Interview with Sully Erna (Godsmack) 

21 years since last visit. Wow if I go to Camden at Halloween it'll be my first ever. Better late than never. I heard the previous live performances here on RU-vid. Definitely thirsty for the experience.

May be maybe not. I heard the music. It definitely feels final to Sully. He was more concerned about his family and his band and thanking and apologizing for what the last 25 years did to his life than anything else. He can't top his previous music and he doesn't want to. He said it himself. People want to hear Whatever, Awake, Serenity, Voodoo. I stand alone. They will also love 1000 horsepower, Crying like a bitch, legends rise, unforgettable, and so many others so why waste more precious years away from family and friends trying to outdo your brand. Doesn't make sense. He's happy. He thought 3 years ago he could keep writing more albums but he realized it's not a good idea and he has more things he needs to do than touring like be a dad to Skylar.

don't insult them like that!! Godsmack is pure badass hard rock.

Their last real record for me was Faceless. After that, they lost their aggressive side and started getting softer. Sully lost that gravelly tone, that really low growl and the angry midrange. I guess it was hurting his voice to sing that way.

@@PhillipAntoneOMara Indeed but at least he can do that in studio. He is the one behind this style and sound since When Legends Rise not because of his voice downfall and the main reason. In terms of their last heaviness album, although I know Faceless was brutal, however I think I won't be wrong if I say IV and Oracle were heavy enough that hardcore fans could easy enjoy. 1000hp on the other hand was cursory and wasn't really well-constructed comparing to previous records. So I better edit my first comment that Godsmack should have been disbanded after The Oracle.

Rather have new music than no new music at all because even if he says this albums will be best one they heard thousands of band say that and in reality it does even come close to albums that made them popular mindset should be to not top the old albums should add something new to discography honest think last good full album was 1000hp I can understand taking a break of writing shouldn’t say no new music like come on

@@glenwolsky5509 I worked stage crew one time in my life and it was for godsmack. None of them were nice at all. Especially Sully. He was mad about everything and trying to kick holes in the stage
