Wanna hear a funny Marine story? When I was 16 or 17 years old I wanted to join the Marines so bad...there was a recruiting office in Downey, Ca..(Los Angeles) and I had been already going thru the process to join as soon as I was eligible....well one night me and a few buddies of mine decided to do something extremely stupid...we decide to go joy riding so we stole a car.....1997 Ford Taurus....none of us noticed it was a government car when we had stole it....needless to say we got caught and went to juvenile hall...weeks later after going to court the judge gave me time served since it was my first offense and gave me a shitload of community service to do...the judge asked me where I wanted to do my community service at? I remembered that the recruiting office at the Marine Corps center had community service available...so right away I said I wanted to do my community service there....days pass by and I show up to the recruiting center to start my community service hours...as soon as I arrived I recognized one of the recruiters there...he asks me what I was there for? Than he laughed and asked what was my crime? I responded with joy riding...he looks at me with a puzzled look and than asks me what type of vehicle was it..so I tell him a beige Ford Taurus....he grins at me and yells out "hey Sarge, remember how ur car got stolen a few weeks ago? Guess what dipsh!t I got here in front me me?" At that very moment I wanted to yell mommy and run for the door! Lmfao the amount of PT that Sergeant made me do.... my legs and chest still hurt till this day...I will never forget that story as long as I live...after a few months with those guys they learned to like me and became extremely cool with me...but boy did I have to payback with labor for that stupid mistake....lol

Try to interview Terrence Popp. I think he was the NCOIC of Abu Ghraib when you were there. He was there with Company F 425 michigan national guard and was wounded (TBI) after he became their 1sgt. He medecaced some marines by truck from Falludscha and spoke bad about reserve marines there while spoke good about active marines. Before that he was in the special forces. Before that he jumped into panama with the rangers and was wounded. Before that he was a private in the 9. ID i think and with them deployed to guard the Suez Channal where his helicopter auto rotated/"crashed". Now he has a show where he has 400+ guys said they didn`t take a permanent solution to a temporaty problem.

Great interview, brought up good memories of Iraq in 2003, and spot on about seeing the outcome of Afghanistan. I was a mentor to the Afghan police ‘08-‘09 in Helmand Province. I hate to say it, but I knew whenever we left the place would crumble regardless of who our President was.
