It's been 60 years for me. It's never too late to wake up. I'm proud of you hun for turning it in to a positive wake up. Many blame God and turn away from him. The organization is not God and so you can maintain your relationship with God without the org.
@God is Love obviously you have not watched the videos of the Australian hearings on child abuse. After you watch those, you tell me whose bringing reproach on Jehovah's name. Judging other humans is too big a job, you should leave that up to Jehovah and his Jesus and whoever they appoint to judge. It won't be elders who protect the child abusers and punish the victims, who are told not to tell anyone about their abuse. If they talk about it, they will be the ones disfellowshipped, not the abuser.
I believe they keep the witnesses so busy they are disconnected from their authentic selves, troubled by doctrine they know does not make sense and hoping that the end comes soon. I truly feel so sorry for them.

@God is Love Here is where you are wrong. People who leave the org. Are not leaving God. They are leaving the governing body which has nothing to do with God. I have left the governing body and my heart is full of love for Jehovah. Now instead of constant harping on repetitive scriptures, and trying to get new members for the governing body, and tying up my whole life with unloving people that are continuously finding fault if you don't say or do things exactly as the gb says to do them ... well, let's just say I have a huge burden lifted off me. I find that it is easy to love everyone regardless of their religion as Paul told us to do. Now that I recognize that I don't have to judge people, I can let God do the judging, I am so free. When you ealk into the kingdom hall, do you feel the warmth of love or are you trying to do eberything right. What do you think when someone goes in the back room with the elders? Do you think they are calling someone back there to praise them and tell them to keep up the good work? Not hardly, everyone watches who goes back there to see who is in trouble. And then the gossip starts. Especially the elders wives. All the congregations are the same. Watch the Australian videos on child abuse. One of the governing body members being questioned about whether the witnesses thought they were the one true religion, said that it would be presumptuous to think so. I don't pity those who have left the gb, I rejoice with them. I'm content to wait on Jehovah while I have taken myself out of that harmful situation. It took me 60 years to figure it out. Take down that wall (governing body) and draw close to jehovah.
@God is Love I wonder that you can't see. You know this stuff and yet you defend. The org has told us for many many years that this kind of abuse can't happen In the org because the elders are vigilant over the flock. And yet when an abused person comes forward the elders tell that person there is nothing they can do because of the 2 witness rule. If another person comes forward to accuse that brother, the elders will not do anything because of the 2 witness. In fact, they have their two witnesses but they will not volunteer that they do. So, the victims go home, feeling betrayed and alone. They are told not to talk to others about their abuse or the brothers will have to take action, inevitably disfellowshipping the victim. The elders will stress that if they talk about it, they will bring reproach on Jehovah's name. So the victim is fearful of being disfellowshipped if they go to the police.

