On Episode #05 of Sweetwater’s Plugged In podcast, Mitch is joined by none other than Warren Huart, the prolific industry force who wears numerous hats, including producer, recording engineer, mixing engineer, composer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. His work has made him a multi-platinum producer whose work throughout the decades transcends lines of genre and style, in addition to scoring several major Hollywood, film, and television projects. To put it mildly, Warren knows quite a bit about recording, and he was joined by Sweetwater’s studio scholar, Mitch Gallagher, during a recent excursion to Sweetwater Studios. Dive in with Warren and Mitch for a multifaceted discussion on miking techniques, the nuances of recording guitars, how to record amps in high-end studios, and more. Perhaps most intriguing, however, is the subject of amp modeling. What does it mean for the modern studio, the history of recording techniques, and the evolution of sound? Mitch and Warren cover all this and more on this episode of Plugged In!

The Tone Master amps are phenomenal. I did a gig last year that had them as backline, and paired with my drive pedals of choice, it sounded fantastic!

Mikko 2 from ML soundlabs seem to have a solution to the monotony introduced by set and forget IRs. You can literally tweak it like you’re almost micing a cab from scratch.

Definitely a player's prerogative - but there are MANY touring guitarists that have switched over SIMPLY because on a large scale tour you often have to contend with: Fly Dates, Backline struggles, maintenance issues, irregular power, and even the move to lower and lower stage volume (amps either baffled or moved COMPLETELY off stage) - so they make a lot of sense for SOME situations. But still can't beat standing in front of a tube rig 👍🏻

Since there is no profit to be made from publishing music anymore, there is no investment to be made towards recording in a production studio. Therefore most of what he talks about is irrelevant. Probably that is why 99% of the conversation is focused on historical anecdotes or working with the millionaire musicians of yesteryear who have money to burn.
@timbrown7652
@timbrown7652 4 месяца назад
There are so many ways to make money in music and many successful people doing it! You may personally not be successful, however there are many, many people who are.

@metalman3227
@metalman3227 4 месяца назад
agreed@@timbrown7652 when you aren't successful yourself you look around and just see the worst in things. I know so many successful music people, from Producers to engineers, to mixers, to mastering engineers, to TV and Film composers to everything in between, not to mention all of 1,000s of jobs in the music business at labels, publishers, agents, radio stations etc etc

Do it for fun I just wish there beside the computer there are more multitrack standalone recorders but with the advent of the laptop and everything cheap I just don’t like it that way I don’t mind it but I believe it’s this guy who said if you’re not a producer don’t fall trip to it meaning to many changes that you might not have made ..attempted to do things you wouldn’t do if you could play and sing how you clean up the DAw you might sound like Céline Dion and you shouldn’t do that if you believe your good enough , a The whole thing is that you practice practice to be Good that’s the point is all! DAW is a great but yeah it was this gentleman who said the opinions are overwhelming for young musician you make manipulate things and ends up not even being your own anymore I was lucky editing and I have muscle memory at 46 and play the piano and I did it the hard way which now I would love to learn how to use daw but it’s to much Without somebody helping me believe it or not in the stand-alones are good they just don’t make them good enough to last because there’s other things that are cheaper but they sound good enough for a piano player who sings wish L-12 zoom was something that lasts but they don’t I simply play my parts break it up like I did in the olden days and sometimes I’ll take songs that already put together and just play my part and sing Not for money for fun but yeah DJWS I would know what to do with all those options

The last thing Warren literally said was, "it wasn't expensive gear; it was the creativity." Seems as if you've missed the point...
