@UC7jZ3wlWhLJLvApYhtUm4Og Dear Sharath, you should know that Monastic orders (yogis) in India have been regularised long time back. Yoga (aśṭāṅga Yoga) is system follow by the Saṃkya-Kapila-s. This monastic order of monks (sādhus or yogis) is almost extinguished. Traditional Āśṭāṅga Yoga has nothing to do with physical training and anything else of what you are teaching in your Institution. You should be shameful to give to western a false image of Yoga and claim it to be traditional. You are taking advantage because your are dealing with foreigners who really don't know anything about it. I'm wondering what "paramparām" you are taking about? Kṛṣṇamācārya copied the series you are teaching now from a book taken from Mysore library. Kṛṣṇamācārya in fact was appointed as physical trainer to teach at the army. Yes the Army (those with the guns) ! This "yoga" that you and your grandfather has popularised is nothing but gymnastic training with so much Spiritual Masala (Indian flavour). What is the spirituality you are talking? For a monthly self-practice class (which may be less about an hour) your family institution charges 34,700 rupees per person each month; which is more then the double of an indian officer 's salary who works 8-10 hour per day. Your family owns all the money and you are controlling all your pupils grating a permission for teaching what they have learn only by forcing them to come every year to the institute for practice. Hi Mark, you must have read the book , Yoga body which is a big farce. So his claim is that T Krishnamacharya copied physical yoga from western gymnastics . Do you know that Kasargod , Kozhikode parts of Kerala are not far from Mysore. Kerala is where Kalaripayattu was practised. It has so many routines , why will a yoga master not take postures from Kalari which has been around for hundreds , if not thousand years ?
How dare you spread lies against the great Yogi Thirumalai krishnamacharya!!! He had many siddhis through the power of yoga and had no agenda except to revive the dying tradition of yoga.......He was a man of vairagya(dispassion) and did not accumulate wealth......How dare you associate him with copying??
And for your kind information, Krishnamacarya's educational qualifications in sankrit gave him the eligibility to move to a very prestigious position and he declined them several times......only to revive yoga!!! Teaching Yoga was not even profitable those days and this man fought gripping poverty ,struggled a lot and revived yoga!!!! I don't really know much about Sharath jois .......But if someone dares to disrespect Krishnamacharya......I won't remain silent......Reply me ,if you still think you are right...