I still don't get involved with politics but it's just another major stresser when all the news is about the laws he's breaking. Just take your time figuring out what path you want to take after leaving the org. Some people hate God after and I think that is sad. The bible is God's word and it is filled with comforting verses. Some things you will keep and some things you won't. It has been amazing to me how much we can agree upon with other religions. Especially the theme of the bible ... The sin .. When someone asks me if I believe in something particular .. like being born again.. I ask them what they mean by being born again. They almost always say, believing in the ransom and believing that the ransom is the only way to have salvation. Then I can truthfully say yes, I just don't call it what you do. I have to laugh when I look back at all the times I argued with people over that, because they call it something different. I have no desire to look for truth, because I feel like I find it by opening the pages of the bible. I listen to all the (apostates) because sometimes tjey talk about things that I've never thought about. I'm careful though not to buy into the rage of some of the sites. It does no good for me personally to go to the dark side. Lol I'm just concentrating on what the bible says we should be or do. It comes down to the fact that Jesus' two laws he gave us, are both all about the love we need to have for one another. Well, I'll get off my soap box. Lol I hope you are avoiding covid. It gives me so much hope to see another sister wake up to the truth. Hope for my family to wake up. But they are all deeply indoctrinated and they get so angry and defensive if I say anything that goes against watchtower doctrine or culture. Brainwashing is very effective. Pure evil.
@God is Love all religions have some truth. I would ask you. Why do they keep trying to figure out the end times when God did not even give that date to Jesus ? Does he want the society to figure out the dates? Or does he want people to love him and trust him and stand firm while patiently waiting for the end time even if that means you will die before that time? Why does the society need to keep predicting dates? It's because a date makes people fearful that they will miss the boat. No where in the bible does it guarantee you will live to see it all happen. And yet the society keeps you hanging on with a promise that you are living at a time when you will see it all happen. We need to love Jehovah for the right reasons. The end times prediction is all centered around 1914 when the earth went whacko. Do we even know that ww1 was the big turning point? Ww2 was even worse and how do we know that we have even seen the BIG event? We should not be running ahead and trying to second guess Jehovah. We should be reading our bibles and trying to mold our lives in line with Jesus's example. How can we be all things to all people if we shun and wall ourselves off from the world? How do you show you love all people if you don't even break bread with them?
I left the organization 20 years ago ~ I was born in the organization. It wasn’t until recently that I realized it was a cult and not the truth. My father was a presiding overseer and died a faithful servant. He did not believe it was the truth but it’s all he knew.
These videos give me hope that my wife and daughter will eventually wake up one day, before it's too late. I pray for those watershed moments when a conversation comes up that shows their precious organization had no idea what they were talking about. My youngest daughter woke up, and she still needs to make a decision for the real Christ, but she is at least able to stand at the door. She just needs to open that door because the real Jesus is knocking.

I woke up at Brooklyn Bethel. When I heard the Governing Body, I was shocked how they talked. That was in the mid 90's. 2015 started with the broadcast network and the GB never changed. Now people outside Bethel are seeing the real them.
I'm a 50 y.o.ex witness, have been out for a while. I was raised in it my mother was a baptized witness my father would go occasionally, but I saw all the hypocrisy and the brainwashing first hand. They criticize other religions yet they are among the worst. I arranged my moms funeral the way she wanted, the one presiding over the funeral I had known for a long time. The day after the funeral I called to thank him. That was a year ago, he still won't call me back, haven't spoke to me since the funeral. Yet all I heard was were here for you. Just another of the long list of lies. They keep you going to meetings and studying so that you have no free time. And I question everything. They did not like that at all. The child abuse thing made me sick that when two girls told the elders they called them liars and never reported it to the law. That's sick! I could go on for a long time but I just don't want any religion that puts a woman in a less than role. Anyway, so glad she got out! Hopefully these will help people to stay clear of this so called religion.
Y'all, I appreciate you both so much.. thank you for sharing your experiences. At the end of my marriage 18 years ago.. my ex husband was baptized into JW ORG.. He became very hurtful and evil in his dealings with me.. this has been a long hard road for me. I never went to the meetings.. I was very broken.. still not completely healed from the grief. He remarried, this one is a JW.. my prayers are with them and everyone else that is struggling. Very hard indeed. But my God is alive, able and sufficient to meet all our needs. Amen 👏👍🤗❤️🙏

My first birthday was at 30 also, and it was a surprise that I was not prepared for. I still always feel awkward when people celebrate my birthday. Even though I enjoy it very much.
When she said she’s incredibly happy it made me to remember a little story I heard... one sister met other sister who was disfellowshipped and somehow they started to talk and current jw sister was soooo surprised that the other one who is no longer member is sooo happy cuz they teach that apostates are miserable and sad

