Christians, which was a shock to me. I identified Roman Catholicism as Christianity. Praise God, He brought me out of Judaism (not my ethnicity as a Jew) and I was born again in March, 1974.

I try very hard to follow the Catholic teachings & tradition but I always felt emptiness spirituality after mass was over. Then a Christian Missionary from Mexico came to visit his family, my neighbor in Texas , they invited me to a cookout. After the meal, he asks me if I have put my faith & trust in Jesus Christ as my Savior!? I said, No, how do I go about it? He turned to John 3:16 & Romans 5:8, where it says that God love me that he gave his only begotten Son Jesus Christ. Size and ceremony.. works righteousness, I understand that systems mechanisms. It's a curious thing.. as a child raised in CC I never hated the RCC. I saw their systems as like a 20x recopied faded photograph. No real substance.. But reading the Bible on my own as a young man I knew I needed to be saved.. The answer is the Bible it seems as I discovered. Which is why I understand they forbade people reading it for so long. Then as time goes by you get more demanding as to why they do anything they do. One by one the man made systems and Heresies evaporate. Difficult to discuss with family that are RC about this.

@@billbrasky12 You say the answer is in the Bible. Funny. Martin Luther said that mass is important. Reformed Baptists like James White reject this claim and say that it is a false doctrine. Does this mean that Martin Luther was not a "real Christian" or "real Protestant"? It is schism after schism within Protestantism which is why I left it in the first place. Look at the works of the Lutheran theologian Dr. Jordan B Cooper. Luther wrote about the admiration of the eucharist which Reformed Baptists say is a "false gospel". Heck, even Presbyterians and Reformed Baptists disagree on Baptism yet the NT talks about the strengths of Baptism. Clearly, just reading from the Bible is not producing unity.

I was raised Roman Catholic. When I read the Bible and listened to Bible based teachings. I was amazed to learn from the Bible that Mary was to be honored as a faithful servant to the Lord Jesus Christ, and not worshiped as the mother of God which is not true. She was the earthly mother of God, not to be worshiped. There is only one God the Father, and I was shocked to learn that I need no earthly man to ask for forgiveness of my sins, just the Savior of the world who takes away all the sins of the world. The list goes on. I now know Jesus, and I have a deep loving relationship with God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Thank you for having the courage to post this. I pray it be in truth and a deep love as Christ has shown us, led by the Holy Spirit. Amen

I get into discussions with Catholics a lot on X, and they inevitably, to a man, will eventually say that Scripture is not enough, that we “MUST” take church history into account. When it reaches that point, we no longer have a common foundation in the Word. They will agree with II Timothy 3:16, that the Word of God is inspired, or God-breathed. But then they tend to ignore verse 17, that states the man of God will be complete, THOROUGHLY equipped for every good work. When I say that the Word of God is sufficient for ALL doctrine and nothing should be added to it, that’s when they vigorously disagree. They can’t see that the RCC not only adds to Scripture, but their doctrines and traditions contradict it! Thank you for this video, and especially for the Bible verses to use. God bless!

Some facts about Mary to tell your Catholic friends. Mary was so important the apostles when writing the New Testament that she was only mentioned once after the Gospels, Acts 1:14. Jesus was mentioned 335 times by name after the Gospels. Mary was only mentioned once in the Bible in a context where she may not have been present. Every other place in the Bible she was directly present and her actions were recorded. Jesus however is constantly talked about in a transcendent manner when he is not around. Here's that verse. Luke 11:27-28 - "As he said these things, a woman in the crowd raised her voice and said to him, “Blessed is the womb that bore you, and the breasts at which you nursed!” But he said, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and keep it!”

