Roope is one of the most underrated guitarists ever. You should get his earlier solo-albums and listen to Stone. His own sense of the old school metal vibe interpreted in a classic, timeless manner is just crazy good.
Shitty venues indeed. When he said that and nodded towards the building he was referring to the Tempe, AZ show they played the night before. They put on a great show regardless of playing a venue that in my opinion was way to small/shitty for a band of their caliber.