Elaine - It sounds like we both left JW’s in the mid 80’s. I left because of their dismissal of me when my husband and I were going through a divorce. He had just been disfellowshipped and I asked them for spiritual help about whether to divorce. All they told me was to go home and read my Bible. I received help from the people I worked with, very contrary to what I had been taught growing up. I chose to not be associated with a fake religion, all the talk of we are a family, was untrue. I walked away from God for many years, and He found me in 2004, and wrapped me in His loving arms. I am now born again and have a personal relationship with my Lord Jesus Christ and His Father. I call on the Holy Spirit often for clarity and teaching. I really enjoyed this video, Lori has such a warm spirit. I saw the video of her baptism, which I hope she is prepared to be d’fwd, that is what happened to Ali when she chose to be baptized again. I pray that this did not create a hardship for her, it is truly a beautiful time for her.
So appreciate your story as I had been in 20 yrs had 3 Bible studies with one close to baptism when I woke up researching fall of Jerusalem and bought simple book with timeline for one student and saw no 607 and same week History channel had same topic I was floored. Then went to assembly and speaker said if Armageddon came that day only 8+ would be alive in Hawaiian Islands & people clapped. I felt like I had been slapped in the face, what a horrible thing to say. I have a non JW husband and family that were Good people and my husband had more integrity in his little finger than some of the elders I knew. So I went home and over the next couple months started researching with WT CD and the Bible and found lie and manipulative sentences and called several time to the Society asking for more clarification and why certain sentences were misleading But now they will not take your phone calls. I faded and did speak with elder and CO but was told go ahead an research but ultimately I will have to come back in alignment with whatever they teach for unity. They have left me alone and I did move to another area near by and I have had my house on do not call as I do get into the Bible so no return calls. I questioned God for a bit but know we have a creator but now I can have a spiritual conversation with my husband as he said before it was only a one way discussion. So much more spiritual and closer to God now but never will join organized religion.
My compassion for those that were to “die at Armageddon” was ultimately what caused me to leave. At the time I still believed in the JW teachings, but I didn’t care. I thought it was evil and my stubbornness made me decide that if my worldly friends and family wouldn’t make it, then neither would I. It wasn’t til about 10 years later when RU-vid caught some momentum that I learned all the lies and deceit of the organization. I’ve been out 20 years now (18 years (born in)) and still to this day I think I have some type of ptsd from the cult.
@@jmgmetal you're not the only one. I'm 45, was raised also born into that organization. I left at 13 (had a disfellowshiped dad) went back at 17 (left at 19) then again at 29 left at 31). Its so hard. I feel for ya. Hugs

I have a friendly acquaintance that sought out the JW organization & joined last year. I was quite shocked but she said it was because there were questions she had while reading the Bible and asked an old JW friend of hers.

There is nothing in your brain except what your organization taught you and even less In your spirit. You can’t think by yourself and it shows on your memorized phrases from years of repeating them. Jehovah is not even the Lord’s name and if you dare be brave look it up online. It was made up for the English and Spanish languages (Jehová), the only two languages I can understand. The Scriptures encourage the children of God to seek with the help of the Holy Spirit that is within you when you are saved. In Acts 17:10-12 the Bereans are mentioned as “more noble” because they did not believe every word that came from the messengers of the Lord but went to Scripture as the go to source of revelation and truth and it says that they believed. You can only get truth and genuineness is Scripture itself. There is not one “designated organization” on this world that will guide you to the truth of God using their books to understand the Bible. The church (ekklesia in the original Greek) which is the body of Christ is a living spiritual representation of God on Earth not the governing body as you call them. We, real Christians, have the freedom to search, seek, question and study the Bible by ourselves without being encumbered by men and false doctrines. Be a noble person as those in Berea, which is the testimony of the Word of God itself of what to do when something is taught to you. Again read those verse on Acts repeatedly one time after another in prayer and lets hope that the voice of God itself, which are the Scriptures, will bring light in the darkness of your life and that you get saved as these brave brothers and sisters did. And the last thing, thank God I was never a JW and was raised in a Bible believing church for the glory of the Lord my Savior.
@God is Love another question. Why are you reading what you consider to be apostate messaging? You know you can be disfellowshipped for that, don't you? What will happen if someone calls you an apostate? Everyone will drop you like a hot potato, even if you are just trying to turn people back to the organization. Do you dare tell the brothers what you are doing? You and I both know the answer to that. Do you have the freedom to study the scriptures and then point out any discrepancies you may find? Or is it easier to follow the governing body that claims they are the only ones with the truth?