That’s what I always thought too when I talked to Catholic friends-Mary is hardly mentioned in the Bible so why is she elevated to such a high place??
@LaMammaDiElvis
@LaMammaDiElvis 2 года назад
Exactly...when I started to read the Bible, I thought...where on earth is Mary? So, I did a search to see where her name appears in the Bible only to find that she is, in fact, hardly mentioned. The Catholic system took the few times that Mary was mentioned and turned her into a deity, giving her almost all the same attributes of our Lord. From being born without sin right to ascending to heaven. And giving her the most blasphemous titles of Mediatrix and Co-redeemer. When I approach my Catholic relatives and friends with the realities of Mary, they always respond with "we don't worship Mary, that would be blasphemous, we venerate her"; we only worship Jesus. It means the same thing. A synonym for venerate is worship. It doesn't matter which scripture passage I've shown Catholics, such as Luke 11:7-28 which should, once and for all, put the whole Mary worship to rest, but it doesn't. Their response is: "It simply means that Mary is blessed not only for bearing the flesh of Christ, but most of all because she heard the word of God and obeyed it." So when Jesus says "those" he really only means one person...Mary...more lies. The "Mary" that they worship is, in actuality, a demon or demons. Mary is in heaven with our Lord, she does not hear prayers, she does not answer prayers, she does not sit at the right hand of Jesus...all lies. I pray daily for Catholics as well as all unbelievers. John MacArthur has a great 4-Part Video Series on RU-vid on "Mary". It's great.
@brianhale3678
@brianhale3678 2 года назад
@@LaMammaDiElvis Thanks for your reply. You're right, Catholic teachings breaks down once you begin to have a real relationship with the Bible. My favorite method of dealing with Catholics about Mary is a two-step process. Step 1. I ask them a question. If you don't worship Mary then what is it that she does for you, why is Mary important? They respond with the false doctrine that we need we pray to Mary for grace and help in our times of need. Catholics are taught that Jesus is too holy to approach. So they must go to his merciful mother instead. Step 2. Then I simply follow up with Hebrews chapter 4. God told us to go to his throne for grace in times of need. Some of the truly brainwashed Catholics will then claim that Mary is Jesus's throne. Hebrews 4:14-16 ESV - "Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need." Mary called the baby in her womb "my savior" in Luke chapter 1. Mary said that she needed a savior. She wasn't sinless.

When Fish Catch the Fisherman A. W. Tozer History shows clearly enough that true spirituality has never at any time been the possession of the masses. In any given period since the fall of the human race, only a few persons ever discerned the right way or walked in God's law. God's truth has never been popular. Wherever Christianity becomes popular, it is not on its way to die--it has already died. Popular Judaism slew the prophets and crucified Christ. Popular Christianity killed the Reformers, jailed the Quakers and drove John Wesley into the streets. When it comes to religion, the crowds are always wrong. At any time there are a few who see, and the rest are blinded. To stand by the truth of God against the current religious vogue is always unpopular and may be downright dangerous. The historic church, while she was a hated minority group, had a moral power that made her terrible to evil and invincible before her foes. When the Roman masses, without change of heart, were made Christian by baptism, Christianity gained popularity and lost her spiritual glow. From there she went on to adopt the ways of Rome and to follow her pagan religions. The fish caught the fisherman, and what started out to be the conversion of Rome became finally the conversion of the church. From that ignominious captivity, the church has never been fully delivered.

It's this kind of non critical thinking that pulled from a small baptist church in to the Catholic Church. This man's understanding of doctrine, of history, of scripture is so poor it's like listening to a mormon. For example, he pulls 1 John 5:13 out of context to serve the false doctrine of one saved always saved. It says ,"YOU CAN KNOW" and he just takes that to mean know the way he knows. The bible never once teaches a positive feeling is your assurance of faith. This is identical to Mormons giving witness to their prophet. What does saint John actually say? Our love is how we know. And our love is shown by our works. Between low church protestants and Catholics only Catholics are able to know if they are saved. How? By discerning if you are in a state of grace. Between mortal and venial sin, clearly taught in 1 John 5. If you are in a state of venial sin and die you go to purgatory. What do low church protestants have? A moment in the past they can scrutinize endlessly and never actually know. I mean, how many times have you questioned your own salvation? How many more times will it happen? How many people thought they were saved and weren't ? The problems here are really multitudinous. I think Justin Peters should really step up his approach instead of passing off such poor understanding as compatible with the "reformers".

@@JustinPetersMin At 18:50 there's a talk about a "gnawing doubt" the interviewee just didn't know what it was. That is a feeling of unease. The protestant gospel is replacing a feeling of unease with a feeling of ease. One feeling for another. There is absolutely no other way protestant salvation, at least Calvinist-baptist salvation, could be approached. You are saved(maybe/maybe not) and every moment after that subjective introspection can endlessly dissect the moment . With no visible evidence to prove one way or another. By such a system it is difficult to know if others are saved. It is impossible to know if we ourselves are saved.

