Y'all don't know how huge that VCU run was for the university and the city in general. That whole Final Four run unified the metro area like never before or since in my lifetime. We were so excited about it in that time period because we beat USC in the pay-in game just to make it in the tournament, 6th seed Georgetown, beat down a 3rd seeded Purdue, wona cloe game against Florida State and that Kansas game to make it to the Final Four where Butler ended the Cinderella run. That was an awesome trip through memory lane

The team that the Wolfpack had to beat (Houston Cougars) was so impressive they had the nickname "Phi Slama Jama". Drexler and Olajawon on the same team is already a stacked deck, but they were a very deep team. Crazy seeing some of the NBA players involved with these upsets: Lehigh had CJ McCollum, Norfolk St had Kyle O'Quinn, Kenneth Faried on that Morehead St team, Curry on Davidson, Steve Nash on Santa Clara... lotta guys in the league showing out early on.

Ok so some stuff about the Georgia State clip… Dude that hit the shot, RJ Hunter, was the coach’s son!!! Ended up getting drafted by the Celtics shortly after. Also if you notice the coach not getting up and walking around in the clip its because he got so excited they won to get into the NCAA tournament that he broke either his foot or his ankle (can’t remember which) and couldn’t walk for the tournament

I'll never forget that the Tuesday before that year's tournament started, two of my buddies argued with each other for an hour over whether or not a 16 would ever beat a 1...only for UMBC to happen three days later

Mizzou fan here that Norfolk State loss pisses me off so much; we ran a 4 guard starting 5, and got such a terrible matchup; NSU was a post based lineup, that bodied us on the boards. March does come down to matchups, more than any other time.

Decided to watch the vid since March Madness begins today. Keep it clutch fellas. UAB was the very FIRST 16 seed EVER to beat a #1 seed and Virginia was the #1 seed overall to boot. Even wilder, Virginia came back to win it all the very next year.

The greatest NCAA upset will always be from 1966. Texas Western Miners win 72-65 over the Kentucky Wildcats. Kentucky was led by Pat Riley and Louie Dampier and coached by one of the greatest NCAA coaches of all time Adolph Rupp. For the first time in NCAA history up to that point, a team started 5 black players and also didn’t play a single white player. It’s an amazing story that I assume most basketball fans know, and those that don’t will love the story