I was at book study once and the conductor was making a point about marriage to the effect that a husband can’t leave his wife just because she can’t cook and she can’t leave her husband just because he slaps her once. He was a very big guy and he made a slapping gesture and it was just so disturbing. There is such a culture of abuse.

@God is Love - My Mother was very ill for 5 years, no one offered to shop for her, bring her meals, or clean her house! Where were they? She had faithfully attended that KH for over 20 years, helped to care for many elderly sisters. But no one was there when she needed help! I hear the same experience from many others.

I knew I wasn't gonna get baptized to the JW when I was a kid. They never could answer my questions. I ASKED them if God had a family, and my mother told me NO. I think it wasn't till I went to the Army is when I learned Jesus was the Son of God. I was so mad at my mom for not telling me.

I got the what did as you put it when I read from the bible when Jesus says you are to partake of his emblems if you are to have life, I did not word this exactly as Jesus said it but I partake of the emblems and my j w family had a stroke over this accusing me of reading from a fake bible, they are so brainwashed they never read this from the bible. Seems the g b will not share certain scriptures that causes anyone to wake upon I never understood why when Jesus said for us all to partake but the g b reject the emblems, it reminds me of a blackmass. I told my heart to follow Jesus and he said we all are to partake. my j w family began to try to start a fight, I refused to argue with the bible scriptures so I shunned them, I k ow more now then I ever did as a j w just by reading the bible and following my heart I walk with Jesus and as. Great job Lori Jane. Lovely to hear you have found Christ and understand his real worth. The same happened to me after being in for 40 years, but nothing can compare to hearing Christ's call! Funny when you talk about the elders wanting to find dirt on you and you ask: "What's the crime?" Simply put, it is because you have expressed your faith in Christ rather than your faith in the GB. Kinda reminds me of John 12:42. May our Father, his beloved son and all the holy angels continue to take care of you and your family.