If I weren't Catholic, I'd look for the Church that the world despises, for the world despised Jesus, and he would be there. - Fulton Sheen Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you; he who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him. As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so he who eats me will live because of me.". Things seemed to be going pretty well. That is until Jesus said “For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He that eateth my flesh and drinketh my blood,dwelleth in me, and I in him.” This was too much for many of his disciples and “From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.” Jesus turns to the 12 and asks, “Will ye also go away? Vs 61, Jesus did not back down, for He said, "Does this offend you?" it offends protestants. They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.😎😎 Jn 20:21, "As the Father has sent Me, I also send you." Jn 17:18, "Even as thou hast sent Me into the world, so I have sent them into the world." Jn 17:22-23, "And the glory that thou hast given Me, I have given to Matt. 28, 18-20: And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye, therefore. and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. Jesus says to the crowd, "He who believes and is baptized will be saved." But in reference to the same people, Jesus immediately follows with "He who does not believe will be condemned." This demonstrates that one can be baptized and still not be a believer. This disproves the Protestant argument that one must be a believer to be baptized. There is nothing in the Bible about a "believer's baptism." "Accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior," or "Ask Jesus into your heart" isn't the biblical answer. It’s important to be saved from hell, damnation, and the stain of original sin, but what are we saved for? We are saved for union with Christ. Our salvation began when we were born again through baptism and God’s own Divine Life was restored in our souls, making us like Adam and Eve were in the Garden before the Original (first) Sin. As we go through life, we are united with Christ through the Sacraments he left as gifts for us, especially through Penance (forgiveness of our sins committed since Baptism) and the Eucharist (partaking of God’s own Life, His own Divine Nature, 2 Peter 1:4) - until that day when we are truly united with Him in heaven. Scripture teaches that one’s final salvation depends on the state of the soul at death. As Jesus himself tells us, "He who endures to the end will be saved" (Matt. 24:13; cf. 25:31-46). One who dies in the state of friendship with God (the state of grace) will go to heaven. The one who dies in a state of rebellion against God (the state of mortal sin) will go to hell. (For the teaching on venial (non-deadly) and mortal (deadly) sins, see 1 John 5:16-17) What I must do to be saved: *I must be baptized with water and the Spirit. Mark 16:16, John 3:3-5, Titus 3:5, I Peter 3:20-21. (Exceptions: [1] If I desire Baptism but die before I can be baptized with water and the Spirit, God accepts my desire to be baptized, and [2] If I am killed (martyred) because of my faith, but I have not had the opportunity to be baptized, God accepts my death as my baptism, called the Baptism of Blood). * I must do the will of God the Father. Matthew 7:21 * I must keep the Commandments of God. Matthew 5:19-20, Matthew 7:21, Matthew 19:17, 1 Timothy 6:14, and others. * I must accept the Cross (suffering). Matthew 10:38, Matthew 16:24-25, Mark 8:34, Luke 9:23, Luke 14:27. Phil 1:29, and others. * I must be a member of God's true church. Acts 2:46-47. * I must confess my sins. James 5:16, I John 1:9, John 20:19-23 * I must heed the words of St. Peter, the first Pope. Acts 11:13-14, Acts 15:7. * I must eat the flesh and drink the blood of Jesus Christ. John 6:51-58, I Corinthians 10:16-17, 11:23-30. * I must do unto others as I would have them do unto me and love my neighbor as myself. I must feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, clothe the naked, visit the sick and those in prison or give other aid to those in need. Luke 10:33 ff, Mt 25:31-46. "Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are very pleasing to God" Hebrews 13:16. Good works don’t save us, but we will be judged by them. *I must strive to be holy. "Strive for peace with everyone and for that holiness without which no one will see the Lord." Hebrews 12:14 *I must endure (persevere) to the end. Matthew 10:22, Matthew 24:13, Mark 13:13. And ... ? What else must I do? Catechism #432 The name "Jesus" signifies that the very name of God is present in the person of his Son, made man for the universal and definitive redemption from sins. It is the divine name that alone brings salvation, and henceforth all can invoke his name, for Jesus united himself to all men through his Incarnation, so that "there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."

She loves them so much. Meanwhile, they both come from the pits of hell. So I continue to pray as always to our heavenly Father in the name of Jesus that their eyes will be open very soon. I was born and baptised into a catholic family. I left aged 16 being forced to go to church with my mother till that age. I asked the local priest a few questions and I had 2 responses from him that shocked me and made me very upset that I’ve struggled my whole life since. He said unless I wanted to become a nun it wasn’t any of my business to be asking any kind of questions about God or Jesus, and the other was who did I think I was just wanting to question him when he wasn’t even on duty. And basically told to run along. I’m now just turned 50 and I constantly question everything, I’m very scared to die as I don’t want to go to hell forever. I’ve asked for forgiveness many many times but I feel bad as I feel like my heart is a block of ice and I want to keep the love in my heart for Jesus but I feel guilty for not accepting his forgiveness and I keep messing up. I have just watched this video and it has came at a perfect time. I’ve never been able to broach the subject with my mam about Jesus as I’ve never knew what to say. Especially with not knowing where I am at myself. Im such a hypocrite I need help and don’t know what to do or say even where to go my self. I desperately want to read my Bible so much and to understand it and be able to give the good news to others. I’m sorry I’m rambling but the Catholic Church really makes me cringe. Romans 10:9-10 says: "If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved." I don't think that questioning everything is a sin. Ephesians 1:13-14 says: "When you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own[d] by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago. The Spirit is God’s guarantee that he will give us the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify him." In Matthew 5:4, Jesus says: "God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted." This isn't talking about sadness, but about mourning our fallen state before God. If you don't might me asking, what were the questions that the priest found so offensive?

Also the second question I wanted to know was what happens when you die? I know he was furious with me and then that’s when he said I didn’t need to know that stuff I just had to go to church every Sunday and follow them and forget all the other nonsense I’ve been told. @@craftingmamaberne3776 It seems to me like you viewed God as a distant tyrant rather than a perfect loving father, a bleeding saviour and a close and comforting holy spirit living within you. It also seems to me that you might have viewed God as untrustworthy, rather than strong, loving and trustworthy. The Bible says that God is slow to anger and abounding in love. It seems the priest might also have had a warped view of God to find those questions threatening. God is big enough and strong enough to handle any doubts we might have about him. Jesus said: I am the truth. No one comes to the father (God) except through me. I think the first part is awesome. If you're searching for truth, it leads to one place. The problems start when people stop searching for truth. God is many different names in the Bible. It is more important who he is rather than what he is called. People have different opinions on what happens after we die. The important thing is to accept Jesus as your saviour and follow him. If you do that, the Bible says that nothing can separate us from the love of God. So no matter what happens after we die, we are not separated from the love of God.