Read the entire gospel of John and see how often the very son of God used his Father's name. Only once at John 6:45. Once! Ask yourself why Jesus almost never used the name Jehovah? He certainly referred to his father very frequently. And in saying that I have given you the answer. When he referenced the Creator, he used "Father" as a son would. As such, those who follow in Christ's footsteps, accept his calling to be adopted as sons and daughters do not use a Hebrew name for God given to the Israelites. As Christ, we feel much more comfortable calling him "Father" (Abba). The organization has been very hypocritical about the name Jehovah. They readily admit in the publications that Jehovah is not the correct pronunciation of the tetragrammaton. The original pronunciation was lost. If your name was Jessica, how would you like it when someone kept calling you Yannina? When faced with that issue, the organization then goes on to say the pronunciation and use of the name that is not really that important, rather it's our knowing the person behind that name. They even correctly admit that when Jesus made God's name manifest, he revealed the PERSON God is. Of course they have to admit that because Jesus almost never used the name Jehovah in his day to day speech. So... if it's not the pronunciation or repeated use of the name that is important, but rather knowing and revealing to others the PERSON who is the Father of all creation....Then why do Witnesses cite their constant use of Jehovah's name as a claim to fame as you have done? Additionally, you say I have turned my back on the Father. How do you know that? Do you know me or my beliefs? Perhaps I can share something. In Matthew 11:25-30, Jesus makes it clear we need to go to HIM, and he will reveal more of his Father to us. "At that time Jesus said in response: “I publicly praise you, FATHER, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and intellectual ones and have revealed them to babes. Yes, O Father, because to do thus came to be the way approved by you. ALL things have been delivered to me by my Father, and no one fully knows the Son but the Father, neither does anyone fully know the Father but the Son and anyone to whom the Son is willing to reveal him. Come to me, all you who are toiling and loaded down, and I will refresh you. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am mild-tempered and lowly in heart, and you will find refreshment for your souls. For my yoke is kindly and my load is light.” He even says this process is "the way approved by his Father." Those who refuse to go to Jesus have their eyes shut. So, with my going to Christ, this has enriched my appreciation, awe, respect and love for the Father. So as a surprise to me, my relationship with Christ and my heavenly Father has been so much better after rejecting the organization's teachings and following the steps outlined by CHRIST. Witnesses will not encourage you to establish a personal relationship with Jesus. Simply put, they don't know how and don't see it as important if they can skip Jesus and go right to the Father. If Jesus wanted us to go to the Father, why would he say: "Come to ME...learn from ME?" Wouldn't he have said: "Go to Jehovah...learn from Jehovah?" So in fact, if Jesus HIMSELF says go to him, learn from him, put faith in him, obey him and love him...then why do you find fault and condemn those who would repeat the son of God's own words? Certainly someone taught by Christ would see it as normal to go to him and see him as "The WAY, the TRUTH and the LIFE" and that to gain the Father, we would have to go to him FIRST. One reason I can think you responded the way you did is because of the heavy indoctrination you have been exposed to in the organization. Perhaps as with me, your entire learning process from infancy has been directed by men. Why not try just listening to Jesus' words? Really, what could be so wrong with just reading the gospels and trying to figure out what Jesus is trying to say to YOU? I will leave you with another thing: The NWT translation committee has admitted Jehovah's name was nowhere written in ANY of the original manuscripts in Greek. The only word was LORD. But because Jehovah is referred to as Lord, and Jesus is too, the problem of which Lord is being referred to arises. As such, they took it upon themselves to insert Jehovah where Christian writers were quoting the Hebrew scriptures where Jehovah's name was present. In addition, they also inserted Jehovah where it said Lord and they wanted to show it was the Father and not Jesus being referenced. That being said, read 2 Corinthians 3:12-16. In vs. 14 it says the veil that blinds you is taken away by means of CHRIST. Then it repeats the same thing in vs. 16 saying "when there is a turning to the Lord, the veil is taken away" Which Lord is being referred to? The Lord Jesus or the Lord Jehovah? Very obviously vs. 14 states this is about the Lord Jesus Christ. So why did they insert Jehovah when it is clearly referring to Christ? Keep reading on into chapter 4 and you will see that is the Lord Jesus Christ who is the source of the illumination. As Christians we don't reflect the glory of Jehovah. That is impossible for us as imperfect and insignificant humans. But we can reflect the glory of Jesus. It is the illumination of glorious good news about the CHRIST that shines, or doesn't shine through. The source of the light is Christ. Every instance in 2 Corinthians chapter 3 where it said "Lord" in the original Greek, it was speaking of Christ. The NWT committee has made the mistake and put Jehovah in vs. 16-18 where it is talking about Jesus. Sad isn't it. How could they make such a glaring mistake? Something to think about.... Was it another man or some youtuber who showed me this error? Nope. By going to Christ, he has taught me and I have learned many things, free of the indoctrination of men. What a light and wonderful thing to accept his invitation to go to HIM. I normally don't make long replies to people's comments, but I have done so this time with the hope of opening your eyes to the importance of going to CHRIST and throwing off the yoke of men who have so complicated everyone's lives with teachings which contradict what Christ said. If it is Christ's will, you will see what is so clear in the scriptures and turn to HIM and the veil will be removed. If that happens in the future, please let me know as it will be a wonderful thing to hear. I’ve been (and my wife) out of this sect for over 40 years now, and from what I’ve come to understand about ALL religions is that they’re all sect-like, in that they use guilt and fear to control their members-2 ways to identify sects... What puzzles me is why are ex jws, and others, so keen on believing in ANY god who closely monitors the every move by human creatures and is quick to condemn them if they don’t strictly abide by his standards (as interpreted by the elders/self-appointed power brokers in various religions). It’s funny there are so many people you could save from smoking, drinking, drugs, killing others, wasting themselves but because you’re told not to celebrate birthday you choose you distract people from their faith, .