Because Jesus is *fully* God and Man, he is God. Because Mary gave birth to Jesus, she gave birth to God. Not God in His Divine Essence, but in the flesh. In the first place amongst these there are the Muslims, who, professing to hold the faith of Abraham, along with us adore the one and merciful God* , who on the last day will judge mankind. Nor is God far distant from those who in shadows and images seek the unknown God, for it is He who gives to all men life and breath and all things, and as Saviour wills that all men be saved. *Those also can attain to salvation who through no fault of their own do not know the Gospel of Christ or His Church, yet sincerely seek God and moved by grace strive by their deeds to do His will as it is known to them through the dictates of conscience. Nor does Divine Providence deny the helps necessary for salvation to those who, without blame on their part, have not yet arrived at an explicit knowledge of God and with His grace strive to live a good life* . In the first place amongst these there are the Muslims, who, professing to hold the faith of Abraham, along with us adore the one and merciful God" It says they profess to hold to the faith of Abraham, and ALONG WITH US adore the one and merciful God. So it doesn't say that they only "PROFESS to worship the one true God,". This is something one of your apologists, acting as his own Pope, invented and promulgated to his minions like you. Otherwise, why do Paul VI, John Paul II, Bishop Schneider and Peter Kreeft disagree with you and teach that Muslims worship the *same* God? LOLOLOLOL 🤣 *Pope Paul VI* : 3. *The Church regards with esteem also the Moslems. They adore the one God* , living and subsisting in Himself; merciful and all- powerful, the Creator of heaven and earth,(5) who has spoken to men; they take pains to submit wholeheartedly to even His inscrutable decrees, just as Abraham, with whom the faith of Islam takes pleasure in linking itself, submitted to God. DECLARATION ON THE RELATION OF THE CHURCH TO NON-CHRISTIAN RELIGIONS NOSTRA AETATE PROCLAIMED BY HIS HOLINESS POPE PAUL VI ON OCTOBER 28, 1965 *Pope John Paul II* :We Christians joyfully recognize the religious values we have in common with Islam. Today I would like to repeat what *I said to young Muslims some years ago in Casablanca: “We believe in the same God* , the one God, the living God, the God who created the world and brings his creatures to their perfection” (Insegnamenti, VIII/2, [1985], p. 497). John Paul II, address at the General Audience, May 5, 1999 *Bishop Athanasius Schneider* : In some way, we can accept the affirmation of Lumen Gentium, but then we must give a long explanation. Of course, when a person sincerely adores God the Creator - as I assume the majority of simple Muslim people do - they adore God with a natural act of worship, based on the knowledge of God, the Creator. Every non-Christian, every non-baptized person, including a Muslim, can adore God on the level of the natural knowledge of the existence of God. *They adore in a natural act of adoration of the same God* , whom we adore in a supernatural act and with supernatural faith in the Holy Trinity. But these are two essentially different acts of adoration: the one is an act of natural knowledge and the other is an act of supernatural faith. The acts of adoration, and the acts of knowing on which they are based, are substantially different, *though the object is the same in that it is the same God* . The affirmation of the Second Vatican Council should have been written more precisely, in order to avoid misunderstandings. Perhaps it could be formulated in this way: ‘Muslims adore God in an act of natural worship, and thus in a substantially different way than we Catholics do, since we adore God with supernatural faith.’ Schneider, Bishop Athanasius, and Montagna, Diane. Christus Vincit: Christ's Triumph Over the Darkness of the Age. United States, Angelico Press, 2019, Pg 87-88 *Peter Kreeft* : Many Christians, both Protestant and Catholic, do not believe what the Church says about Islam (for example, in Vatican Il and in the new Catechism): that Allah is not another God, that *we worship the same God* . Once, after debating the existence of God with an atheist and having spent a good deal of time explicating and defending the divine attributes, I was approached by a Muslim from the audience, who said to me, "It does my heart good to hear such good Islamic orthodoxy. You are a Muslim, aren't you?" He could not believe I was a Christian, because, he said, "You truly know Allah." Apparently he had thought (contrary to the Qur'an) that Christians worshipped a different God. These misunderstandings had better be cleared up, or great battlefield confusion between friend and foe will result. Ecumenical Jihad, Ecumenism and the Culture War, Ignatius Press, 1996, Pg 30

When the Lord Jesus Christ told His disciples that the bread was His body and the wine was His blood, it was done in the context of a Passover dinner, where all the parts of the meal were highly symbolic (unleavened bread to represent the hasty nature of their exodus, bitter herbs to represent oppression in Egypt, etc). In the same way, the bread represents the body of Christ being broken for us and the wine represents His blood poured out for us. Keep in mind, it was first century Jews that our Lord was speaking to-ceremonial cleanliness laws were ingrained in their minds, so much so that the apostles prescribed that even the gentiles, though they are not under the law, should not consume blood (along with three other commandments). Remember also when the Lord told Peter to kill an animal on the sheet and eat it? Peter said that he has never eaten anything unclean before. Surely if the disciples knew that Jesus meant that the bread and wine were literally His body and blood, they would’ve said something about it! But it’s safe to assume that they too understood that the Lord was speaking figuratively (and He is no stranger to parables and metaphors).

They deny that they practice a different gospel. They deny even the points that came out to of the Council of Trent. They claim that they are the original church of the Apostles and believe that all other religions are false because of this. Even on line it’s a nightmare trying to convince them because they don’t even know what the Catholic Church believes because it hasn’t filtered down to them at the local level. They claim to have never even heard of indulgences. I don’t know what to do with this. It’s like talking to Buddhist about Islam. They have no idea, other than the Catholic Church, what they believe in.

Im not a theologian but off of the basic catholic knowledge I know I knew it wasn’t reported accurately. Trust me I watched the whole thing. How can he say if a plan goes down I’m not assured I will be saved. A Catholic that knows his faith will know how to respond. This man never knew his faith. You guys have lost credibility to me. Let's put your "true church" to the test shall we? Do you believe that the God you worship is the same deity as the one that Muslims worship? Do you believe a good Muslim can be saved by being true to their conscience? *But the plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator. (Vatican II, Lumen Gentium Para 16)

I’m praying for you all to remove the scales from your eyes regarding the Truth. Justin, have you studied the early Church and early Church fathers writings who preached the gospel shortly after Christ’s death and resurrection? Did the Christian church start in the 1500’s after the “reformation”? Were the 7 books of the deuterocanonical OT not considered scripture until man made authority said they weren’t? Did Jesus and the Apostles not reference those writings in the NT? You are deceived my friend. The two “doctrines” Protestants hold are “sola scriptura” and “sola fide” are NOT found in scripture! I ask you to show me where the Bible explicitly says that? It does not exist. If you take the position that it is implied then you admit that any doctrine can be implicitly harvested from scripture. Martin Luther actually modified the holy scripture to add the word “faith alone”. This is an undisputed historical fact. I choose to put my trust in the teachings and traditions of the early Christian Church which was founded shortly after the death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ taught by those who were instructed by the Apostles. Not on the man made twisted theology of a man 1500 years removed from actual communion with Christ.

"Justin, have you studied the early Church and early Church fathers writings" So too, has Justin studied his bible's table of contents? Does he know: - the table of contents, is not found in scripture? (Sola Scriptura fails right then and there) - from where he received that the New Testament is 27 writings, no more, no less, out of 300+ early Christian writings? - ALL those who decide his New Testament, were 4th c Catholic Bishops? - ALL those who decided, believed that through their words of consecration, the Bread and Wine was transformed into the Resurrected Body and blood of Christ, a means for receiving HIS Grace? - Prior to the Liturgy of the Eucharist, those early Christians celebrated the Liturgy of the Word, and that it is during this Liturgy that the Written Word of God was read out loud, the very bible that he uses (including 7 inspired books not in his Old Testament)? Justin likely doesn't know. He likely never heard nor learned any of this while getting his degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

I’m a Christian and journalism major who took art history as my minor so in college, we took a trip to Italy to tour the country and look at art. We visited many churches and the “highlight” of the trip was supposed to be Pompeii and the Vatican. (Ironically two of the places filled with the most evil in Italy 🤦🏼‍♀️). The day we went to the Vatican, all of my classmates were super excited but I was less enthusiastic as a Christian who by that point was more than burnt out on all of the mother Mary statues, etc that we’d already seen at the dozens of Catholic churches we had visited. I tried to look at the day as a trip to a historical place in order to get my enthusiasm up. We walked around outside taking photos by the columns for a while before we went inside. The moment we stepped inside to St. Peter’s Basilica, I took a look around at the absolutely over the top opulence and saw the large, black Peter’s Baldachin, I began to feel physically ill. I felt mild nausea, felt clammy and just didn’t feel good. I thought maybe I had just been standing too long. The more we walked around and the more statues (not of Jesus) and the more grotesquely ostentatious decor we saw, I felt more ill and more ill. The whole place felt evil to me - it smelled evil and it looked evil. I can’t explain the feeling but it was awful. We then went in to see the Sistine Chapel and by this point I felt so weak and sick I thought I was going to faint. After our group got out of the Sistine Chapel, I left the group to go sit down for a few minutes. I was beyond ready to go. Finally, a good bit of time later, our group began to make our way out of the walls of the Vatican (yes, they have a border wall), I began to feel better. By the time we got to our tour bus to head back to the hotel, I felt completely fine - totally better! The moment we walked back into our hotel room, I sat on my bed and prayed for repentance for visiting a place like the Vatican. I can count on one hand the times in my life I’ve walked in somewhere and felt the presence of evil and at the Vatican, I felt it, I smelled it, I saw it and it was AWFUL. I never want to feel it again! 🙏🏻
